Unable to overcome a 7-run 7th inning, the Sox dropped a tough one at Fenway tonight to Oakland, 9-4. The lone bright spot was that Big Papi extended his hit streak to 12 games, the most for any Red Sox player this year.

The Red Sox avoided a sweep at home by beating the Royals, 3-2 today. The Fenway faithful also witnessed the Sox move into a tie for first place with the Yankees today. David Ortiz extended his hit streak to 10 games and Jarrod Saltalamacchia provided the fireworks with a solo home run in the 6th.

The Red Sox had their 5-game winning streak snapped by the Royals last night at Fenway in the 1st game of the homestand. Ryan Dempster struggled out of the gate, giving up two early home runs, but managed to last 7 innings. David Ortiz homered for the 2nd straight game.

The Red Sox won a well-contested pitcher's duel last night, with John Lester coming out on top of a 1-0 game. David Ortiz provided the lone run with a 2nd inning shot off of starter Brett Myers (1-1), the hard luck loser in this one. Lester struck out 6 over 8.1 innings, while Joel Hanrahan retired the final 2 batters to earn his 7th save in as many chances. This was the 5th consecutive victory for Boston, which completed the road sweep of the Indians and kept them in a 1st place tie with the Yankees.

Game 15: @ Cleveland Indians

Boston won a nail-biter, 7-6 against the Indians at Progressive today to notch their 4th consecutive victory. The Sox put up a well-rounded offensive effort, with each starter having at least one hit and single RBI from seven different players. John Lackey picked up his first victory of the year, despite a shakey outing and Joel Hanrahan pitched a perfect 9th for his 6th save in as many chances this year.

The Red Sox moved into a first place tie with the Yankees with their 3rd consecutive win last night in Cleveland. David Ortiz stayed hot, hitting a solo home run and coming through with a 2-run single. Franklin Morales earned his 2nd win of the young season with a dazzling 7 inning performance.

The Sox blew out the Rays for the 2nd consecutive day, 13-0 this Patriot's Day. Led by Big Papi's 2 homers, and bolstered by Clay Buchholz's 8.1 scoreless innings, Boston had no trouble with the same team that won the first two games of this 4 game series. Now off to Cleveland for a 3 spot.

The Sox dropped the second of the 4 game set 1-0 to the Rays tonight in an intense pitcher's duel between David Price and John Lester. Lester was the hard luck loser, allowing only one run on 6 hits through 7 innings. The Sox offense just couldn't get anything going against Price who exited in the 9th, paving the way for Fernando Rodney's first save of the season.

Boston lost their 3rd straight game, this one in a blowout to the Rays. Their season record dropped to .500 at 5-5. John Lackey continued the trend of struggling starters for the Sox early this year, giving up 8 runs (7 earned) in his 6.1 inning of work.

The Red Sox countered two home runs from Chris Davis to win a tight one, 5-4. Clay Buchholz wasn't stellar, but pitched 7.2 strong innings to win his 2nd consecutive start to begin the season.
