2050 Off Season
The first thing I had to do when taking over this club is fire the recruiter and assistant coach. They were both pretty poor. I decided to keep the scout. Our incumbent scout is 54 year old Lincoln Brown. He is rated 70 in scouting. Our new recruiter is 45 year old David Johnson. He is rated 62 in recruiting. My new coaching assistant is 48 year old Richard James. He is rated 47 in offense and 47 in defense. We have 11 games to schedule this season, with 6 of them being home games. Here are the teams we schedule this year: Colorado Portland Tulane Howard Long Island Virginia Alabama State Florida State Elon Rice Duke Recruiting is beginning and we have 1 scholarship to offer.

2050-2051 UNC Wilmington Roster
CENTERS 55 Jerry Wargo C Jr 6' 9" 251 Jupiter, FL Jerry gets the nod at Center this season. I am not all that excited about him starting, but we do not have many options. He can score a bit for us, but his defense and rebounding is not very good. 21 Boyd Ewers C So 6' 9" 240 Londonderry, NH Boyd is a pretty decent rebounded and will come off the bench as our main backup at Center and PF. He has a few offensive moves, but really is not a big scoring threat. 44 George Williams C Fr 6' 9" 241 Middletown, PA George gets a red shirt this season. Power Forwards 52 Randolph Watterson PF Jr 6'10" 268 Lynwood, CA Randolph will struggle to score 2 points in a game according to his scouting reports, but he still gets the start at PF this year due to his excellent rebounding and adequate defense. 25 Gene Smith PF Fr 6' 9" 259 Evergreen, AL Gene is a pretty bad player, and will not see much court time at all. 11 Kip Emmert PF Fr 6' 9" 227 Atlanta, GA Kip gets a red shirt this season. SMALL FORWARDS 32 David Raines SF So 6' 8" 242 Lusby, MD David plays some pretty good defense and will help out on the boards as well. He will come in to backup the C, PF and SF spots. 53 Chris Placencia SF Fr 6' 8" 239 Akron, AL Chris is a very weak player and will not get on the court. 40 Tony Nickens SF Fr 6' 8" 227 Lakewood, NJ Tony is a red shirt this season. SHOOTING GUARDS 31 Lloyd Halle SG Jr 6' 7" 214 Goldsboro, NC Lloyd gets the starting SF position this season. He has a very nice jumper and a terrific looking 3 pointer that he hits with regular success. He is a much better defender from the outside. 3 George Anderson SG Fr 6' 2" 199 Marathon, FL George is a red shirt this year. POINT GUARDS 50 Moses Cheney PG Sr 6' 3" 196 Haysi, VA Moses gets the start at SG this year, even though he is not that great of a shooter. His defense is phenomenal though and that gets him the start, for now. 0 Randolph Glanvill PG Sr 6' 0" 178 Newtownabbey, UK Glanvill is our starting PG and looks to be our best player at this point. He is a very good shooter, ball handler and passer. His defense should suffice. 2 Grant Cahill PG So 6' 3" 196 Knoxville, TN Grant is a great shooter, but a very poor defender. He will get plenty of backup time off the bench as the PG and SG, mostly the later. Notes: This team is just not that good. It is as simple as that. I am not sure how good our conference mates will be, but I could not imagine we will finish in the top half of the table. Hopefully I am in for a pleasant surprise. We also do not go deep at all this season. I will be playing a 7 and a half man rotation, with David Raines as that guy getting just enough time to be considered in the rotation. Top 25

Rice (0-0) at UNC Wilmington (0-0) So, the team is ready to debut, I am ready to debut as a head coach in NCAA Division 1A, and the fans are ready to usher in a new era of Wilmington hoops. We give them something to celebrate with a 62-52 victory on opening day! SF Lloyd Halle was the star of the game scoring 23 points, our only player in double figures. PG Rudy Glanvill added 9 points along with 5 assists.
November 17, 2050 UNC Wilmington (1-0) at Elon (0-0) We hit the road very early this season and suffer a close, but competitive loss, 59-56. Halle was again our leading scorer with 15 points today. Glanvill was our other productive player, he had 11 points and 4 assists.
November 22, 2050 Florida State (2-1) at UNC Wilmington (1-1) We pick up a big 20 point win against a somewhat legit team in FSU. The final score was 72-52. Halle continues to be our go to guy on offense, he scored 28 points today. Glanvill added 9 and Moses Cheney grabbed 9 rebounds.
November 26, 2050 UNC Wilmington (2-1) at Alabama State (0-1) We go back on the road for the second time this season, and this time we claw our way to a 51-48 victory. Halle just puts this team on his back and carries them to the wins. He scored 29 points for us tonight. Watterson had 10 boards from the PF position and Ewers had 8 points and 5 boards off the bench.
November Recap PG Jeffry White, from New Castle, DE, has committed to UNC Wilmington. Jeff is a 3 star recruit and is #47 overall in the East Region. He is just a terrific defender and I think his offensive and PG skills will come along very, very nicely for us.
Halle has been playing great, much better than I thought we could expect from him. Still, it is way too early to tell whether this team is actually any good or not. Top 25

