FT rating vs shooting %

Something I've wondered for years is how does the FT rating works vs. shooting %? I know when it comes to Mid/3/close/inside the rating does not indicate an actual shooting % number. If someone has 85 midrange shooting, it doesn't mean he could shoot 85% from midrange, as far as I know.

But when it comes to FT, does the rating match the potential shooting %? If someone has 90 FT rating, does it mean he has the potential (under optimal conditions) to shoot 90% from the line? It always seemed to me that the rating should indicate shooting %, hence I would usually edit players' FT ratings to match their real life FT shooting %.

Thoughts?

Re: FT rating vs shooting %

I'm sure it's somewhat slider dependent, but the last time I was really knee-deep in roster editing (2K22), players' FT ratings were lining up pretty 1:1 with their FT%.
