Post Welcome Back LA Stars!!!!!

The LA Stars have been resurrected. I have finally managed to retrieve this file from my old computer. It is no so hard....after I figured out what to do. The Terrible Three dynasty has been put on hold, while I continue this career. Like I said before, this has been my favorite career in all my time of playing FOF, and I am glad to be able to revive it.

2002-2014 recap:

The Stars came into existence in 2002. LA recieved the expansion franchise and placed the team in the former home of the LA Raiders (now in Oakland)...the LA Coliseum. They went 4-12 in their first year. But in the next couple of drafts they drafted a few players who would change not only the Stars, but the entire city of LA for the next decade and beyond.

The first ever pick by the Stars was S Kyle Bryant. Later, the Stars would draft his younger brother, S Ray Bryant. They would form the best Safety tandem in the league.

RB Arnold Hammond was a 2003 pick, and he has been one of the best RB’s in the league.

Then, in 2004, QB Troy Pinson was drafted. He would go on to win 4 MVP awards, and be the most famous player in the history of the NFL. He single handedly turned LA into what they call “The new LA.” After a brief decline in popularity, due to extreme parity in the late 90’s and early 2000’s, in the NFL, Troy Pinson led the Stars into forming a new dynasty, and bringing the NFL back to being the #1 sport in the US. To break away from the stigma of playing in the old Raiders stadium, it was renamed to BioClone Stadium. The Raiders and Stars have an ugly rivalry, but the Stars have been dominant as of late.

In only thier 5th year of existance, The Stars won a Superbowl. They followed it up with 4 more....winning 5 consecutive Superbowls from 2006-2010. In 2012, and 2013, they made it to the Superbowl, losing both times to the Kurt Warner led Rams. Warner would retire after that 2nd win, the 3rd of his career.

In 2014, the Stars would go 14-2 and get the #1 seed in the AFC. They would make the Superbowl that year, and they will face the Dallas Cowboys. This is where I left off a few months ago.

Roster:
QB Troy Pinson, all world QB has won 4 MVP’s and 5 Superbowls.
RB Arnold Hammond has won 5 Superbowls as well, and this may be his last year starting for the Stars. His rating have declined sharply.
FB Jeff Sanders. One of the best in the league, an 11 year vet.
TE Jeff Walker, 2nd year starter
WR Robert Colby, 8 year vet, and an All-Star
WR Tyrus Huntley, 2nd year man, new to the starting job.
C Perry Farrow, 4 year man who anchors the OL
G Luther Abrams, 9 year superstar
G Willie Grim “Reaper”, 3 year man starting to develope nicely.
T Kyle Murphy, aging star who’s rating are starting to decline
T Jon Jansen, see Kyle Murphy

DE Lewis Ferderer, 8 year player who is very consistant on the DL.
DE Nick Lucido, 13 year vet who is near the end of his career
DT Edwin Humphries, 5 year player who is an up and coming star
DT Brady Kolozdik, 11 year vet who has anchored the DL for the past decade.
LB Lawrence Stermer, 7 year pro, but the first with the Stars
LB Otis Musgrave, 9 year pro, 2nd year with the Stars
LB Victor Boswell, 7 year pro, 3rd year on the team
CB Grady Maxwell, 3rd year player
CB Bruce Aliabadi, 2nd year pro, shares starting job with other 2nd year pro Ken Meadows
S Kyle Bryant, 1st ever Stars draft pick
S Ray Bryant, younger brother of Kyle, and has now surpassed him, skill wise

Coach: Lawrence Olin
Scout: Courtney Blackwood

Both Coach Olin and Scout Blackwood have been with the team since day 1. The single biggest factor in the Stars run has been Coach’s training program. Out injuries have been the fewest I have ever seen.

Their record is 166-69 (.706) 10 playoff appearances, 7 Superbowls, 5 Superbowl championships!

The team is playing in its 8th Superbowl in the last 9 years.

