FOFC Trout Bowl Tournament
Unable to sleep, I figure I work something out. Hopefully this helps get me to sleep.
We have the following 18 Players: Galaxy Sun Tzu Kodos Eaglesfan27 KWhit Bigsmooth wade moore JetsIn06 Mike1409 cartman Logan Cmp Bignej DeToxRox BigDPW Grammaticus kcchief19 Anthony This is my proposal: 7 Minute quarters, All-American 18 Players will be randomly drawn (by assigning each player a number 1 through 18 and using the random number order generated to allocate each team to a division; the first team drawn will go to “A”, the second team to “B”, third to “C”, fourth to “A”, ect. ) into three, six-team divisions. Each team will play each divisional opponent once for a total of five group games. The top three teams from each division will advance to the playoffs. The three divisional winners will get the top three seeds, with the best second-place team getting the fourth seed. Here is my playoff idea (picture the order of how I list the pairings in a “bracket” format). Play-In Game: No. 9 at No. 8 Winner of No. 9/No. 8 at No. 1 No. 5 at No. 4 No. 6 at No. 3 No. 7 at No. 2 The higher seed will always have home-field advantage. How we determine the seeds and tie-breakers: 1. Best Record 2. Head-to-Head 3. Point difference 4. Strength of Schedule 5. Least amount of points allowed per game We can hold a draft lottery to set-up a draft order for teams. I propose we go with teams with a rating of 80 or lower. You are free to pick whoever you want regardless of conference and as long as that team is not taken. When we do group stage, I say we allow for a time frame of when the games must be completed. As along as both players report the results whenever the play, that’s fine with me. The championship game: Trout Bowl I Last edited by Galaxy : 07-25-2008 at 11:43 AM. |

It's a relatively minor issue but how are we deciding which teams get home field advantage in each game in the group stage.

If each team plays 4 games before the playoffs start, I imagine we could just flip a coin or something...making sure that each team has 2 home and 2 away when all is said and done. For the other games during the playoffs, might as well use the tiebreaker/seeds rule to determine who plays @ home.

Except the proposal calls for 5 games for each team before the playoffs start which of course would leave some teams with 3 home games and some with 2.

I'm going to send Kodos and Grammaticus the numbers I've assigned to each player (to be held in secret).
If Sun wants to run the draft generator/lottery, using something like this website, RANDOM.ORG - Sequence Generator. He can either PM the results to Kodos and Grammaticus to put together the draft order based upon Sun's results. Does this work? I figured this would provide a system of "checks and balances", so to speak (though we have a great group of guys that I have no problems trusting). Last edited by Galaxy : 07-28-2008 at 11:27 AM. |

I'll be out of town until Wednesday evening, so I'm not sure if I'll get a chance to check in. If you guys want to go ahead, once that part is completed, and start the draft, go ahead.

Confirmed, I received the number assignments. Sun Tzu, do you want to go ahead and use random.org? You should be able to enter the values 1-18 and have the site scramble the numbers. Then Kodos and I can list the names that go with each number.

Heading over there now...I'll PM the results to both you and Kodos in the next 15 minutes.
