Open Office 2.0 released
The new version of openoffice has been released this week. I just downloaded it and played around a bit with it. It doesn't look all that different from the last version but has a couple of nice things like the enhanced .pdf export and the database front end. For those of you that haven't heard of openoffice it's a free office suite that will run on pretty much anything(windows/linux/mac). If you don't have an office suite or have an old version of MS office you might want to check it out.

Thanks for pointing this out. I love OpenOffice and use it rather than buying MS Office.

Thanks for the update. I couldn't imagine actually buying MSOffice when this is available, outside of business use, and even then...

Just wanted to answer these in a little more detail.

I have never done this but the way to do this is when you go to save choose the extension that has the MS office choice. It should work like a charm and it's free. As far as open source programs go I think OO is one of the best, if not the best, around. I highly recommend it. |