This year’s Superbowl comes to you from Miami, Florida. The weeklong festivities are over and its game time. One of the annual highlights of the Superbowl is to see who FishFan shows up with. In the past he has been here with Julia Robert, and the 21 year old Olsen Twins. Here he comes know...it looks like he has come this year with.......Hal Sutton? I don’t think I want to know about this.

Anyway, this year’s came will feature the 14-2 LA Stars against the 12-4 Cowboys.

LA wins the toss and will receive. They go 3 and out. Dallas takes over inside the 20. They return the 3 and out favor. On first down, Pinson throws deep, but its picked off. The Stars make the TD saving tackle at the 1 yard line, and the Cowboys have a golden opportunity against heavily favored LA. On 2nd down the Cowboys score the TD. 7-0 Cowboys. Pinson and the Stars get the ball back and go on a nice 5+ minute drive, capped off by a Pinson to Powell TD pass. 7-7. Dallas picks up one first down on their next possession, then shank a 25 yard punt. A holding call cancels the positive field position LA started with and they punt to end the 1st quarter.

Midway through the 2nd quarter, Pinson scrambles into the endzone and the Stars take the lead, 14-7. With under a minute left in the half, Pinson hits Colby for another TD, and the Stars lead 21-7. Their is a sense of calmness in the lockerroom at the half, and it is all business like. The Stars are not resting on their laurels. They still have to play focused ball in the 2nd half to get Pinson and Hammond their 6th rings.

Dallas starts the 2nd half with a nice drive, but it ends with a FG, instead of the TD they needed. 21-10 Stars. LA gets the ball and goes three and out, but Dallas fumbles the punt and the Stars take over in Dallas territory. They cannot capatilize, but pin the Cowboys down at their 6 yard line. After a Dallas punt, LA tacks on a FG to make it 24-10, Stars. The 3rd quarter expires as Dallas moves into LA territory.

Dallas can’t continue their drive and they are forced to punt. Pinson takes over the game at this point and leads the team to another TD, by running it in himself again. He has now thrown for 2 and ran for 2 TD’s and this game is all but over. 31-10 Stars. The game ends 38-10 and the Stars are back on top of the football world! Troy Pinson wins the game MVP award.

Pittsburgh’s QB Jamie Wells is named the NFL MVP this year.

Stars on the first team:
G Luther Abrams

2nd team:
QB Troy Pinson
FB Jeff Sanders
WR Robert Colby
P Jay Rupp
K Wade Richey

By this time, the 55 year old Sutton has won several major championships, including the 2002 Masters. Why would I not want to take such an amazing golfer, and good friend, to the Super Bowl. I was growing tired of Julia Roberts and those tasty Olsen twins.

2015 offseason:

The Stars sold 98.3% of their seating for 2014, which ranks them top 10. We also turned a 36 million dollar profit. Oakland upped their ticket prices, so we did the same, staying a couple of dollars cheaper than them in every catagory. The Stars are trying to negotiate a deal to move out of the BioClone Stadium...they want to shed the last connection between them and the Raiders. It doesn’t seem like a deal will be struck for another year or two, but keep on the lookout for this news. The public supports the idea 100% right now.

Coach Olin and our Scout stay aboard for yet another year.

Free Agency: We made no moves this year. Our goal was to bring back the impact players from last year, and that we did. We lost a couple of backups that left ofr green pastures, and greener bank accounts....the usual abandoners. He head to the draft and basically look to fill a couple of holes. RB is a concern. Arnold Hammond decided not to retire, but he will be of limited use. In starting 16 games last year, he didn’t even reach 500 yards. His career is over, but he doesn’t know it yet. The Stars management doesn’t want to cut him due to layalty, plus he is idolized in LA, second most popular player behind QB Troy Pinson.

