I didn't have time to play yesterday, with working 12 hours and seeing Batman at 11 PM (amazing, BTW). On Friday I was so tired but I still played a couple of games. I played Florida (as Kentucky) in my offline dynasty and got stomped. It was one of the old "it's in the game" type of games. I had 4 turnovers and FLA had zero. 1 of the INT's was my fault, but the other INT was stupid and both my fumbles were just ridiculous. They also had a fumble ret'd for a TD which I got challenged and got overturned. That would have been 5 turnovers. Geez. I was seriously pissed that game. And FLA ran up the damn score. I've never been in a position to watch the AI run up the score...but they did. And it really pissed me off. They scored TWO TD's in the last 2 minutes when up by multiple scores. They were both on 1st & 10 when they should have just been running the ball. The last one was with around :50 left when I had no timeouts left. They threw the ball 20 yards in the air, Harvin caught it, and scored. I was about ready to throw the game out the window.

It was challenging though. This was on AA. I'm seriously afraid to do Heisman with our crappy teams in NOFL, as I think there will be a lot of 6-6 or 7-5 teams. Or worse. I think on AA with the right sliders us crappy teams could go for 8-4 or 9-3. I'm hoping for that in my offline dynasty. I'm 6-1 with Kentucky but I still have to play UGA & Tennessee. In the online dynasty I play both SEC human opponents in my first year, also. We're not going to get in 10 years in this online dynasty because of how long each week is going to take. So I'm hoping to at least be in a decent bowl in year #1. We probably won't finish year #1 til November. Stretch out that timetable over the next 12 months. I dunno. Maybe I'm in the minority here.

As for Florida...I won't soon forget what they did to me. I play them in Lexington next year with better recruits and I seriously hope to kick their ass by 30. And I too will run up the score. FLA= teh jerks :p

I really don't want to go 8-4 or 9-3 with "crappy" teams. To me, that wouldn't be realistic (unless you have a very easy schedule).

If I have a choice to play with altered sliders on AA or slightly less altered sliders on Heisman, I'm going to go with AA 100 times out of 100. Heisman just isn't fun. Too many times the extra boost that the CPU gets makes you shake you head and just say "oh common". It's no longer a matter of ok well that could have happened...these are college atheletes and guys take bad angles and it turns into that literally would have been impossible *kicks chair over*

i agree. i think the CPU cheats too much on Heisman. of course, another way of looking at it is when you're playing a more dominant player online - nothing you do seems to work and somehow every play they move the chains with ease and can stop you whenever you want. there are times i've felt like that, just being overmatched. so should the CPU have a level that equates to what it'd be like playing a really good human? perhaps so. that level is there for the people who want it - AA provides the best experience for me and i prefer to tinker with that. i think both teams have a chance, and that i really have to work to win the game. on Heisman the chips are stacked against me.

Had a good game vs. Anthony last night... finished 14-7 all the scoring was done in the 1st half... It was lots of fun... Probably would have been better if I was playing HellAtlantic though... What ever happened to that dude anyway?

Good game DeToxRox. It started off a little crazy with the exchanged kickoff returns for touchdowns. I just had a few more lucky bounces, namely the tipped pass in the corner that was caught for a TD. There was also the punt early in the game that I was going to let bounce into the endzone that the computer picked up that ended up being run back for a TD.

Anyway, look forward to playing you during league play.

You played well. I had three things kill me.

1. Special teams. Two ST TD's were killers. The punt moreso because it was a good punt that took a weird bounce.

2. INT's. Threw across my body too much, lead to a few INT's that were killers.

3. Hit stick. Gave up big plays going for fumbles, it kills me every f'ing time.

Good game though, it'll be fun come season time.

The NOFL Pac-10 Conference championship just got a bit more challenging for EF27 against a well-positioned Stanford program and Sun Tzu. :)

Seems like every one of you guys is getting 2-3 returns a game for TD? Is there anyway you've found to fix this?

I have yet to allow a return for a TD, or get one for myself...

Are there any good sites out there that setup leagues? The online leagues are perhaps the only thing that has me intrigued at the moment. I have a couple friends who I might start one with but not sure. Otherwise I'd like to find one that perhaps has some older guys who don't quit after a bad couple games (and won't be cheesey).

You may want to check the Operation Sports Forums. With online football leagues unless you've known the guys for years it's pretty much hit and miss.

Maclin is an absolute beast in the game. I haven't mastered the skill of uploading videos yet or you would have seen a sick catch he made against HA last night. I'm at around the 30 yard line and I have Daniel roll left looking for a receiver but no one was open. I look back the other way and Maclin is breaking free on a corner route. I throw it across the field toward the endzone and J-Mac makes a diving catch. I've returned 4 or 5 kicks with him too and he's had many big plays. Unfortunately I'm sure in every dynasty you play Maclin will leave after the first year.

I think the MU defense plays weaker than its ratings. The d-line is iffy and the secondary gets burned quite a bit. Witherspoon is great but I think they really underrated William Moore.

Yeah, great game man. Once you scored with :04 left in regulation, I had a feeling I was done. A lot of good action in that game. We'll have to have a rematch at Rutgers so I can return the favor :(

I just want to say playing the guys on here is a HUGE breath of fresh air. Having played Anthony (cough), EF27, Mike, and Karlifornia, every game was just like the real thing playcalling wise and felt JUST RIGHT.

I just got my ass handed to be by..I'm guessing Sun Tzu....I was NMSU and he was Stanford..I threw about 100 INT's..just stupid throws. If anyone is looking for a game against a quality player, hit up Katsumura..he's got game.

