2009 NFL schedules released

Surprised the Niners got two night home games, but I'll take it

And for what seems to be like the 10th year in a row, the Niners open up against the Cardinals.

I posted this link in the other thread, but the NFL.com layout is pretty badass.

NFL 2009 Schedule Release

I wonder how much it would cost me to see the Pats in Denver Week 5.

I obviously know why they do it, but it annoys me when the Cowboys get 6 national TV games

It's too bad they got the Falcons and Eagles as their two games that aren't fixed. But, I'm looking forward to the season anyway. I hope this is the year the corner is turned and I can look forward to the playoffs.

Like I said in the other thread...

Current Lions season prediction:

2-14 (possible wins coming against the Rams and Browns at home.)

Agreed about the Niners games. I've never been to a night home game (having only had season tickets since this last year), so I'm stoked at the chance to go to two games in the same season.

As a Steelers fan, I'm happy. They should roll, probably to 13-3, maybe 14-2 barring injuries. A nice make-up after a rough schedule this year.

Pretty happy with the Colts schedule. Only one night home game (which the wife will appreciate me not coming in at 1 AM). There doesn't seem to be an absolute brutal stretch run like last year.

Between them, the Steelers, and Pats who both have easier schedules, it'll be a top heavy AFC I think.

dola - I am disappointed the Colts don't play at all on my birthday (9/20)...they have the Monday night game that week.

Really want to go to a game. Vikings/Lions or Texans/Titans are the best bets.

The four AFC East teams are all in the top seven toughest schedules, drawing the AFC South and NFC South. Add San Diego and Pittsburgh to that and my Dolphins have the toughest schedule in football.

A little disappointed that the Steelers only get one MNF game. Schedule looks pretty reasonable for them to make it to the playoffs again.

Seahawks:

0 prime time games (not really surprised)
1 of only 2 teams to play 3 consecutive road games
6 early start road games. Sure glad that cap the NFL instituted only applied to East coast teams traveling West.
None of their final 4 games are against divisional opponents.

I checked their schedule and it is brutal.

I don't mind not playing prime time, or really even the 3 road games (hopefully be a good character test).

What irks me is all the early road games. Especially after making such a big deal about Eastern teams and limiting how often it will happen to them.

Ah well, the rest of the offseason has been pretty promising. Hopefully they can have a nice draft and take back the NFC West this year.

Meh. Probably not as brutal as Carolina's got, along with the NFC South in general (have to play both East divisions this year). I think it's rated #2 behind Miami's. First three weeks are vs Eagles, at Atlanta, at Dallas. The Panthers drew a very early bye this year, but I think they'll need it. The only team with a losing record they'll face the entire season is the Bills at 7-9. Everyone else was 8-8 or better.

Another feature is no long home or road stands. There are a couple of back-to-back road sets and one two-game homestand, but otherwise they're alternating home and road games.

Frankly, I'll be surprised if they finish close to last year's 12-4 mark. I'm hoping they can somehow get to 10 wins (and that's if the Jake Delhomme of the 2008 regular season shows up...if it's the "Shaky Jake" from the Arizona disaster, all bets are off).

I've been to one Niners night game. I thought it was slightly more recentl y, but apparently it was in 1991 and I was six. Two memories from the game...our original seats were in the end zone a few rows direcltly behind a post and they had hot chocolate servers in the stands. Oh, and the Bears were blown out.

Wasn't that known in the first place, since those teams finished in the same place in their own divisions?

Nice to see the Dolphins get a couple Monday night games and a Thursday game.

But nasty schedule.

way to go NFL!!

Quote:
The Jets' home opener against the Patriots is scheduled during Rosh Hashanah. The next week, the Jets host the Titans hours before Yom Kippur starts. The conflict with the two holiest holidays on the Jewish calendar may keep the team's Jewish fans who observe the holidays from attending.

those who may not know this but a large majority of Jets fans are on Long Island which has a high Jewish population.

The NFL has already apologized and said they didn;t get the Jets request for away games on those two weekends due to a communication error on their part. I'm fine with that.

My two favorite teams (Chiefs and Ravens) are meeting in the season opener. I'll definitely be flying out to Baltimore for that one.

I nailed the Lions' overall record and just missed on a perfect game-by-game prediction by 2 games (loss to the Redskins and win over the Rams).