Draft:

1) WR Brady Jaster. A great first round pick, and will be the #2 man behind Colby...may be #1 someday
2) T Trevor Riddle. A nice looking tackle who will take over after our current guys retire.
3) LB Arnold Lane. Terrific potential...will be great if he lives up to it.
4) TE Norman Kinney. A pretty decent TE, but will be a backup on our team for quite a while.
5) WR Dustin Harrison. Basically will be used on special teams.
6) RB Jim Joyner. Lighting quick, but not much else here.
7) QB Clyde Korzuk. Had to draft the Stanford guy who is well liked by their fans.

We sign a couple undrafted rookie to fill out the roster and head to training camp.

We had a minor breakout in our undrafted rookie, Bruce McElroy. A nice surprise and he could contribute nicely to this team.

2015 Starting lineup:

QB Troy Pinson
RB Bob Torgerson (Hammond is 2nd string now...Bob is not the answer at RB, but will have to do.)
FB Jeff Sanders
TE Jeff Walker
WR Robert Colby
WR Stan Powell (Rookie Brady Jaster will see significant PT, and probably start next year)
C Perry Farrow
G Willie Grim “Reaper”
G Luther Abrams
T Jon Jansen
T Kyle Murphy

DE Lewis Federer
DE Nick Lucido
DT Brady Kolozdik
DT Edwin Humphries
LB Otis Musgrave
LB Victor Boswell
LB Lawrence Stermer
CB Grady Maxwell
CB Bruce Alaibadi
S Kyle Bryant
S Raymond Bryant

2015 PreSeason:

The unthinkable happens in the Stars first preseason game. Troy Pinson goes down for 2-3 months with arthroscopic knee surgery. He was tackled on a very late hit by Colts rookie DT Aaron Numbers. A scrub trying to impress the coaches.
So backup QB Morris Harper comes in and three plays later goes down with torn thumb ligaments and will be out for 2-3 months as well.
The team will now be led by 7th round draft pick, rookie out of Stanford, Clyde Korzuk.

The Stars go 1-3 in the preseason without Pinson. However, he is making a remarkable comeback from the injury and is now listed as 3-5 weeks. With his determination, he may be back in time for the second home game in week 4, but that is very optimistic. If the Stars could win a few without him, I think the coaches will hold him out until he is fully recovered...but if things are going poorly, he may come back early.

2015 Regular Season:

Week 1:
Oakland (0-0) at LA (0-0). Oakland is dying to win in LA. They haven;t accomplished that for a few years now, and LA is primed to be upset. A FG with 1 second left lifts the Raiders to a 15-14 victory. Korzuk threw an early TD pass, but ended with only 82 passing yards (no INTs). The running game was stagnant.

Week 2:
LA (0-1) at Denver (0-1). The mysterious man in the orange wig, with the Autotote horse racing stubs makes his annual appearance in Denver for the Broncos/Stars game. Nobody is able to track him down and get an identity on him. A very sneaky indivual he is. Denver shuts out the Stars, 19-0. The coaches toy with bringing back Pinson, but they decide to wait one more week. They annouce he will play in week 4!

Week 3: LA (0-2) at Seattle (0-2). Seattle wins 24-17. LA is in an 0-3 hole now, and Pinson has his work cut out for him. He needs to stay healthy, and his god-like stature can become absolutly legandary if he can lead this team back.

Week 4: Miami (2-1) at LA (0-3). Troy makes his return a triumphant one, and in a big way. The Stars pound on Miami, 45-6. Troy’s stat line: 23/36, 307 yards, 5 Tds, 0 INTs. The team has finally found life again. G Luther Abrams goes down for 2-3 months, and we are very thin at that position. It will hurt.

Week 5: Seattle (1-3) at LA (1-3). These are 2 very different 1-3 teams, but like the saying goes, you are what your record says you are. The Stars try to disprove that theory by rolling 38-7 over the SeaChickens. Pinson with 4 more TD passes, against no INTs. The running game has been abismal....I don’t think anybody has even had a 50 yard rushing game. This is going to be priority #1 in the offseason. I may even make my once every decade trade for a good RB.