Virginia (2-2) at UNC Wilmington (3-1) Our offense was just atrocious this game and we get crushed, 51-34 at home. Just an embarrassing loss here at home. Our leading scorer was our worst offensive player, Center Jerry Wargo. He had 9. Watterson did have 12 rebounds for us. Glanvill was just ice cold, going 2 for 15 from the field.
Moses Cheney was injured in this game and will miss 2 months of action. Grant Cahill will take over the starting job at SG. December 7, 2050 UNC Wilmington (3-2) at Duke (5-2) This was just ugly. Who put this game on my schedule? We lose this one 80-41. Glanvill led the team in scoring with 13 points today. Halle had a dozen and Watterson had 13 rebounds for us.
December 12, 2050 UNC Wilmington (3-3) at Long Island (4-3) This game was back and forth all afternoon, and up for grabs in the final seconds. We hit a big three pointer late and take the 77-75 victory on the road! Halle just had a sensational game, scoring 34 points. Glanvill added 13 along with 7 assists. Cahill also had 7 assists today.

UNC Wilmington (4-3) at Howard (3-4) We pick up a nice win on the road today, 80-66. Halle continues to light up the scoreboard. He went for 26 today. Cahill added 16 points along with 5 assists and 7 rebounds and Glanvill had 12 points and 7 assists.
December 21, 2050 Tulane (3-6) at UNC Wilmington (5-3) We get back home and once again really struggle to score on our home court. It is just not working at home right now. We drop this one, 60-48. Halle was able to go for 17 points, but he did not get any help.
December 25, 2050 Portland (2-7) at UNC Wilmington (5-4) It turns out to be a great Christmas for the team, as we take this game with a good offensive showing, 88-74. Halle led all scorers with 31 points today. Glanvill also had a great game, scoring 24 along with 7 assists. Wargo scored 10 and Ewers had 10 boards off the bench.
December 28, 2050 Coppin State (5-6) at UNC Wilmington (6-4) We open up conference play here, late in December. Our inability to score at home costs us big time today, and we get blown out in the conference opener, 71-47. Halle scored 21 points for us today. He is our only consistent player. Glanvill added 11 and he is our second best player by far. If the rest of the team cannot help out in some way, shape, or form, we will struggle to win games big time.
December Recap
We are not a very good team. We are going to finish in the lower half of the league standings. Halle and Glanvill are nice players, Halle is probably even a great player, but the rest of the team are basically scrubs. We have some high potential freshman with red shirt, so things promise to get better as the years go on. Top 25
The top 2 teams from last year are the top 2 teams this year. They are favored to meet in the National Finals again.

Colorado (8-4) at UNC Wilmington (6-5) We step back out of conference for a matchup with a big time team. We played them close which is about all we can ask, but still lost, 76-63. Halle scoredc 20 today and Watterson had 10 rebounds.
January 8, 2051 UNC Wilmington (6-6) at Rhode Island (10-2) Back to conference play and another L in the Loss Column. We drop this one 84-53. Halle led us with 18 points while Glanvill had 11 with 6 assists. Watterson scored 8 points and grabbed 10 boards, a solid effort from him.
January 11, 2051 UNC Wilmington (6-7) at Stony Brook (3-10) We pick up our first win in American East play with a 71-63 victory on the road today. We finally get that all important first win. Halle and Glanvill teamed up with 20 points each to lead us to the win. Cahill chipped in with 11 points.
January 15, 2051 Rhode Island (12-2) at UNC Wilmington (7-7) We knock off one of the top teams in American East play today, 82-73 and even our conference record up at 2-2. Halle was just unconscious tonight, pouring in a career high 39 points. Glanvill added 20 with 4 assists and 4 rebounds.
Mid Month Recap
We pick up a couple of wins that gets us to 500 in conference play. I will take 500 or better this season in a heartbeat. Top 25

