2017 NFL Week 2 Thread
Because the Bengals' ineptitude extends beyond Week 1 but is still being chronicled there.

It's really hard to put into words just how bad Glennon is when pressured. He looks solid when he has a clean pocket though.

And Kizer is out with a migraine. I wonder which QB they'll draft next.

Cards experience finally shows up just in time with a big INT in OT and then a FG for the win against the Colts. Whew.

I am now hoping for a shocking Jets win after almost everyone went with the Raiders in our Survival league.

Youre not allowed to actually tackle apparently. Irvin should have politely asked him to fall to the ground

I didn't catch him last week, but watching him on the Pats game this week - I really like Romo on TV. Knowledgeable, funny, some emotion, not too serious.
Edit: Though with the QB play on some teams thus far he probably can jump back on the field anytime if he wants. Last edited by molson : 09-17-2017 at 05:54 PM. |

WTF were the Dolphins doing calling a timeout? They deserved to have lost the game. They got lucky the kicker missed it.

I wasnt watching but I would assume they call the timeout at 10 seconds so they could get a chance on the return otherwise wouldnt the Chargers have ran it down to 3 seconds and called their own timeout? Last edited by jbergey22 : 09-17-2017 at 06:06 PM. |

The Chargers had no timeouts left. On 2nd down they "positioned" the ball in the middle of the field. With the clock running they were extremely confused, half of the offense started to go off the field and the other half was lining up to spike the ball. The kicking team was partly on the field. they were looking around trying to figure out what to do. At that points I see no chance that they could have gotten the kicking team on and set to get the kick off but Miami calls timeout. The way the Chargers' offense was moving it almost seemed like some of them thought they still had a timeout left. |

Yes, certainly odd timing to call it then. Yahoo Sports said the Chargers had 2 left so Yahoo must be incorrect. Last edited by jbergey22 : 09-17-2017 at 06:15 PM. |

They actually had to use their last one the previous play when the receiver who caught the ball for the 1st down decides to celebrate instead of lining up for the next play. It was a very weird set of plays. |

Man, how bad does the NFC West look right now? Seahawks, which have never lost at home in September under Pete Carroll, have 7 straight wins against the Niners, needed until midway in the 4th to take the lead, Cardinals struggle to beat the Colts in OT with their 3rd string QB. Rams may be the best team there right now.

The Seahawks should still coast in that division, but their window has more or less closed. I don't see how they win multiple playoff games with that offensive line. |

Marcellus Bennett is having about as bad a half as you can possibly have, short of having a couple of fumbles returned for TD's

So is the pylon considered irrelevant & not an extension of the sideline? Makes sense if so, but don't think I've ever seen a runner or receiver hit it before having possession in the end zone. Nice catch by Adams.

I assume it's considered the same as it is on a play where possession has been established - an extension of the goal line |

Belichick likes Sean Payton, so he called off the dogs.
Had the Pats been in the mood, they could have put up 60 points and 700 yards. Hard to believe, but the Saints' defense appears worse than the defenses over the last few years that set NFL records for sucking. |

And credit to the Pats, who only had 3 WR active for the game due to injuries. Most teams would have assumed that was not doable and called up some practice squad guys or signed a street FA or two the week before the game so that they would have the "right" number of WRs active. And those guys would have been replacement level players at best (and probably worse b/c of lack of time practicing with the team/playbook). The Pats realized that it's better to instead replace those WR spots with RBs and TEs that are good players and know the offense and not be so pigeonholed into "we need at least 5 WRs active on gameday" thinking. |

Injury Report Week 2: Not good for Greg Olsen or Vic Beasley. Maybe not good for Randall Cobb.
Injuries: Pats' Hightower (MCL) could return this week - NFL.com

Front 7's still a huge work in progress, but showed more consistency this week than last when a guy who basically hadn't practiced (Cassius Marsh) played most of the 2nd half. Deatrich Wise flashed a little - he already drew the Trey Flowers comparisons as a 4th round DE from Arkansas, so hopefully he can show the same growth Flowers did last year. |

The Chargers are going to be a bizarre thing for the NFL to deal with over the coming years. They have a fun team, brand new to LA, and couldn't draw 20,000 to their first home game. Imagine how empty the new stadium will look.

Cheapest primary market tickets were 200 dollars as well. I meant to check back to see what they were going for on the secondary market a few days before seeing as it wasn't going to sell out but completely forgot
Seems like pretty incredible hubris - a team moves to a city it has very little support and that quite frankly didn't want them, decides to play in a joke of a stadium and charges an outrageous amount for its first home game. Shouldn't they be trying to win people over? I can't see them lasting five years in LA at this pace. |

This is at kickoff in the 25,000 seat stadium they are playing at. It was also apparently 50/50 Dolphins fans.

We get more people for Blue Bombers games and our team has been terrible for the past 20+ years.

Where have all the decent offensive linemen gone this season? Seems like half the teams in the league can't even keep their QB up long enough to have a decent offense

In theory at least, aren't college teams supposed to be preparing guys for the pros? If linemen aren't being taught NFL skills, why are they going to college, and why aren't NFL teams going after the best HS linemen and developing them themselves?

Yeah, it's interesting to wonder when it might come to that. I'm also wondering what rule change the NFL puts in next to try and even the playing field.

I also think part of the problem is offenses wanting to throw 40+ times a game. This has allowed defenses to play defenders who are strictly pass rushers.
