Playing Style - Players at Risk of Transfer

I have a ton of players that are at risk of transferring due to playing style. Is the only thing that affects this in game stats? I play shorter quarters (5-7 mins) but I wonder if that’s leading to a low number of stats that is driving the risk of transfer up.

Anyone else have experience improving their play style grade?

Its a huge flaw in the game that transfers are 100% dependant on Dealbreaks AND Play Style seems to be such a common one.

This means that playing time or a path to the field doesn't have any impact on transferring for the vast majority of players.

Just had 3 SS 2FS and 2CB transfer out at once due to playing style. That was fun. My poor secondary coach must be shook to the core.

Damn the issues in Dynasty just keep piling up, i am otherworldly disappointed by the amount of things they didn’t address in testing like sim stats being broken and playoff seeding busted two years in.
Ad in wonky logic in recruiting and a general lack of immersion in dynasty, and I just can’t believe I fell for the honey trap called early release.

This flaw and the game really shows through at the quarterback position. I’m playing as Alabama right now and I have about four or five quarterbacks, but the number two quarterback is threatening to transfer because of play style keep in mind the guy starting quarterback is the highest rated quarterback he’s also a senior who has sat behind quarterbacks for four years and is finally starting. But his archetype is field general meaning his a pocket QB but the guy wanting to transfer is actually a scrambling QB. But he’s second strain and a sophomore at the defending national champions who are undefeated and ranked number one in the current season. This just makes no sense whatever Player in that position is going to transfer because the current quarterback is more of a pocket passer than they are. That’s literally stupid. I mean a coach is going to evaluate the players he has every year and adjust his defensive and offensive schemes accordingly basically get the most bang for his Buck because your recruiting classes aren’t the same every year so you don’t necessarily have awesome Tackles and linebackers one year and then have like an outstanding secondary the next year. It doesn’t always lineup so play style needs to just be taken out of the game because that that’s not really that’s not really realistic.

I mean, tbf... that sounds eerily similar to Arch Manning's past 6 months.

Regardless, I think play style is just poorly worded in the game when to me it seems like it relies heavily on scheme and obviously stats that players are accumulating. There's one screen that shows how the stats factor in to the grading and such but I think it does a poor job of relating scheme to player transfer threats. And you're right, doesn't mean you can't change your scheme the following year to prioritize that QB's play style, but that might require a scheme change at the end of the season before you try to convince him to stay and maybe that will take him off that potential transfer list but might also add another QB instead..?

You can go to the My School page and look at what stats are needed to improve each playing style and it will show your grade and where you rank relative to the other schools around the nation.

Like Owl Said, think of playing style being that players are unhappy with the current scheme and the results it is producing. They don't buy into the system or think it is the best fit for them. That's a very common reason for transferring for many players in real life.

The example above of a dual threat QB not being happy in a program where the offense deploying a traditional dropback passing attack is completely believable. Sure, you can make the argument that in real life a coach could tell that QB that when he is the guy that the offense will be tailored to his strengths, but that doesn't mean in real life that pitch always works to keep said player in the program, and, when you're in the off-season and able to try and convince that player to not transfer, that mechanic represents that conversation happening and if he stays, it worked and the game is doing what you asked, if he leaves, the conversation failed and it sucks for you, but it is still 100% believable a QB would leave in that situation and go play for another school that he knows runs a system that would fit his skills.

Play Style relies entirely on stats and nothing more. At least in 14 it did. I had 2 teams nominally labeled Spread, one was closer to the Urban Meyer version with Tebow and the other was a Patriots Style spread in a more air it out style. The first team had an A+ with scrambling QBs and the second one had an A+ with pocket passers despite the overall scheme label being the exact same. The issue here is that because of the way the new system works despite the fact that most coaches tailor their schemes and playcalls to the players they have each year (See Bama going from Mac Jones to Bryce Young) the way EA calcs this means you get pigeon-holed into running your teams the exact same way recruiting the exact same type of players whether you actually want to or not based on your initial talent or lack thereof. There should probably be a more gentle curve of grading based on your scheme or schemes should be more specific and each archetype gets a standard grade for each scheme that determines playstyle in recruiting