Georgetown (7-7) at UNC Wilmington (8-7) We pick up our third consecutive victory in conference play with a 60-44 win today. Halle scored 24 points to lead the way today. Wargo had one of his better games, scoring 9 points and grabbing 6 boards. Watterson also had 11 rebounds for us.
January 22, 2051 UNC Wilmington (9-7) at Buffalo (7-10) We are on a hot streak now, picking up our 4th win in a row, and on the road to boot. The final here was 69-67. Halle led the team as always, with 25 points today. Cahill added a dozen and Wargo had his second consecutive solid showing, scoring 12 points and 5 rebounds. Watterson had 14 rebounds for us.
January 25, 2051 UNC Wilmington (10-7) at Charleston Southern (9-8) It looks like we might have turned a corner, either that or this conference is really bad. Regardless we win again today, on the road, 66-58. Halle was shutdown, scoring just 9 points on 2 for 11 shooting. Glanvill picked it up, scoring 19 to lead the team. Wargo remains a hot hand, adding 14 points and Cahill had 13.
January 29, 2051 Stony Brook (6-13) at UNC Wilmington (11-7) Our starting SG at the start of the year, Cheney is able to play, but still nursing his injury. He will see just a few minutes today before returning to the starting lineup next month. He gave us 2 points today, but we didn’t really need him as we win again, 60-51. Halle rebounded from a poor game with a team high 14 points and Glanvill had 11. Watterson had 11 rebounds and Wargo scored another 9 points today. That production from the Center spot has been key to our recent run.
January Recap
A 6 game conference winning streak has us in good shape. I can honestly say I never saw this success coming, nor do I have any strong feeling that it will continue. Cheney will return to the starting lineup in our next game. Cahill will return to the bench but see plaenty of playing time. Top 25

UNC Wilmington (12-7) at Delaware (10-8) Our winning streak comes to an abrupt end today. We get crushed, 81-46. Cheney led the starters with 10 points in his return and Ewers led the team in scoring off the bench with 11. Clearly, that is not going to lead to a win.
February 3, 2051 UNC Wilmington (12-8) at Coppin State (8-14) We drop our second straight game now, all since Cheney returned to the starting lineup. The final here was 73-71. Halle led the team with 21 points and Glanvill added 20. Cahill had 14 points off the bench. Cheney was held to just 2 points. He gets the start because of his stellar defense, but our opponents scoring guard went off for 20 points today. He gets one more chance as the starter.
February 5, 2051 Princeton (12-8) at UNC Wilmington (12-9) We have a pretty easy time with Princeton today and get a much needed victory at home, 79-60. We had a very nice balance in scoring today. Halle led the team with 20 points. Glanvill scored 15, Wargo had 13 along with 5 boards and Cheney scored 10.
February 12, 2051 Buffalo (13-11) at UNC Wilmington (13-9) We get wiped out at home today, 80-46. Halle had 18 points and Cahill added 10 points off the bench. That was about all our offense could muster today.
Bad news here, as Glanvill was injured and will not be able to play for a full calendar year. He is a senior, so his career is finished. Cheney moves to the point and Cahill returns to the starting lineup as the SG. February 15, 2051 UNC Wilmington (13-10) at Georgetown (9-13) Our new lineup produces a road victory for us today, 56-47. Our defense was the key as we did not score all that many points, but enough to win thankfully. Halle was the POTG, as he scored 25 to lead all scorers and had 10 rebounds which was also a game high.
Mid Month Recap
Barrin a major meltdown, we should be a top 4 seed in the conference tournament. I think we have a legit shot at the 3 seed, but no better than that. Top 25

Delaware (14-10) at UNC Wilmington (14-10) We get beat up pretty good at home today against a team fighting for the top spot. The final score was 75-56. Halle scored 16 points to lead the team in that category. Cheney scored 11 and Ewers had 6.
February 22, 2051 UNC Wilmington (14-11) at Princeton (14-11) We rebound with a nice 70-65 victory on the road today. Cheney was our leading scorer and he seems to be back to playing at full strength lately. Halle added 17 points and Wargo had 10. Watterson grabbed 9 boards for us.
February 26, 2051 Charleston Southern (11-16) at UNC Wilmington (15-11) Our defense leads us to a 55-48 victory today. We need every late season win we can manage right now. Ewers was named POTG for his work off the bench. He scored 12 points and pulled in 10 rebounds. Halle also scored 12 points and Watterson had 10.
February Recap
There is a clear separation between the top 4 teams in the league and the rest of them. I am just happy we are above that cut. Rhode Island is having a terrific year and have broken into the Top 25 rankings. Top 25

Akron (15-12) at UNC Wilmington (16-11) We step out of conference for a late season game, but we lose it, 72-62. Halle had a nice game, scoring 24 points and Cahill added a dozen.
Final Conference Standings
We are the 4 seed in this tournament, and could possibly be fighting for an NIT bid. I think we will have to win at least one to get any consideration at all. That may not even be enough. March 4, 2051 (4) UNC Wilmington (16-12) vs. (5) Princeton (14-14) We advance to the semi finals of the American East conference with a 74-61 victory today. We won all three games against Princeton this season. Halle stepped up big today, scoring 28 points. Wargo had his finest game of the year, scoring 11 and pulling down the same number of rebounds. Cahill also scored 11 for us.
March 5, 2051 (4) UNC Wilmington (17-12) vs. (1) #21 Rhode Island (25-4) The Rams shut down our offense and ended our regular season with a 63-50 victory today. Will our body of work be enough for the NIT? I doubt it, but I am hoping we sneak in there. Halle was our only player to step up and he scored 28 points today.
Buffalo upsets Rhode Island in the Finals to earn an automatic birth into the NCAA tournament. I expect the Rams to get an at large bid as well. Final Top 25

