DENVER, MAR. 10 - Halischuk goal with 4 seconds left to play denied Semyon Varlamov from earning a shutout, his fourth this season, but no one can say that the russian goalie didn't deserve it. Varly's inspired play has been one of the main causes of the Avalanche's rise this season and he is a serious contender for the Vezina.
Meanwhile for Winnipeg, things are going from bad to worse. The team looked like a lock to the playoffs, but that seems like a decade ago. Since Andrew Ladd's injury, the first line is struggling badly, but the team's main problem has been the defense. The blueliners are allowing lots of clear one-timers and even breakaways (the Avs had 3 this game, 1 of them resulted on the first goal) and the team seems lost on the rink.
Expect lots of changes for this squad if they want to get back on a good form.