Whew...had to friendly quit against rainmaker after only a couple plays. I couldn't do a thing...I was having problems even putting in my normal QB in the depth charts.

Ah, I figured something was up. Usualy it will say if somebody is playing a game solo, or online, or whatever in their status thing. For both you and Galaxy it just said "online" and nothing else.

Yea playing with Rainmaker was very slow for me too.

Kodos took the win 23-14 (his last touchdown came very late just by trying to run down the clock, and he managed to bust it outside).

I didn't save it...I just assumed he would. Anyways just in case it doesn't get uploaded this is how it went. Since I didn't call prevent (ugh!) 1 or 2 guys got behind my DB's. He fired a bullet down the left sideline and my guy and his guy tipped it at the same time. The ball flew about 10 yards downfield perfectly into the arms of one of his other WR's with nobody near him. He just waltzed into the endzone...absolutely crazy ending. Good game otherwise, a couple picks by each of us which is I'm sure uncharacteristic. Some good play calling too. This will probably be the #1 greatest game on my NCAA 09 "greatest games" list forever...it's great game score is like 1986 or something like that.

You can say that again. A crazy ending to a very close game. It was back and forth the whole game.

I'm sorry about my connection tonight guys. I think my ISP is just having a rough night. I'm on a cable modem in Chicago and never really run into lag issues online. For whatever reason, everything online has been real slow here. Hopefully isn't something I have to deal with again.

I don't know if you guys have been following the hoopla on OS, but it seems like online dynasties are completely broken. Some are going backwards, some are just randomly putting up simulated scores for users, some have random guys being added to their league, some even got hijacked. Seems like massive database issues.

I have some major issues with the game, but this was the one thing I really hoped would make it worth my money.

Yep, it appears that the bugs continue to be found at a pretty solid pace. Online dynasty mode is not working well at all. The only thing I'm surprised about is that people seemed to think that this version was going to somehow be better than the previous versions.

I think in the end it is a little better than last years version even without the online dynasty factored in.

I suppose it's all relative. Last year's game was terrible, so that's not saying much.

What slider set are you guys using for PS3? I've tried 3 different ones and haven't been happy with any of them.

FYI....the sliders are not console specific. The game works the exact same way on either console.

Yep. I was jumping up and down as he ran into the endzone. Those sorts of plays are total luck, but a blast nonetheless. :cool:

Crappy news about the online dynasties.

So, outside of a brutal game engine that was unrealistic at best, the game was fine. The game was widely criticized, so I'm certainly not saying anything ground-breaking here.

The early pre-sale estimates being floated around appear to support the continuing trend of another double digit drop in sales for this year's version of the game. That's pretty telling. Once we get some firm numbers, we'll have a better idea exactly what consumers think of the franchise overall. Certainly, when you have video game sites publishing headlines like 'NCAA 09 has a s%$#load of problems', that's far from the favorable publicity that they're looking for just after release.

FWIW, as one of the few LG holdouts, I bought the PS2 version over the weekend and am really enjoying it. The gameplay has been tightened up, and as soon as I get a good feel for slider settings over a couple of seasons running my dynasty at a lower-level school, I'll be ready to move up to a real school and take on a challenging AI. I've noticed improved angles, smoother gameplay/player movements, players getting run down on long returns, a more difficult option offense (I used to wear out the opposition with 3 or 4 option plays, which I can still do, but it's more realistic), and oh yeah...SUPER SIM IS SO GREAT. I was up 27-0 in my first game at halftime, and simmed through the rest of the game, stopping occasionally. What would have taken me an hour to sleep-walk through took me 30 minutes, and I won 34-3.

I guess my biggest thing is the "new" (for me) recruiting model, which I'll have to get used to. But otherwise, I'm glad I upgraded from 07.

I would not characterize it as neither "brutal" nor "terrible". I got my money's worth out of it. Was it as good as it could be? Certainly not. This was the first version of NCAA I've ever owned, and I enjoyed it for what it was.


Different issue entirely. I don't see enough out of 09 to buy it with 08 sitting at home.

Not saying it's the end-all be-all of football games. I just reserve words like "brutal" and "terrible" for games like Maximum Football. NCAA 08 was fun with warts. That's all.

Anyone have an estimate for patch #2? First patch wont really clear up much of what I'm interested in.

Hopefully patch 2 isn't NCAA 2010. Actually, more likely, patch 2 will be patch 1 for NCAA 2010. F this company.

I also purchased the PS2 version this weekend as an upgrade from 04 & 06. Supersim is very useful, and during the weekend I finished the first season of a dynasty. I loved the graphical drive chart during the supersim. Overall game play was enjoyable. The only thing that bothered me was that the in-season recruiting seem to be easy. As Tulsa I was able to steal a few recruits from Texas and Oklahoma. Though, it might have just been some good luck and my roster needs versus their roster needs.

Does Mizzou B-ball fan hold some kind of personal vendetta against EA or something? This thread is happy go lucky for hours on end then he comes in with "just fyi EA is owned by satan himself, and I just witnessed one of their employees punch a baby in the face and laugh"...

Yeah, the drive chart is cool, too. I'm just starting my dynasty so the in-season recruiting is just getting started, but it looks a lot like 06 so far. We'll see if it's easy to get good recruits, because I moved Eastern Kentucky to Div I to start with a lowly team so I can move up in 2-3 years. The super sim is going to allow me to play through some seasons quickly that I otherwise would have skipped, or just simmed the entire season through. Anyway, as EKU, I shouldn't be able to get many, if any, 4 or 5 star guys.
