Re: Why do you support your team?

I was young, I'd say around 6 or 7 (Born in 90). I was never really brought up on football, my Dad is huge on baseball and my Mother is huge on soccer. But I remember nothing being on TV on Sundays for kids back then; This was before we even had cable. LOL. The only thing on television that day was the Rams game and I hadn't watched one before. I knew of them, having the team just moved to St. Louis from L.A. But what kept my attention that day was number 80. Dude was making plays all over the field and I could tell that he was clearly one of the best players. The Play-by-Play analyst could keep his name out of his mouth. "Bruce makes the catch and stretches for the first." "Isaac with the one handed grab." "Touchdown Bruce."

So I fell in love with Isaac Bruce and continued to watch the games throughout the next few years (even the Tony Banks days, YIKES!). Then the improbable happened.

Kurt Warner. The Greatest Show on Turf. Marshall Faulk. Torry Holt. Ricky Proehl. London Fletcher. Todd Lyght. Blue and gold flying all over that turf. It was magnificent.

End of story. I was in love with the Franchise from then on.

Re: Why do you support your team?

I was a Cowboys fans in the 90s since that was the only team shown on TV here really (or the 49ers, but my dad is a Niners fan so I wanted to shake it up a bit :P). Plus I was only a kid and a bit of a band wagon fan.

But then something happened in the mid 90s here in Aus and it was hard to follow the NFL. IIRC the Nine network bought the rights to the NFL and then proceeded to supress its exposure because they were trying to promote their own football (rugby) league called the "Super League" and the NFL was actualy starting to become a bit of a competitor. It wasn't until satellite pay TV started to become available that I was reintroduced to the NFL, which was about 97-98.

I always liked the Oilers too as sort of an AFC favorite and when they became the Titans I just fell for their style and fresh look they had. It was an exciting time for the team and their momentum carried me over into a full blown fan.

Re: Why do you support your team?

I actually become a fan of the Buffalo Bills because of Tecmo Super Bowl. QB Bills (Jim Kelly), Thurman Thomas, Andre Reed, James Lofton, Cornelius Bennett. They were one of the best teams, and I wasn't that good, so I needed a great team to compete with my brothers, who were amazing at the game (NYG and CHI fans, living just south of Philly). My location explains my knowledge and partiality to the Philadelphia Eagles (though I wouldn't classify myself as a fan of them, though I seem to follow and know more about them then actual "fans"...). Almost became a Chargers or Chiefs fan due to TSB, but decided upon Buffalo. Did I mention this all happened around 2000, a decade after TSB was released?

Turns out, I'm one of the most loyal fans to a team outside of the area that I know. It seems the casual fan is a huge fair weather/bandwagon fan. It'll be amazing to see the Bills successful again after years of futility.

Re: Why do you support your team?

Because I'm from New Orleans and grew up watching them. I also used to watch the Lions because Barry Sanders is my favorite player ever but I was never a fan of theirs, although the first jersey I ever owned was a Lions jersey. I actually still have that Barry Sanders jersey somewhere in my house.

Re: Why do you support your team?

Born in Northern VA in 1981, raised in Northern VA, and Central Maryland. My first sporting events have been Redskins, Capitals, Bullets (Wizzards name is terrible) and Orioles. I've alway been a fan of them so have many members of my family, although lots of Cowboy fans too. I've invested a lot of $$$ and free time into my fandom and don't see my self ever not rooting for them. Athough with the exception of the Capitals. It was a lot more fun to be a fan of those teams in the 80's than it is currently. The Caps just wait until the spring to break hearts.

I'm lucky though that I've managed to remember two of the Redskins Super Bowl wins. I still have a VHS tape of both Doug Williams and Mark Rypien's super bowls. I feel bad for the kids who are fans of the Skins now, all they know is struggle. We had season tickets to the Orioles from 1995-2000 so I was there when they last had a winning season and were Wire to Wire AL East Champs. I was there when the "Bullets" last made the play-offs after the 96-97 season. I was also there when the Caps were swept in the Stanley Cup Finals.

Re: Why do you support your team?

I was 8 in 1995, and I didn't have a favorite team. I had bounced from the Cowboys to the Redskins and back roughly 4 times, and neither of them stuck to me.

I watched the first game in Jaguars history and fell in love with their uniforms. The teal was something I'd never seen before, and I decided that day I would be a Jaguars fan for life. 1996 happened, and it was cemented.

I like being able to say that I was in on the ground floor.

Re: Why do you support your team?

Lived in Pittsburgh my whole life and have to support my home town teams through the good and the bad (and with the Pirates it's been mostly bad). Even during most of the 90's when Pitt football was pretty much an afterthought, I always loved them even when everyone else seemed to be rooting for Penn St. Yes, I am, always have been, and always will be fiercely loyal to my home town teams.

Re: Why do you support your team?

Cowboys: I was born and raised in Dallas, they will always been my #1 team

Texans: Because I live here, and because they don't play the Cowboys very often.
