FOOL Baltimore-Hammersmith

Baltimore sends
2b Bob Barr, CL Meiji Chikafuji. and 3B Mike Carter
to Hammersmith for
RF Tetsui Fujii , MR Juan Ortíz and CL Tomás Quintanilla

This is an interesting trade from a Baltimore perspective.
Bob Barr is my type of player. High average, good gap power, and good defense at several positions. He is just what i am looking for in the #2 spot in my batting order.
But I beleive Tomas Quintanilla has the goods to be a great closer....and I...LOVE...Relief pitching! So Barr had to be sacrificed.

Chikafuji (or as I like to call him "CTRL C" as I can never remember how to spell his name) is no slouch either. He wont be a hall of famer, but he will carve out a nice career in Hammersmith.

Carter is what he is..which is a potential backup infielder and hadn't even bought a house in Baltimore yet, while Fujjii will platoon vs lefties for me this year at a cheap price and Ortiz will make my squad as my mopup man. Basically all 3 were just added in to round out the deal.

Thanks for the deal Chief!

Confirmed. I'm posting from my phone, so I'll probably add more info later.

Thanks, Eric and good luck this season.

All right, I finally have a chance to comment on this one. Eric and I have always liked the same sorts of players, and if anything, in his absence, my eye for talent probably became even more ekcut-like. In that respect, Barr is a very good fit for my team, and Quintanilla a very real loss. Still, I have a good depth in the pen in my system and the second base answer just doesn't seem to be out there on the free agency market. All in all, I think this is a deal which will help both teams, which is the best you can hope for. Thanks again, Eric.

Alan, my players will be on the DFA list.
