FOFC Gift Exchange Year 4
It's time once again for what has become a tradition around these parts: The FOFC Gift Exchange. We will be running the gift exchange similar to how it has been run in previous years. We have gone with a $30 spending limit previously, is this still good with everyone? Open for discussion. Otherwise reply with a message that you'd like to be involved and then PM me your address to make it official. Feel free to send me any wishlists if you want, though it is more interesting to have people pick out a gift for you based on what they know of you.
Deadline for signing up will be December 7, and I will send out names on December 8 and we will aim to have all packages mailed by December 17. Questions? I think anyone on the board should be welcome. It shouldn't be that hard to get something to Europe.

Shipping to Europe seems considerably more expensive than shipping inside the US/Candad. Perhaps people could state whether they were Europe OK or not?

I'd like to be able to get in on this, but I wouldn't be back in the States until the 21st, meaning either higher shipping costs for my sending out or whoever person I got not receiving until after Christmas....
And I'm not sure either situation would be ideal.

Guys, if this represents some sort of a problem, don't worry, I won't participate. Shipping from the US is indeed more expensive, unfortunately (tell me about it...). So, unless other Euros jump in, I'm out.

Emiliano: What if you provide a couple of websites that are Europe based so that there wouldn't be cross-Atlantic shipping? If you want to participate I'd like to see a way to make it happen.
Afterall, it's fucking Christmas.

Ok, let's try. The one I use the most is certainly Play.com, UK-based. One week, max, and the stuff arrives. Never had a problem with them. Other ones... I really don't know at the moment. I mostly buy on eBay.com, Amazon.com (also have a wishlist), and Tronixweb.com, all US-based. Also, there is another site that is "specialized" in international orders, Videogameplus.ca, Canada-based. And yeah, these are all CD/DVD/Games retailers, pretty much what I buy on the internet. |

Shipping to Europe isn't too bad if the item is under 4 lbs and meets the 1st class size requirement so, a 2 1/2 lb package would cost about $20.00 to Europe. (2 1/2 lbs is pretty decent.. that is the weight of an average board game and a computer game could be about 1 1/2 lbs or less). If there were enough people to separate people into groups, that would work but, hate to exclude anyone over an extra $5-10.

sounds good to me. I agree everyone should be included if they want to be. So what will happen is unless I get a PM stating otherwise, I'll assume you're ok with sending to wherever. Also first post is updated with people I've received info from.

How does this work again, specifically do people just post generally about their interests so that their person has some idea what to get them?

Nope, it's about the gift giver doing a bit of research on their person, and finding what they would truly enjoy.