Week 6: LA (2-3) at KC (1-4). There was some trash talking by former Stars TE Xavier Rigot (now with the Chieffs) before this game. The defense shut him up by holding him to 21 yards receiving, way below his season average. The Stars get to .500 on the year and win, 38-11. Pinson is unconscious so far this year. Add in another 3 Tds with no INTs, and you have a 12:0 ratio in three games (QB rating of 137.9).

Week 7: LA (3-3) at Pittsburgh (5-1). A big test for the Stars. Pittsburgh is trying to take the title of most dominant team away from the Stars, and this is their chance to make a bigtime statement. The Stars cannot answer the Steelers emotional 4th quarter, and lose after leading, 22-11. Pinson shows he is mortal by throwing 3 picks against an angry defense...no Tds.

Week 8: LA (3-4) at New England (1-6). A chance for the Stars to regain some confidence after last weeks painful loss. Holding the Patsies to 26 rushing yards, the Stars do their imitation of the Big Angry and shut out the lowly Pats, 31-0. Pinson rebounds with 3tds to no INTs. Arnie Hammond has a classic day for himself and gets 78 yards as the backup RB...the highest single game total of any Star this year.

Mid-Season report:

QB Troy Pinson started 5 games. 103/159 (64.7%) for 1,343 yards, 15 Tds and 3 INTs, rating of 114.8, best in the league.

Our RB corps does not register, even as a blip, on the league list for top RB’s.

WR Robert Colby has 525 receiving yards with 3 Tds.
WR (rookie) Brady Jaster has almost 400 yards and leads the team with 4 TD receptions.

LB Otis Musgrove is 6th in the league with 54 tackles.
Our DL is not getting enough pressure on opposing QB’s. Federer leads the team with only 3 sacks.
CB Bruce Aliabadi has solidified his starting spot by leading the team with 4 picks. The younger Bryant brother, Ray has 3. Kyle does not have any.

A resurrgent Oakland team leads the division at 5-2. Denver and LA are close behind at 4-4. Pittsburgh, and the Austin Rattlesnakes are both at 7-1.

The NFC race is wide open, with the Vikings and Rams looking a little better than the rest of the pack. The Rams have continued on without Kurt Warner fairly nicely. 11-5 last year and 5-2 so far this year. The Rams are the only team that has given the Stars good competition on a consistant basis over the last decade.

Week 9: Atlanta (3-4) at LA (4-4). Coach Olin has brought back G Luther Abrams a little early. He is still listed as questionable, but he wants to get some sort of running game going in the second half of the season. He has also put Arnold Hammond back into the starting role to shake things up. The Stars win 31-13, and the running game saw some signs of life. 2 TD’s were scored rushing, 1 by Arnold.

Week 10: Denver (4-4) at LA (5-4). A big division game with playoff implications. The Stars are upset at home, 26-21. The defense let the Broncos storm back with 2 Tds in the final 5 minutes. The Stars team morale is at an all time low.

Week 11: bye. They need this week to get their heads on straight.

Week 12: LA (5-5) at Oakland (6-4). A win on the road for the Stars will tie them for the division lead. They also want revenge for opening week. But it is not to be. Oakland is celebrating their first season sweep of the Stars in well over 10 years. They have also dealt a serious blow to the Stars playoff chances. A 13-10 loss, and a return to the anemic running game has the Stars morale even lower now. Pinson needs to step up and lead this team back, right now.

Week 13: KC(4-7) at LA (5-6). The Stars are able to get back to .500 with a 31-19 victory. Pinson throws for 3 Tds and no INTs. Hopefully this is the start of a 5 game winning streak.

Week 14: LA (6-6) at St. Louis (8-4). This is a huge test for the Stars, on the road nonetheless. It comes at a bad time for the Stars when they need to keep winning. Hammond and Pinson are each responsible for a TD and the defense does its job. Its just like the golden days of this franchise, and the Stars win 17-3. A truly inspired performance by the 2 old pros. #2 WR Stan Powell is questionable for next week, so our rookie WR Jasper will get the start. next week.

