TV Hosts, Announcers, and Color Analysts Who Need Not Talk
Posted on January 14, 2009 at 04:26 PM.
I'm about to go on a huge rant here, so please hide your children and your women, if you do not you'll run the risk of ruining the rest of their lives. This post will encompass the people in the booth or studio who need to shut up.

First culprit, ESPN's Trey Wingo. Trey? Wingo? Your name is dumb AND you look dumb. I know 3rd grader talk, but have you heard this guy talk? Does anything good and genuine come out of his mouth? I have heard him talk and no he isn't good or genuine. He's sarcastic to the point where it's annoying. I no longer watch NFL Live because his face and voice ruin the show.

Secondly ESPN's Mark Schlereth. This guy is nothing but condescending to the audience. He talks like he needs you to understand his point so he talks slowly like he's talking to a five-year old. Schlereth your audience is much older than five there bud. He also likes to talk about his Bronco and Redskin days, dude we get it, you were decent at your job, time to move on. You weren't Gene Upshaw on the line, so please get over yourself.

Fox's Joe Buck is probably the most annoying play-by-play announcer in the history of sports. This guy likes to interject his own biased opinions into his telecasts. I know another guy who does that, Bill O'Reilly and he has his own show. Mr. Buck get yourself your own show to spew your toxic opinions on and leave the play-by-play to unbiased commentary of the game.

Linda Cohn....one word, that isn't even a word...skydancing, she said it to explain a home run. 'nuff said.

Dan Diedorf, does this guy even know what football is? He is so into hearing himself that I think he forgets his job is to provide color.

Shannon Sharpe, Dieon Sanders, Keyshawn Johnson and Marshall Faulk get off the air please. Sharpe get the marbles out of your mouth, Sanders get off your high-horse, Key needs to hop off the hot team's balls, and Marshall Faulk just needs to misplace his voice box....forever, he doesn't analyze games for us, he points out what we already know. Retire for good.

In closing, there are some really good announcers out there, Bob Costas, Vin Scully, Jim Nance, Mike Ditka who I enjoy listening to. But on the flip-side there are some very piss-poor announcers out there who ruin the game they cover.

The Monday Night crew on ESPN is annoying (Kornheiser in particular) and I can't stand Buck because he's too bland, especially when calling football games. Go on You Tube and watch Tyree's catch from last year's Super Bowl. He hardly raises his voice.

I actually like Schlereth and I particularly like Dierdorf. I think Dierdorf is very underrated and I didn't realize how good he was until I watched MNF after he left.

Buck is overly opinionated and I'm not a huge fan but he still does a good job. I also like Marshall Faulk in the NFL-N studios. He's ten times better than Rod Woodson who is beyond awful.

Mike Ditka is a bit tired though. He's too old school and has lost his relevance to me.

Good points on these bro. One thing that is VERY IRRITATING to me is that Tony Siragusa, Barry Switzer and Jimmy Johnson wear their championship rings on air and they're like 50 years old and aren't married. (Well, Goose is like 40, but anyway.) Or maybe they are married, but choose to wear their title ring instead of the wedding ring. Who knows? Dude, am I right in saying that wearing a championship ring is like, sooo back in the day??? And these guys egos are so ridiculous, I can see why they aren't married.