North Carolina was upset in the second round by the 9th seeded Miami-Ohio team! Off Season Procedures
Our team prestige remains level at 50. The AD is still satisfied with me, and expects me to compete for the Conference Title. Our recruiting class was ranked #161. We only had 1 scholarship to offer. Wisconsin had the #1 ranked class in the nation. No Head Coaching Job Offers for me this year. Our recruiting coach left for greener pastures. We replace him with Merrill Shriver. He is rated 49 in recruiting. We have 12 games to schedule this season, and half of them will be home games. Here are the OOC teams we pick up: Bethune-Cookman Hartford Colgate Michigan Army Central Florida Yale Portland Howard Elon Idaho Clemson We will have 3 scholarships to offer this season. We get one early commitment. PG Lyndon Hoard, from Amherst, NY, has committed to UNC Wilmington. Lyndon is a 3 star recruit and #63 overall in the East Region. He has a nice shot already and his passing skills have a lot of potential. His defense is pretty weak though.

2051-2052 Roster
CENTERS 55 Jerry Wargo C Sr 6' 9" 253 Jupiter, FL Jerry returns to get the start at Center in his Senior season. His offense has imprived and we can expect more double digits scoring from him. His defense and rebounding is still suspect. 21 Boyd Ewers C Jr 6' 9" 240 Londonderry, NH Boyd will be the main backup at both the C and PF spots this season. He has a nice inside offensive game, and is good on the boards. His defense leaves a lot to be desired. 44 George Williams C Fr 6' 9" 244 Middletown, PA George will see a bit of backup time in the paint due to his excellent rebounding and defense. His offense is non-existent. POWER FORWARDS 52 Randolph Watterson PF Sr 6'10" 271 Lynwood, CA Randolph gets the start at PF again this season. He will be our rebounding machine in the paint and will also play very good defense down there. He has no offensive game at all though. 25 Gene Smith PF So 6' 9" 262 Evergreen, AL Gene is pretty average and really doesn’t have anything he is very strong at. That will limit his playing time. 11 Kip Emmert PF Fr 6' 9" 228 Atlanta, GA Kip is just not ready to contribute yet. SMALL FORWARDS 32 David Raines SF Jr 6' 8" 244 Lusby, MD David is our best option at SF, and so he gets the start. He has on OK jump shot and can play decent defense. He should also be able to crash the boards and help us out down there. 53 Chris Placencia SF So 6' 8" 241 Akron, AL Chris needs a lot of work before he will see any minutes. 40 Tony Nickens SF Fr 6' 8" 230 Lakewood, NJ Same with Tony. SHOOTING GUARDS 31 Lloyd Halle SG Sr 6' 7" 217 Goldsboro, NC Lloyd moves to his natural position and will start at SG for us. He can score a lot, as he showed last year and we will look for an even better senior campaign from him. 3 George Anderson SG Fr 6' 2" 206 Marathon, FL George needs most of his game to improve before he will see any good minutes. He has the potential though. 0 Charles Davis SG Fr 6' 3" 178 Goleta, CA Charles is a walk on and will not see any playing time. POINT GUARDS 2 Grant Cahill PG Jr 6' 3" 197 Knoxville, TN Grant is a terrific shooter and will see a ton of playing time at SF, SG and PG this year. 4 Jeffry White PG Fr 6' 2" 180 New Castle, DE Jeff gets the start at the point as a true freshman. His defense is pretty good, as are his point guard skills. He has a half way decent jump shot as well. 14 Kenton Board PG Fr 6' 0" 177 Darien, GA Kenton is the second walk on we have and he will not play.

Clemson (0-0) at UNC Wilmington (0-0) The season starts early this year, but it starts ugly for us, as we get beat up 85-54 on our home court to open the season. Wargo scored 14 as did Cahill off the bench to lead the team in scoring today. Halle added a dozen points.

November 23, 2051 UNC Wilmington (1-1) at Elon (0-1) We barely get by on the road today, but we still come out of there with a 62-61 victory. Halle saved us from defeat with 19 points, our only guy scoring in double figures. Wargo did add 9 points for us in the paint.
November 28, 2051 UNC Wilmington (2-1) at Howard (4-0) We hand Howard their first loss of the season today, 66-62. Halle led the way again with 18 points. Wargo added 14 and Raines had a great day, scoring 11 and pulling in 10 rebounds.