Week 15: LA (7-6) at San Diego (4-9). The Stars cannot let this road game slip by them. 4 rushing touchdowns gave the Stars the win, but the Chargers gave them all they could handle. The final score was 35-28.

Week 16: San Fran (8-6) at LA (8-6). Two teams playing for their playoff lives. Thankfully, this one is at home. The Stars are 1 game out of the division lead, and tied with Denver for 2nd. They would be out of the playoffs on tie-breakers if the season ended now. The Stars respond with 48 points and crush the 49ers. Togenson runs for 108 yards, the first 100 yard game this year. We had three rushing and three passing Tds to showcase our balance offensively, as of late.

The division has Oakland and LA at the top at 9-6. Oakland has that tiebreaker advantage due to the season sweep. They play the early game in week 17, against the 7-8 Panthers, in Carolina.

Week 17: San Diego (4-11) at LA (9-6). San Diego has packed it in for the season, but Coach wants the team to stay focused. Oaklnad gets beat down in Carolina, so the Stars could take the division. They make a statement by winning 41-13, and claiming the division title. They will be the #3 seed in the playoffs, and will not get a bye week.

2015 Playoffs:

Wildcard Weekend: Cleveland (9-7) at LA (10-6). Cleveland wins the toss and will receive. They go three and out after only a gain of 2 yards. The Stars waste no time in moving downfield and scoring a quick TD, Pinson to Powell. Cleveland moves into LA territory on their next drive, but fail to convert on 4th and 1. LA takes over, and kicks a FG to go ahead 10-0. After a holding call and an offside, the Browns are backed up to their 5 yard line. Trying to make something happen, their QB tries to squeeze the ball between CB Meadows and S Bryant. Meadows picks it off and takes it back for 6. Tack ont he EP and its 17-0, Stars. Cleveland gets another shot, but goes three and out to end the quarter.

Pinson and the Stars open the 2nd with a nice drive, ending with a 3 yard keeper for Pinson to take the 24-0 lead. Cleveland goes deep on their next possession, but Kyle Bryant makes the INT in the endzone for the touchback. Nothing is going right for the Browns today. On the Stars next series, Pinson goes down with an injury. The staff won’t say what happened, but we will find out after the game. The stadium is eeirly silent. The half comes to aan end.

The Stars start with the ball in the 2nd half. After a few punts and an interception, Cleveland finally gets on the board with a 32 yard strike. 24-8 Stars. The quarter ends with the new Stars QB, Harper, taking the Stars into the redzone. At the start of the 4th, the Stars settle for 3, 27-8. We tack on a couple more Tds and the final score is 41-11.

Thankfully, the injury to Pinson is nothing and he will be 100% next week.

Divisional Round: LA(11-6) at Pittsburgh (11-5). This is the Stars sencond trip of the season to Pittsburgh. The first time they left losers after leading with 5 minutes to play. The Steelers are lead by Jamie Lake, arguably the best QB in the league besides Troy Pinson. Jamie won the MVP last season.

Pitt wins the toss and will receive. Lake comes out throwing, connecting for 2 20 yard gains, but the defense tightens up and forces the punt. Pinson matches Lake’s performance and the Stars are able to put up a FG to take the early lead, 3-0. Lake hits for a 35 yard pass, but then the defense tightens up again and forces another punt. Pinson comes right back firing, and this is shaping up to be a QB duel. He gets the Stars in position for another FG, and it is 6-0 Stars. The quarter ends with the Steelers driving again. Lake leads the Steelers down to the 2 yard line, but a beautiful goal line stand for the Stars forces the FG. 6-3 Stars. The Stars get a first down, then have to punt for the first time tonight. The Steelers goes three and out after a big sack by the D. The Stars are able to add a FG before the half ends, and they go into the locker room up 9-3.

