Has 2k given a reason why we can't use classic teams online?

I notice that when I do play ranked quick matches online, most everyone chooses the Heat, Lakers, Thunder or Knicks. The only way it seems to avoid this is to choose a God awful team so I can entice my opponent to choose another squad. Why can't we use classic teams online? I mean, I can understand they want us to focus on teams of today, but no one ever chooses to play with teams like the Suns, Wizards, etc. It's basically just a 4 team game online. Even if they don't want us to choose classic teams vs regular teams, they can at least make a classic team quick match and have classic teams play classic teams. Its so bad online that they should name the game "Lakers, Heat, Thunder 2k13.

Classic teams don't make up the ranked part of the game - ranked games are for current teams that receive updates throughout the season.

It's no different than taking a fighting game and only being allowed to use the base roster online. Actually, I take that back - it's different in the sense that ranked games represent the NBA as it is today.

And 2k doesn't have to give a reason for every little thing in the game. This is pretty much a given.

Not true even bobcats are great competition online. Everyone picks top teams and just bum rush the paint all game so if users think they need Michael Jordan to stop Tyson Chandler from Dunking all game, somethings wrong with the game AND the players

Don't worry, for my part it's clear that it's the reason why we have had to wait so many years before getting Michale Jordan in the game to let the new star make the business!!!
Paul Pierce, Tracy, Parker, KOBE, Wade!!! Bosh and the raptors!! Nash, Ming, Nowitsky!! Ok, and now basket ball is good, no problem but for my part i still love the street and the old school player and when i see no charge zone in the old paint so new rules for old court it disturbs me you know or when i see Jordan making the same fade that Kobe in post just before a fadeway jumpshot, i can tell you that i noticed it's not the same fade but as Kobe is checking the NBA with Lebron, Wade and maybe Parker too they forced 2k too insert in Jordan a little bit of them. For exemple there is a Lay up from Jordan that remember me a lay up of Parker!!
A dunk from Michael Jordan is a dunk of Iverson, Kobe and Lebron!!
i love those guys, but Michael is Michael. A lot of action of Kobe, Wade and Lebron are very similar, but they have their own moovment which are a little bit different.
For exemple, a buzzer beater is a Lebron sig buzzer beater, but i have never seen Jordan throw the ball like that!!

NBA 2k11, 12 and 13 are fantastic game, yesterday 57/57 in HOF between me (bulls 93) and Blazers 91, 4*12, and i can tell you i played excatly the real 93 Bulls. (i have the film of the 2 quarters exceptionnel soon in the highlight be sure) So i love this game no problem, but 2k must respect current team and classic team too.

i played a game sonics 96 jazz 98, i play with the sonics for the first time since 2k11 lol, it was genial, ervin Johnson and Kemp off rebond excatly as i want (so no more issue with the off rebond), i lost the game but it was excellent!!

I think they discovered last year in statistic that the only classic team to be used online was Lakers 97 and Bulls 96, and not enough people played with the other team that's why they stopped this!!!

But for my part i really wait a another DLC with more classic team this year.
