wow 13th warrior? I'm a bit surprised. I haven't seen it, but I loved the book, originally published as "Eaters of the Dead". I think it is my favorite of the Chriton books.

Gonna have to put it on my BlockBuster list.

Bah I really liked Mars Attack.

Hudson Hawk also...Napoleon Dynamite...Dumb & Dumber...

Some good horrible movies would be the Dungeons & Dragons flick which was just awful, and whatever the recent Godzilla was, Godzilla 2000 or something? Remember some friends and I went to see it at the theater and we ended up the only people there. That was the only redeeming quality of the film.

This is pretty close to my list...

I debate between LOTR/Star Wars (original trilogy)/Aliens for best.

Highlander 2 is hands down the worst movie I have every seen in theater. Ever. As for cable/rentals, that's a whole 'nother story, though Basket Case 2 is always high on the list of bad. Very, very bad...

Eh Hudson Hawk was good in that classic B movie way, it knew it sucked and didn't take itself seriously.

Been years since I've seen it, but I remember enjoying it..obviously it's no cinematic masterpiece.

Can like it the same way people like Big Trouble in Little China(which rocks), Buckaroo Banzai or any of the crap classics.

Fair enough, I'm not going to argue their greatness as it'd be a losing battle..but I think they're far from the worst movies of all time, as the sole purpose of them was just to have a fun movie, and they accomplished that..just at the expense of a cohesive plot or believable characters.

I'll take the silliness of these over most of the pure crap films that are released is what I'm saying.

I really liked watching the re-released Star Wars in theater since I was too young when they came out originally. Also, for all it's script problems, Matrix: Reloaded was a great theater movie because the effects scenes were just so damn good to the point where going home, you see a truck go by and check to see that an agent didn't just materialize in the driver's seat.

Worst. Hm... the only movie I've ever walked out of was Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. Three of us had headaches less than halfway in because of the horrible camera work. Then again, if a movie's questionable, I'm not spending money in a theater to watch it- in other words, if it doesn't look like something I'd like in the previews, then I'll wait and just rent it in most cases. Speaking of rentals, I couldn't stand Being John Malcovich- just a flat out stupid movie. Also, I really wanted the two hours of my life back when I watched The Fast and the Furious but it was a free HBO or Showtime or something preview weekend so I can't complain too much.

Best - The Godfather
Worst - Highlander II

Personal Favorites:
Garden State, Wonder Boys

Personal Dislike:
Clockwork Orange (I am a fan of Stanley's, but man, this sucker just goes to far over the line without enough redeeming qualities for me. There needs to be more of a reason to shock in my book, instead of only for shock's sake.)

Sadly, I found Godzilla 2000 in the $5 DVD bin at Wal-Mart and bought it for Anthony, who thinks it's a great movie. He keeps complaining that I don't watch it with him, I make it through the first 5 minutes or so and then either fall asleep on the couch, pick up a book, or go in the other room. I would say it's definitely the worst movie ever made!

Best: there are too many to list...The English Patient, Shakespeare in Love, The Godfather 1 and 2, the list could go on and on...pretty much any non-kids movie that radii doens't like, I love, including Sense and Sensiblity

Four Weddings and a Funeral is one of my favorites. In fact the year it came out was a great year in cinema. Pulp Fiction, Shawshank Redemption, Forrest Gump, Four Weddings and a Funeral, and the Oscar nominees were rounded out with The Madness of King George. That is certainly the best crop of Oscar nominees ever for a given year. I think three of four of them could have easilly won Best Picture if not for the competition.

Of course, if you missed the whole anti peace and love crowd themes and the whole satirical anti rehabilitation plot both of which were huge issues in the late 60's early '70's and the very obvious statement that there's a bit of violence in us all and there very well has to be to survive in society in general, then yeah, it's just shock for shocks sake.

A lot of us got a lot more out of it though. Can a man survive without violence? We had just had the civil rights movement which was non violent and people were really into the whole peace and love thing and the doctors in the movie were modeled after this ideal. Very idealistic, very sheltered ivory tower types, concerned with theory and science who hadn't lived in the real world like Alex did so see they couldn't have known what everyone else knows, life is a bitch and sometimes you have to be too.

We also had one of their own, the victims husband, who knew the truth and in fact, he himself disproves their whole point by his treatment of Alex after he finds out who he was. See, even the ultra liberal peaceful guys are capable of opening up a can of whoop ass and if you aren't ready to fight back, you're screwed.

The whole law/criminal scale is cleverly commented by his ex gang members becoming police but really never changingwhich was also extremely topical in that era when pigs was the operative word for policemen.

Of course, it could have all been just shock for shocks sake.

If I were at home right now, I think I would put on a bit of the old Ludwig Van and relax a bit.

Worst movies:

Kiss of the Spider Woman
Red Zone Cuba

Best:

Godfather I and II
Princess Bride
Raising Arizona - not unless round is funny.

Lots more on both lists but these will do for now.