LA openes the 2nd half with the ball. A holding call, a sack, and 2 offside penalties bring up 4th and 30, so the Stars punt. Lake keeps throwing deep, and he gets the ball moving, but all of his drives has sputtered out. They punt. A long, time consuming drive take the Stars down to the one yard line. On 3rd down, they give the ball to Torgenson and he dives over the pile for the TD. The 2 point conversion fails and the score is 15-3, Stars. A big sack by Ferdere forces another Pittsburgh punt. Pinson, however throws his first INT of these playoffs and gives the Steelers some hope heading into the final quarter. They are able to add on a FG, to cut the lead to 9. 15-6. The Stars eat up some clock, then punt. 7:30 to play. Lake leads his team downfield and gets the TD, taking 4 minutes off the clock. 15-13 Stars. Now Pinson must answer the challenge and take the Stars downfield, eat up the clock and score some points. 4:25 to play. But, it is not to be. Pittsburgh recovers the surprise onside kick. I don’t think the Stars were ready for it. The defense really has to buckle down now. A Brady Kolozdik sack brings up 4th down, and Bryant bats the pass down, incomplete. We add a last second TD and win 22-14. The Stars knock off the Steelers in Pittsburgh!

Conference Championship. LA (12-6) at Austin (14-3). The young expansion team, the Austin Rattlesnakes want to start their dynasty by putting an end to the LA dynasty. The Snakes have a decent offense, and a tough defense that forces turnovers. They will have thier hands full with Pinson and co.

LA wins the toss and will receive. As seems to be the norm for us, we go three and out. Why don’t we defer when we win the toss? Austin makes a big statement by driving into the Stars redzone. However, they fumble and LA recovers, saving themselves points. We get whistled for unnecessary roughness, and we are forced to punt. The Snakes drive right back down field, adnt his time get the TD. 7-0 Snakes. Pinson tried to hard and throws a bad pass that is taken back for a TD. Suddenly its 14-0 Snakes, and the stadium is absolutly rocking. We have to punt once again to open up the second quarter. At least we moved the ball a little bit that time. We can’t stop their offense and they put up 3 more points to make it 17-0. We are able to get on the board with a FG to end the half, but its 17-3 Snakes.

The 2nd half open with Austin taking the kickoff. On their first play, they fumble again, this time we pick it up and get all the way down to the 1 yard line. Torgenson takes it in on first down, and we have a ballgame again. 17-10, Snakes. A holding call stops their drive cold and they punt. Pinson leads us into FG range, but Richey misses the 47 yarder. Still 17-10 Snakes. After a few punts, we face 4th and 5 from their 40 as the 3rd quarter runs out.

As the 4th starts, the Stars are lined up to go for it on 4th and 5. Pinson finds Walker for 10 yards and we are back in business. Richey hits this FG and we cut the lead to 4, 17-13. We hold the Snakes to only 1 frst down before they have to punt. We exchange punts and there is 5 minutes left when we return their punt inside their 40 yard line. But on first down, Torgenson fumbles and they recover. A costly turnover. It might cost us the game and a 4th straight trip tot he Superbowl. We hold them to a FG, but they run the clock down to 1:45. Can Pinson lead this team back? Its 20-13 Snakes. Pinson throws 4 incomplete passes, and it is an anticlimatic end to the Stars season. The fans tear down the goalposts as the Austin Rattlesnakes knock out the Stars and make their first ever trip to the Superbowl. They will face the 15-3 Cowboys for the title.

Dallas shuts out Austin 35-0 in the Superbowl to claim their 1st Superbowl since the early 90’s.

Troy Pinson wins his 5th MVP award, but is only the 2nd team QB, huh. Also on the 2nd team are WR Robert Colby and FB Jeff Sanders. Nobody was selected tot he first team.

