My Personal Theology

1. I believe I was created by a loving God.
2. I believe I am alive right now because of the love and mercy of God.
3. I believe every waking minute of my life is a near-death experience, even if I don't realize it.
4. I am not afraid of death; dying is easier than living, and being dead is easier than being alive.
5. I believe that enjoying and appreciating life, being as happy as possible at all times, is the very least gesture of thanks I can make to my creator and savior. I also believe I almost always fail at this.

Based entirely based on 1-3 and 5, I believe you're a complete and utter idiot. However I also believe that as long as you don't try to force these beliefs on others, it is entirely within your right to believe as such, and may in fact benefit your life and those you know.

I don't believe in superstars,
Organic food and foreign cars.
I don't believe the price of gold;
The certainty of growing old.
That right is right and left is wrong,
That north and south can't get along.
That east is east and west is west.
And being first is always best.

But I believe in love.
I believe in babies.
I believe in Mom and Dad.
And I believe in you.

Well, I don't believe that heaven waits,
For only those who congregate.
I like to think of God as love:
He's down below, He's up above.
He's watching people everywhere.
He knows who does and doesn't care.
And I'm an ordinary man,
Sometimes I wonder who I am.

But I believe in love.
I believe in music.
I believe in magic.
And I believe in you.

Well, I know with all my certainty,
What's going on with you and me,
Is a good thing.
It's true, I believe in you.

I don't believe virginity,
Is as common as it used to be.
In working days and sleeping nights,
That black is black and white is white.
That Superman and Robin Hood,
Are still alive in Hollywood.
That gasoline's in short supply,
The rising cost of getting by.

But I believe in love.
I believe in old folks.
I believe in children.
I believe in you.

But I believe in love.
I believe in babies.
I believe in Mom and Dad.
And I believe in you.

Many of us noticed Cronin had disappeared for a while, but he finally emailed some of us earlier this week to let us know he was ok and then mentioned in THIS THREAD that he had experienced a brush with death, but was getting better now.

I believe that you can't have public discourse about religion without someone being told where to go. Here it took all of seven posts.

I'm glad you're not dead.

#2 is the trickiest - wouldn't you think god loved you even if you didn't make it?

Well, of course you wouldn't think anything, but you see my point.

I believe that I was created by two girls in search of the perfect man, kind of a gender-reversed version of Weird Science. The only problem is that they weren't well-versed in the field of genetic engineering, so it didn't work out so well.

Without speaking for Cronin, I am guessing that his recent experiences helped him see other parts of his life in more clarity and he felt good sharing that clarity here with many whom he considers friends and online friends. No intention to force his view on anyone else or try to convert anyone, but more a way to be thankful for what he realizes.

I also am guessing those that responded very poorly to Cronin's post didn't know his recent illness and trials and if they had known that, they would have less likely responded and probably kept to themselves. As this thread is obviously not the appropriate place for them to try to push their beliefs onto Cronin or anyone else and try to force it down people's throats either.

I am thankful that St.Cronin is doing better and glad that it seems his experiences have helped him become stronger rather than breaking him as a person.

I know that I didn't know this until reading later in this thread so I suspect that goatman probably didn't know that. Hell, I almost posted something in reference to the beliefs until I saw the mention about what had happened to him.

If you take what happened to cronin out of the equation I would say that goatman's post is not that bad as this thread takes on a whole new context in that issue, a very "preachy" context.

With that said, I hope all is well with cronin and remains that way.

Thank God you're ok st. cronin. I don't know what we'd do here without you. And lay off goatman, it's obvious he didn't know. Love thy neighbor and treat people how you would want to be treated. I think those are in the bible somewhere.

We're all very glad to know you're ok and will get better SC, if your beliefs help you live a longer happier life, then I send my best wishes and energies in the hopes it strengthens them even a little bit.

I sincerely believe that everyone alive today won the equivalent of 1,000 lotteries just to be born ...

Ignoring the chance of life evolving on the earth etc. - Think of the fact that out of the huge amount of sperm your dad had it was YOU that won the race ....

Taking that into consideration I think everyone should try and do their best to help another and be bappy, whether that best is something which is publicly or financially rewarded isn't important ... its the impact on a personal level which really counts imho.

(and yeah that might sound sappy - but its pretty much an accurate summing of my stance)

I believe no matter which sperm won the race it was still *me* either way. My parents had a child, *I* was that child. No matter which courier of genetic material ate through the egg sac first. Its all the exact same DNA.

I expected it to take far longer for this thread to develop as it has.

Glad you're mending St. Cronin.

I don't know what I believe about God, but I do believe that I'm glad St. Cronin is ok, and that I wish more people were ok right now.

I also believe that I'm glad I live in a country (and on a continent) where St. Cronin can post what he posted, and so can a goatman, without any real persecution (message board persecution does not count).

Finally, I believe that I'm a little drunk right now, but that I won't regret this post in the morning.