December 12, 2051 UNC Wilmington (3-3) at Central Florida (3-3) The losing streak continues and in a big way today. We get pounded 78-50 on the road. Wargo led us with 14 points while Halle chipped in with 11. Watterson added 9 with 7 rebounds.
December 16, 2051 UNC Wilmington (3-4) at Army (3-7) We finally snap the 3 game losing streak with a 70-64 win over a tired Army team who just played their 11th game of the season already. The final score here was 70-64. Raines was our leading scorer with 18. Halle had 14 and Ewers came off the bench to score a dozen for us.

Michigan (5-4) at UNC Wilmington (4-4) Michigan comes into our tiny gym and the two teams put on an incredible show. The lead changed hands about 15 times in the second half, but unfortunately for us, Michigan had the ball last, hit a jump shot and came away with a 75-74 victory. Halle led the team in scoring with 20 points and we had 3 other players score a dozen points each: Wargo, Raines and Ewers
December 27, 2051 UNC Wilmington (4-5) at Stony Brook (4-4) We have to go on the road for our conference opener, but we are able to come away with a 73-61 victory and open up the American East schedule with an important victory. Halle was named POTG for his 32 points. Raines added 13 points along with 11 rebounds and Wargo chipped in with 11 points of his own.
December 31, 2051 Fairleigh Dickinson (0-11) at UNC Wilmington (5-5) We did not dominate, but we beat this winless team in our first meeting with these America East Newcomers. The final score was 77-71 and we open up league play at 2-0. Cahill came off the bench for an injured Halle and led the team in scoring with 22. Wargo added 11.
Halle may miss one start, but no more than that. December Recap

UNC Wilmington (6-5) at Colgate (8-5) I schedule a trip up to Colgate, which turned out to be a big mistake. They were pumped for this game and handed it to us, 84-58. Halle started in this one and led us with 17 points. Cahill, Wargo and Raines all scored 10 points.
January 7, 2052 UNC Wilmington (6-6) at Buffalo (7-6) Back to conference play this week and today we get killed by last year’s American East Tournament Champ, 82-54. Halle led us with 26 points and Wargo added a dozen.
January 10, 2052 Delaware (8-8) at UNC Wilmington (6-7) We needed and got a win in conference play here at home, 77-61. Halle led the team with a 30 point performance. Raines and Wargo added 12 points each.
January 14, 2052 Buffalo (8-7) at UNC Wilmington (7-7) Our defense just shut them down today and we avenge our earlier blowout loss by beating them up 69-38. Halle led us with 23 points while Cahill and Wargo added 12 points each. Both Wargo and Watterson each grabbed 10 rebounds.
January 17, 2052 UNC Wilmington (8-7) at Charleston Southern (5-10) We drop a very close game on the road today, 59-56. Halle scored 25 for us and Raines added 11, but we just could not find enough offense elsewhere in our lineup.
Mid Month Recap
The League is still wide open for any team to make a nice run through the end of January and early February. Top 25
North Carolina is seriously threatening to have a perfect regular season.

Princeton (9-6) at UNC Wilmington (8-8) Princeton almost stuns us at home, but somehow we escape with a 73-72 win today. Halle was our leading scorer with 19 points. Wargo scored 16 and Raines had 10. Watterson grabbed 10 rebounds for us today.
January 24, 2052 UNC Wilmington (9-8) at Delaware (10-10) We go on the road and suffer a 5 point setback today, 63-58. Halle had 22 points to lead us and Wargo added 14 points of his own.
January 27, 2052 Hartford (12-5) at UNC Wilmington (9-9) We take care of business n this mid season OOC game, 69-64. Halle once again led the team in scoring with 17. Raines had 11 and Ewers came off the bench to chip in with 10 points. Margo scored 8 and grabbed 10 boards for us.
January 31, 2052 UNC Wilmington (10-9) at Fairleigh Dickinson (3-16) We just choke on the road today and hand them only their 4th victory of the year. The final score was 82-74. Our defense just did not show up, we should never allow a team like this over 80 points. Halle was on fire and poured in 35 points and Ewers added 14 off the bench for us.
January Recap SG JC KcKinney, from Miami, FL, has committed to UNC Wilmington. JC is a 3 star recruit and #53 in the Southeast. His shooting is his strength and he also shows the potential to have decent passing and ball handling skills.
I really need to get in the top 3 here, but I just don’t know if we have what it takes to get it done. Top 25

