Tecmo Bowl Throwback
Tecmo Bowl Throwback Screenshots and Features - Operation Sports
They screwed up the playstation version, they screwed up the ds version, they messed up the wii version so badly they renamed it to something else. Lets see how they can mess this one up. |

Is it 1991 or 2009 players?
Also, how much editing does the game allow (like can you edit player attributes)? |

I am pretty sure it is 1991 players. I'd need to double check but in just playing with Detroit I know my RB is dominating everyone and wears #20. Attributes aren't editable I don't think, names are though. |

This is the first game that has caused me to regret my decision to get a Wii and not a 360 or PS3.

This is where I mention that I have never played Tecmo Bowl in any iteration, an then people quickly condemn me for that.
Do you think my 5 year old could play it? I might get it if he could play me. |

Yes, and he very well may beat you more than 50% of the time. I would compare the game to poker. There is some skill involved, but even a lousy player can luck their way into a win on a semi-regular basis. Last edited by Mizzou B-ball fan : 04-29-2010 at 10:11 AM. |

I went Odyssey -> Vic 20 -> Commodore 64 -> Amiga. I never owned a game console again until the original Xbox. I only ever played anything Nintendo spare time in someone's college dorm room. So don't feel bad.

Just played my first online game. Won 24-0 as Houston beating KC. Pretty fucking fun.
Only problem I had was I couldn't run the ball due to lag. Seemed like my guys were constantly a half second behind what I told the controller to do. Luckily he fumbled twice and I ran one back and I had a couple big passes. My D is pretty stout though |

I think I played some Tecmo Bowl game in the arcade, but I never played it on a console. I might try this out, but I'm not sure I'm interested in a game with early 1990s rosters. I mean, I'd probably feel like a piece of shit if I lost a game at the last second to the deadly Stan Gelbaugh-to-Tommy Kane connection.

its cool, the rosters are fake names but It seems clear to me that they match up perfectly with these:
GameFAQs: Tecmo Super Bowl (SNES) Roster FAQ by Toad22484 I think its 1993.

Having fun with it so far. Definitely worth $10. It's so weird not having PAT's be automatic. I jammed on the A button on my first one and it clanked off the upright. I never missed a PAT in Tecmo Super Bowl (unless it was blocked). With no 2-point conversions, the PAT's are really crucial. It's fun to switch between 2-D & 3-D on the fly. Something to do mid-game.

This isn't on PSN yet, seemingly. Maybe the 360 version would be a wiser choice, in case I want to play FOFCers.

Yes, more than likely if you wanna play against fofc people, the 360 is the way to go. Id assume this to be the same for 90% of games.

Hmmm. I bought it last night. I wonder if nostalgia colors most impressions of the game. Wasn't all that impressed. So few plays. Is there a way you can choose which receiver the QB targets?

press A (i think) while you are in the pocket, it cycles through a different receiver every time u press it, you will see an icon on the receiver.

Educate a novice here as I am definitely interested in this. I just bought Red Dead Redemption and I have been having a blast with single player and now Tecmo is out on the playstation network... what exactly do I have to do to join the playstation network? Is it free, if not how do I go about paying? Was interested in picking up some Beatles songs for Rock Band over Christmas but didn't feel like fucking with it then. I really am not cheap, and am somewhat tech saavy, I just am really lazy sometimes.

Tecmobowl.org releases a new version every year too, 32 teams, all the bells and whistles.
If a legit career mode is ever created, I'll lose my shit.
