Signing free agents to more than a year

I don't believe this is possible. You have to sign them for one year and when that year is up, you can resign them to a longer deal. Not sure why the game is like that. You used to be able to sign them to longer deals right off the bat on older madden games.

you mean guys who are FA at the start of the preseason, not those during the off season?

you can't. it stems from rules in the current CBA. madden hasn't employed the exact same rules but rather used them as a basis.

Once the pre-season starts, you can only sign players to one year contracts.