Georgetown (11-10) at UNC Wilmington (10-10) We pick up a huge win today against one of the teams above us in league standings. The final score was 64-52. Halle was on fire again today, scoring 30 points. Watterson got the job done on the boards, pulling in 14 rebounds.
February 4, 2052 UNC Wilmington (11-10) at Georgetown (11-11) The Hoyas turn right around and avenge their loss earlier in the week with a 63-56 win today. Halle was again our only offensive threat, as he scored 22 today.
February 8, 2052 Bethune-Cookman (17-5) at UNC Wilmington (11-11) We drop this late season OOC game, 63-60. The usual formula was in play today: Halle went off for 31 points, but nobody else could give him any help and we lose.
February 11, 2052 UNC Wilmington (11-12) at James Madison (9-14) We lose here today and that most likely seals our fate as a 500 conference team. After winning our first game of February, we have now dropped three straight. The final here was 73-57. Halle scored 18 points for us.
February 14, 2052 James Madison (10-14) at UNC Wilmington (11-13) The season is now just getting downright ugly. We drop this one at home, 60-49. Halle was our leading scorer, but was held to just 10 points today.
Mid Month Recap
We are playing ourselves right into the bottom half of the table. Top 25
UNC’s perfect season is still a reality.

UNC Wilmington (11-14) at Princeton (14-11) The losing streak continues with yet another non-competative game, 71-58. Halle was just held to 8 points and Wargo was our leading scorer with 16.
Halle and Wargo were both injured in this game and may miss a few games each. As if this season could not get any worst. February 21, 2052 Charleston Southern (12-14) at UNC Wilmington (11-15) Ewers and Cahill get the starting nods in this game in place of Wargo and Halle. We drop this game by 10 points, 67-57. Our two backups came in and showed the rest of the starters what it takes. Cahill scored 19 and Ewers added 13 in the losing effort.
February 25, 2052 Stony Brook (10-17) at UNC Wilmington (11-16) Halle comes back for this game, but he will take over as the PG while Cahill will remain the starting SG. We finally pick up another win this year, I was not sure if we would. The final was 74-50. Halle comes back and leads the team in scoring with 18. Cahill had 14, Ewers 13 and Raines scored 11.
February Recap
Instead of being in the top 3, we are currently in the bottom three. Top 25
30-0 and counting for UNC!

(2) Charleston Southern (14-14) vs. (7) UNC Wilmington (12-16) We need 3 straight wins to extend our season and keep the AD happy. Wargo comes back to the linup and he will replace Watterson at PF, while Ewers will keep the starting Center spot. None of that mattered though, we got blown out, 83-48 and our season is done.
Charles Southern beat Stony Brook for the League Title.

Off Season
Our prestige level fell all the way to 44. The AD told me this could be my last chance to produce results. Our recruiting class was ranked #153. Oklahoma State had the #1 ranked class in the nation. I was not offered a Head Coaching job. All of my assistant coaches stay for another year. We are invited to the Preseason FBIT tournament, and accept as the #14 seed. We have 10 other games to schedule, 5 of which can be home games. Here are the teams we pick up: Akron Providence Texas Southern Liberty Idaho Rice Yale Cornell Albany Colgate We have 4 scholarships to fill this season. We are able to pick up 2 early recruits: SG Chris Brown, from Clinton, NC, has committed to Wilmington. Chris is a 3 star recruit and the #28 ranked SG. He projects to be a terrific player for us. A tremendous shooter and a pretty good defender as well.
C Thomas Guyer, from Winston Salem, NC, has committed to Wilmington. Tom is a 3 star recruit and the #35 ranked Center. He has a nice offensive game, and is a great rebounded. His defense will need a lot of work.

2052-2053 Roster
CENTERS 21 Boyd Ewers C Sr 6' 9" 241 Londonderry, NH Boyd had some good games off the bench and did a good job filling in as the starting Center last year, so he is the no brainer decision to get the start at Center this season. Good offense and great rebounding is what he brings to the table. 44 George Williams C So 6' 9" 250 Middletown, PA George gets the start at PF this year. He is also a great rebounded and brings good defense to the paint. His offense is pretty poor though. POWER FORWARDS 25 Gene Smith PF Jr 6' 9" 262 Evergreen, AL Gene will be the top backup at C and PF this year. He is a decent rebounded and defender, but does not score much. 11 Kip Emmert PF So 6' 9" 230 Atlanta, GA Kip is the second backup at the C and PF positions. He is a better rebounded than Gene Smith, but not as good of a defender. He cannot score either. SMALL FORWARDS 32 David Raines SF Sr 6' 8" 246 Lusby, MD David returns to start at SF this year. He is a better scorer than the scouts report, but won’t be lighting up the scoreboard. He can hold his own on defense and on the boards. 53 Chris Placencia SF Jr 6' 8" 241 Akron, AL Chris is not a very good player and will be hard pressed to see the floor. 40 Tony Nickens SF So 6' 8" 231 Lakewood, NJ Tony is almost as bad as Placencia, and will not see the floor either. SHOOTING GUARDS 3 George Anderson SG So 6' 2" 208 Marathon, FL George does not bring much to the table and will not see much playing time. 34 J.C. McKinney SG Fr 6' 6" 181 Miami, FL JC will be our primary backup for the SF, SG and PG positions. He is pretty decent across the board, except for his defense which is less than desirable. POINT GUARDS 2 Grant Cahill PG Sr 6' 3" 197 Knoxville, TN Grant is a terrific shooter and will get the start at SG this year. His defense is not up to par, but his great shooting skills outweigh that. 4 Jeffry White PG So 6' 2" 181 New Castle, DE Jeff struggled as a true freshman last year, but he will again get the start at the point and we hope he can show some improvement this year. 42 Lyndon Hoard PG Fr 6' 5" 198 Amherst, NY Lyndon is pretty solid across the board and will see good time backing up the guard positions as a true freshman.

