FOFC Greatest TV Show Tournament (Izuldean Rules) Nomination Thread
I know we've probably done this before, but I figure what the hell, why not it run again?
But we'll be operating under Izuldean Rules for this one. What that means is, each person wanting to submit nominees must come up with a list of 10 shows. The order in which you list the 10 shows you nominate does not matter for seeding purposes. Seeding will instead be determined how many top 10 votes a show gets and tiebreakers will be handled via a secret system of my own devising. Hopefully we'll have at least 64 different shows nominated so I can set up a 64 member tournament. Then we'll have the usual vote-offs, round by round. Also, when I set up the brackets, I'm not necessarily going to try pitting the same types of shows against each other. Hence, you could very well have a situation where The Wire goes against My Little Pony or some such. It can be any show; drama, historical, cartoon, kids, sitcom, whatever. The choice is yours. Also, the criteria you use to determine Greatest Shows Ever is up to you. It can be critically acclaimed, it can be favorites, whatever you want. Nor is there a set of number of seasons the show had to run. Yes, mini-series and shows like David Letterman and Sportscenter count. Nomination thread will remain open for week. I'm tabulating nominations as they're posted. If you make any changes, please PM me with the shows you're adding and dropping so I can update the tally more easily. I'll start off with my 10 nominations. Again, the order does not matter. 1. The Wire 2. The Wonder Years 3. Voltron 4. Hell's Kitchen 5. Joan of Arcadia 6. Dream On 7. The Shield 8. ALF 9. South Park 10. iCarly

Yeah I figured I'd get shit for that one, but I was really scrambling with the last few because it's hard for me to remember a lot of the older shows I watched. I figure my questionable last few listings that I'd probably change if I had to do it over will be superseded by others. ...Although you never know. Maybe iCarly makes it after all.

dola, I'd probably take Saved By The Bell off if I had to do it again. I'm wondering why I put it there now.

Yeah, even with the open-ended rules, most people wouldn't consider mini-series as candidates.

no need to do that, it definitely falls within the guidelines. I'm just saying that mini-series wouldn't be something folks would normally think of, but they definitely fit.

1. Battlestar Galactica (reboot)
2. Stargate SG-1 3. How I Met Your Mother 4. The West Wing 5. House, M.D. 6. The X-Files 7. Big Bang Theory 8. Sports Night 9. The Sopranos 10. Married With Children Gah, I initially thought I'd have a difficult time coming up with ten but as it turns out I had to leave off excellent shows like Deadwood, American Idol, Frasier, Seinfeld, Dexter, Dr Who, South Park, Cheers, 30 Rock, Stargate: Atlantis, Stargate: Universe (though it's perhaps too young), the Late Show with David Letterman (does that count?) which all joined the others rather quickly as I was thinking. Do mini-series like Band of Brothers and Rome count? Hmm...BoB was one of the greatest things I've ever seen on television, period. Lot of shows considering I don't really watch much tv, huh. |

I've entered in Band of Brothers, Scoobz, as it does fit the guidelines. If you really want me to switch it, I will, but I'm fine with leaving it in.

Okay guys, I've included the clarification that mini-series count, as do shows like Sportscenter, The Late Show, etc.

Actually I'll keep iCarly on there. I really do love that show. The one that's giving me problems is South Park. I can't decide whether to keep it or to go with Rome or The Tudors.

Why, just cuz a switch right now would cost South Park a possible #1 seed and drop it to a #2 seed for sure?

I'm just gonna go ahead and say right now that anyone who votes against the wire at any point should be shunned by the community and put on ignore by all of the reasonable people on the board. It'll be interesting to see what comes in second though.
