What do you teach?
Yeah it will be a night class I also have an afternoon class. Intro to Ethics and Sociology of Sport. I can't wait to teach Sociology of Sport. That's going to be fun.

Hey Chiefs.. I play you next week. When are you able to play? I should be free the entire weekend. I don't have school until the 20th!

Kia, you have the user safety thing DOWN. When I was watching the clip, the vid froze as the pass was in the air, and I was like, "there is no one even near the WR and it looks like a good throw." Then Leonard does the Madden schimmee, and wow!, that one would have had me pulling my hair out.

That would be a fun class. I've always thought it telling in sociological terms that our real passion as a nation is American football, a really brutal sport that's gladiatorial in its transformation of the human into mere flesh for consumption.

Is your ethics course a general one, or field-specific? I remember reading the Nicomachean Ethics as an undergrad and really finding it compelling. I lean much more toward Nietzsche now, but still like Aristotle.

The Ethics course is a general survey and we will be reading Nicomachean Ethics. I'm actually going through Nietzsche, Josiah Royce and John Dewey this year for my own personal research. I didn't get much Nietzsche in school, except Genealogy of Morals. I had to deal a little bit with Royce and Dewey though so I am familiar with them and just about all the classical American Pragmatist except Pierce. Just trying to shore up some areas.

Genealogy of Morals was on my undergrad reading list in the ethics. I fell in love with Zarathustra as well. The Portable Nietzsche is a good one to have in the collection.

The thing people don't get about Nietzsche unless they read him is that he has a profound sense of joy, and he's very funny. He gets a bad rap for his departure from the commonplaces of theologically-based ethics because lots of people don't have the stomach to bear the notion of having to live well without someone/thing else telling you to do so.

In that connection, I recently read Camus's The Myth of Sisyphus and was intrigued by it.