Colgate (0-0) at UNC Wilmington (0-0) We open up what could be my last season here with an ugly loss, 67-58. Ewers showed he is ready for the starting job, pouring in a game high 28 points. Cahill added 12, but that is about all the offense we got.
November 22, 2052 UNC Wilmington (0-1) at Albany (0-0) We go on the road and pick up our first win of the new season, 57-47. Cahill led the team in scoring with 16 points today. White added 11, which is nice to see and Ewers scored 10.
November 26, 2052 Purdue (1-1) vs. UNC Wilmington (1-1) Our first round game in this pre season tournament is against the 3 seed and a very, very good Purdue squad. They just shut our offense down and take the 59-31 victory. Ewers was our leading scorer with 9 points. Enough said.
November Recap
It is early, but I see no way we can finish in the top 3 of this league right now. Top 25

UNC Wilmington (1-2) at Cornell (2-4) We have had about 2 weeks off to regroup and practice hard, but it is all for nothing. We drop this game, 54-51. Ewers led the team with 14 points and Cahill chipped in with 10.
December 13, 2052 UNC Wilmington (1-3) at Yale (0-4) Does it get any worst that this? We get beat here 72-64. Ewers led us with 17 points and Hoard came off the bench to score 15. Raines and Cahill each put up 10 points today.
December 17, 2052 Rice (3-5) at UNC Wilmington (1-4) We get back home and the losing continues. The final here was 59-56. Ewers led us with 14 points and Hoard added 12 off the bench. Raines had 10 for us.
Mid Month Recap
This is going to be a long season, and the end results are likely going to be me getting fired. I decide to bench White and give Hoard the start at the point. Top 25

Idaho (2-6) at UNC Wilmington (1-5) We drop our 6th straight game with a 76-63 loss here. Ewers and Cahill led the team with 14 points each. Cahill added 10 and Williams scored 8 along with 11 rebounds.
December 25, 2052 UNC Wilmington (1-6) at Liberty (5-4) We finally pick up our second win of the year, against one of the worst teams in the country, 58-45. Cahill led us with 14 points and Hoard added a dozen. I think it was a good move giving him the start.
December 29, 2052 UNC Wilmington (2-6) at Texas Southern (5-3) Our offense disappears again today and we get beat, 64-46. Raines led us with 17 points and hoard had 14. Ewers was held to just 3, but had 9 rebounds.
December Recap PG David Cooper, from Titusville, FL, has committed to Wilmington. David is a 3 star recruit and #69 in the Southeast. His is a great shooter, passer and ball handler. His defense is weak though.
League play is coming up and that is the only thing that can save my job. We need to finish top 3. Top 25

UNC Wilmington (2-7) at Fairleigh Dickinson (2-9) We pick up a victory in our league opener. That is huge. The final score was 58-43. Cahill was our leading scorer with 13 points. Hoard added 11 and Raines had 8 with 5 boards.
January 4, 2053 Providence (3-6) at UNC Wilmington (3-7) Somehow we pull off an upset win at home over this OOC opponent. The final score was 63-51 and things are starting to look up. Ewers had a terrific game, scoring 16 points and pulling in 13 rebounds. Hoard added a dozen points.
January 8, 2053 UNC Wilmington (4-7) at Georgetown (6-8) We get back into league play and get blown out bad on the road today, 79-46. Hoard led the team with 13 points and Ewers had 10 points with 10 rebounds.
January 12, 2053 UNC Wilmington (4-8) at IUPUI (6-8) We pick up a win on the road against this new AEC team, 57-38. Every win is so crucial right now, especially when we can pick up road victories. Hoard had a career day, scoring 25 points. Cahill added 13 and Ewers had 8 points and 13 rebounds.
January 15, 2053 UNC Wilmington (5-8) at James Madison (5-9) We get our second straight road win in conference with a 77-71 final. Ewers is really stepping up as of late. He scored 21 points to lead the team and also grabbed 11 rebounds. Cahill scored 18 and Hoard had 17. Moving Hoard to the starting spot could be the thing that saves my job if we can keep the momentum going.

