Question Chik-Fil-A

So Antmeister and I finally caved in and went to Chik-fil-a. While we were there, I couldn't remember what some of you ordered on a regular basis and we opted for the regular chicken sandwich combo and nuggets for the kiddos.

What's the best thing to get there? I'm too lazy and slightly inebriated to look it up myself.

BTW, those fries frieken kick. They kinda remind me of In-n-out fries.

I like the basic chicken sandwich combo. I definitely agree on the fries.

The basic sandwich combo is, AFAIK, the overwhelming favorite for most people.

Both the lemonade and the tea are usually above average for counter service restaurants & are a good choice over standard soft drink fare.

I love the regular chicken sandwich, but I always ask for extra pickles to make it just right.

Their nuggets are the best. In general I'm not really a chicken nuggets fan, mainly BECAUSE Chick-fil-a has spoiled me for all other nuggets. Sans sauce, too. Sauce only detracts from the wonder that is the Chick-fil-a nugget.

Down side: I always seem to crave them most on Sundays. Zounds.

The fries absolutely rock.

I tend to order the chicken strips myself.

They are closed on Sundays to worship Satan, always the day I want some. I hate them for that.

I used to get Chick-Fil-a when I went to the Florida Mall in Orlando when I lived in Poinciana (Kissimmee), and it was pretty good. Not even remotely good as most of you people say, but decent.

The regular chicken sandwich is, IMO, horribly overpriced compared to other fast food joints (price is too high for the value). I prefer Wendy's Spicy Chicken Sandwich in taste and price.

And Schmidty is right... it is above average, but nothing that special. And for some freaking reason they don't have a Spicy Chicken sandwich yet. Even McDonald's has one now!

Wow... that's a lot closer than I expected... but Roseville is a good 70-90 minutes from my house... and even from my office in Folsom, I couldn't make it on a lunch break... but next time I gotta be in that part of town, I'm totally there.

I don't eat meat any more, but it won't be long until you are all caught up with What-A-Burger, it grows on you as odd as tat may seem. I hated their burgers when I came down here, but before I stopped eating beef I liked them a lot.

OK, that's it ... you and Schmidty need to turn in your FOFC membership cards. Chick-Fil-A is the Official Chicken Sandwich of FOFC, and any suggestion to the contrary will not be tolerated. Especially if your alternative suggestion is a Wendy's chicken sandwich or -- god forbid -- McDonald's.

Wendy's is OK, but once we get Chick-Fil-A here in town I've had my last Wendy's chicken sandwich. I'm just wasting valuable calories with that stuff. Chick-Fil-A must put crack in those sandwiches considering how addicted people get to the place.

And then there's the breakfast sandwich ... where else can you get chicken for breakfast? Gold.

Sorry, it just isn't that good as certain people say . I mean, Hell, our HNIC extols the virtues of Sonny's as a barbecue place... SONNY'S! That should tell you all you need to know about how much respect FOFC's "official" taste buds should be given.

Chick-Fil-A is ok, but nothing special in the slightest. In fact, they are quite a bit plain. Though I guess a few packets of hot sauce and some mayo gives it some taste.

And you can get a chicken sandwich for breakfast as McD's now: The Southern Style Chicken Biscuit, which actually is GREAT! I'd recommend it over Chick-Fil-A's chicken biscuits.

Though Chick-Fil-A does have very good salads. I like the Chikn' Strips one or the Southwestern one (though that doesn't have the sunflower seeds) with the Spicy dressing.

No, they're mediocre burgers, but people seem to be in love with the concept, and there's always a 15-car line at their drive thru. I've eaten there on half a dozen occassions, and it's just never impressed me.

Now Whataburger... that's a good burger joint.

Best thing to get there is the lemonade.

I've noticed inconsistencies but when its done right, the lemonade is the best.

I always pronounce their name Chik-A-Fil for some reason. It sounds...more righter. Anyhow, I agree that the nuggets are the best. Also, I think they're open on Sunday down here. Both of them are in the Malls down here. I don't think I've ever seen a standalone Chik-Fil-A.

Both of our Chik-Fil-As are in shopping malls down here. I didn't know they were standalone restaurants (like McD's, BK, etc.).

They got their start in the malls but over the past several years they've emphasized a lot of new Free Standing Unit locations, now about 1/3rd of their 1,250 locations are FSU's. This one is pretty much the standard design

nugget combo, the one that comes with the slaw. Their fries are my favorite fries ever, home cooked, nicer restaurants, other fast food, etc. My wife's and my mom's home cooked fries are 2nd and 3rd, but Chik Fil A's are #1.

I looked a couple of days ago because I was really jonesing some Chik-Fil-A and, within 100 miles, the only ones are in malls or college campus shops. Not a single standalone

I get the original combo, but add lettuce, cheese and bacon to the sandwich...fries are awesome, but they have to be dipped in ketchup with tabasco mixed in! Add a half sweet tea/half lemonade and it's the perfect meal...I swear I could eat that everyday and never get tired of it!

My standard is 2 Chik-Fil-A sandwiches, each with the pickle removed by me (so that the juice remains) and with a slice of cheese added. Also waffle fries and a large Sprite. This meal is directly out of heaven.

Hah, that first part made me chuckle.

I agree on chick-fil-a. Fries are ok. Chicken is ok, but not spectacular. Everything seems small too - when I go there I feel like I need to order two combos or eat half my family's to fill me up. And no, it isn't cheap. My wife (southern roots) likes it much more than I.

I'd probably go for a BK chicken, but I'm biased from working there (back when they had the Italian Chicken...mmm). Tough to beat a $1 from McD's for value too.

Oh, and i'll plug their breakfasts as well. The sausage, egg, and cheese buscuit is delicious and filling (unlike the McDonalds egg mc morsels).

Chik-Fil-A = great chicken sandwich, nuggets are very good, but I like Wendy's nuggets as well. Add some sweet tea and those lovely fries and it's a great meal.

WhatABurger = What in the world? Had burgers when i first got here last year and have been back maybe once since. They're ok, but overrated. Maybe it's the ones here in West Texas, but I don't even consider WhatABurger when I want a burger...and I pass by one just about every day.

Moriarty is dead on about their shakes. It might be the best chain restaurant milkshake I've had. I go for the nuggets or strips when I go for lunch, but their best is the chicken biscuit. Does anyone have a Bojangle's nearby? That's the only other place I know of that serves chicken for breakfast.

Well McDonald's does now, as I stated above .

As for best chain restaurant milkshake... I'll still go with Steak n' Shake .

Yummy.

I think there's only one Chick-Fil-A in the entire state of NJ, but there may be 2.
