Have you heard of this thing called LiveText? WTF is it? Sounds rather dopey/trendy/quasi scamlike to me, quite frankly.

Reason I ask, a recruiter has contacted me for a job with that company. It rang a bell as a place I saw that seemed weird, and it still does.

Don't ask me. I can't even figure out WTF the company/product is.

"LiveText's flexible Accreditation Management System™ provides institutions with the most advanced, complete, and user-friendly web-based tools for developing, assessing, and measuring student learning and more."

I have no idea wtf that even means, was hoping someone could shed some light.

Not a teacher - but it sounds like the sort of thing my kids schools have, you can log on from home and instantly see their review scores, homework assignments - that sort of thing.

(I think its great personally .. not sure what it gives teachers but for parents/students its very useful)

From what I've seen on the LiveText website it sounds like a cross between that and a webspace/interactive wiki .... probably useful, but entirely up to the institution involved really and would require all the people using it to WANT to use it (the first couple of times I tried to get SI using a wiki were a disaster as people didn't 'get' the idea, the third time however it took off ..).

Actually looks aimed at the Higher Ed market, so I'm not of help nor can I ask others.

It sounds a bit like the web interfaces a bunch of colleges are doing, where there's a local area for group work, forums where you can post homework, and areas for student management, for them to get their grades, etc.

Maryland was just starting to do all that as I was finishing up there, I'd imagine it's come a long way since then.

Sounds sort of like Blackboard. Basically a Content Management System on steroids.

On the plus side, this is a big market, and if someplace like UNC uses Livetext, then it's got to be somewhat legit.

On the minus side, the customer is the education sector, which tend to be (in my experience) a truly crazy group of stakeholders.