With some early road wins, if we can hold our home court, we have a shot at a good showing. Top 25

January 22, 2053 Charleston Southern (10-5) at UNC Wilmington (6-9) We drop our second straight home game and begin sliding down the standings. The final was 66-59. We need to turn this around in a hurry. Cahill scored 11 to lead us and Raines added 10.
January 26, 2053 UNC Wilmington (6-10) at Princeton (10-7) We had no chance today, and get blown out, 76-53. Ewers had 15 points and Cahill added 11.

Princeton (12-8) at UNC Wilmington (7-11) A 77-55 loss here really is going to make it nearly impossible to climb back up. Cahill led us in scoring with 13 points and Williams scored 10 with 11 rebounds.
February 5, 2053 Fairleigh Dickinson (4-16) at UNC Wilmington (7-12) Our defense got the job done today, and a good thing since our offense never seems to. The final score was 53-39. Hoard led us with 11 points and Cahill and Ewers had 10 each. Ewers also had 9 rebounds.
February 7, 2053 Buffalo (12-9) at UNC Wilmington (8-12) We pick up our second straight win here and have a little life left in us still. The final was 62-54. Hoard led us in scoring with 19 points and Ewers added 12 along with 14 rebounds.
February 9, 2053 UNC Wilmington (9-12) at Buffalo (12-10) Our defense is really stepping it up, and we actually had one of our better offensive showing of the year on our way to a 67-51 victory. Hoard led us in scoring with 16 points but we had 2 players score 15: Cahill and Ewers. Raines also scored 8 and had 8 rebounds.
Mid Month Recap
If the season ended today, we would be in third place, possible good enough to save my job. We have to play hard the rest of the way and probably go 3-1 to finish up here. Top 25

James Madison (7-16) at UNC Wilmington (10-12) Everything seems to be coming together here and we win in a laugher, 72-32. Ewers was the POTG today with a game high 18 points and 12 rebounds. Williams had a great game scoring 13 and grabbing 13 boards. Hoard had 14 points as well.
February 19, 2053 UNC Wilmington (11-12) at Delaware State (13-9) This game was not decided until the final minute, but we were the ones to get the big bucket late in the game and take home a real close one, 75-73! Ewers remains the hot hand, scoring 18 and grabbing 8 boards. Cahill scored 14 and Raines added 10.
February 21, 2053 UNC Wilmington (12-12) at Charleston Southern (18-6) Our momentum takes a hit here today as we get beaten up 61-38. Hopefully this is just a minor speedbump. Hoard had 10 points which actually led the team in scoring.
February 26, 2053 Georgetown (13-15) at UNC Wilmington (12-13) This is our final conference game, and a win will clinch a third place finish. If we lose, we are in a big jumble of team and need some help. We come away with a 4 point victory, 62-58 and I have a legit chance to keep my job! Hoard led the team with 14 points and Cahill scored 12. We had just enough to get by the Hoyas.
February Recap PG Richard Sanders, from Mt. Juliet, TN, has committed to Wilmington. Rich is a 4 star recruit and rnaked #23 overall in the country! Easily the best recruit I have gotten here, and he was actually a late contact. I cannot wait until he arrives on campus, I just hope I am around to see him.
A great turn around and a #3 seed in the tournament. Top 25

Off Season Procedures.
Despite a 3rd place finish and the 15th ranked recruiting class, I was fired from my job at UNC Wilmington.

That sucks - I think the family is cursed. Maybe it is time to start over again.

And with that, I believe this dynasty report has led its course and will come to an end.
My first run through as 'Marmel' ended in a National championship after 5 decades of failure. Retiring that coach and beginning a new career with the same dynasty file led to failure iwth Wilmington, but I wish I could have had just 1 more season. Thanks to everyone for reading along, I hope you all enjoyed this dynasty report. Neuqua and I are working on a joint FBCB effort, but it is slow going right now, but rest assured it is not a dead project.

FYI, Wilmington went on to win the AEC tourney and make an NCAA appearance in the next year.

Great job, Marmel.
I think you showed how good FBCB is. Hopefully, some people will give it a try and it'll get the support it deserves. And I'll be lurking, watching the Neuqua/Marmel dynasty from the stands, maybe scouting for some pro prospects..... |

Hmmm...that can't be right. Top 3 is all that was expected. Must be a problem somewhere. I'll look into it.