After much speculation, the Stars decide to bring back Coach Olin. They are thinking of moving ina younger direction, but will give him 3 more years. They do hire a new scout though. The new Stars scout is Irving Fisher. Scout Blackwood has retired.

The Stars lost $32 million this year. We really need to get that new stadium approved. 98.9% of our tickets were sold, 4th best in the league. Ticket prices will remain the same this year. Longtime tackle Jon Jansen has retured after 17 profession football years. Good luck to Mr. Jensen in his post-football endeavors.

2016 Offseason.

Arnold Hammonds contract has expired and he will not be resigned. We will go after a top RB in Free Agency, or via a trade if necessary.

Trade: We use our once a decade trade rule to trade with the Vikings. We send RB Bob Torgenson, and WR Stan Powell to the Vikings for RB Anthony Candelaria. He is a 2nd year pro with great abilities. We do lose a great WR, but we will target that in the off-season.

Free Agency:
We sign St. Louis Rams WR Artie Borders. A 6 year pro, who has been on the 1st team twice in his young career. We also resign our kicker, and that will be it.

Draft:
1) DT Malcolm Large. A monster with a fitting name, will be our starter in a few years.
2) T Bernard Muchado. A need here, to fill in for the retired Jensen.
3) C Russell Seau. Don’t need a Center, but this guy could have been a top 10 pick.
4) RB Walter Killian, a great backup RB
5) WR Trent Page. A nice backup WR
6) DE Buddy Crane. A lifetime backup, but adequate.
7) S AJ Cavanuagh. Might make a few interceptions in his career.

We come out of camp, happy as a pig in shit, as they say. 5th round pick Trent Page is the biggest breakout I have ever seen. His currents boomed to 71/100/91/95/98/xx/xx/100. He will be the #1 or #2 starter for his entire career. Everybody looks just fine.

Taking a look at my roster, the first thing I notice is the age of my players. They are very old, and this could be our last year with a legit shot at the title. Here is the starting lineup for 2016, with years of experience.

QB Troy Pinson, 14
RB Anthony Candelaria, 2
FB Jeff Sanders, 13
TE Jeff Walker, 4
WR Robert Colby, 10
WR Artie Borders, 6
C Perry Farrow, 6
G Willie Grim “Reaper”, 5
G Luther Abrams, 11
T Kyle Murphy, 13
T Trevor Riddle, 2

DE Nick Lucido, 15
DE Lewis Federer, 10
DT Edwin Humphries, 7
DT Brady Kolozdik, 13
LB Otis Musgrove, 11
LB Lawrence Stermer, 9
LB Victor Boswell, 9
CB Bruce Aliabadi, 4
CB Grad Maxwell, 5
S Kyle Bryant, 15
S Raymond Bryant, 10

Well, after training camp and finalizing my roster, I notice our old friend Arnold Hammond without a team. I decide to break my house rules and sign him to a 1 year contract. He won’t add much to my team, and he will surely retire after this year, but it is just not right for me to leave the NFL’s all time leading rushing in the FA pool.

2016 Pre-Season:
I am happy to report that we don’t have so much as a hangnail after the preseason. And oh yeah, we went 3-1.

2016 Regular Season:

Week 1: LA (0-0) at Dallas (0-0). A matchup of the past 2 Superbowl champs. We show them who is boss by whipping them in Dallas 41-17. Stats wise, we were not great. Candelaria only runs for 30 in his Stars debut. Pinson threw 2 Tds, but also 3 INTs. Our defense saved the game as both Stan Monaco and Kyle Bryant returned INTs for Touchdowns.

Week 2: LA (1-0) at Arizona (1-0). Candelaria runs for 42, Pinson throws more INTs than Tds and we lose, 23-17. Not much to say, except that it was an uninspiring performance.

Week 3: LA (1-1) at San Diego (2-0). Our 3rd straight road game to open the season, against the surprising Chargers. And they surprise us 41-17. Pinson is a disaster this year. 5 interceptions with only 2 Tds. I am not sure what his problem is right now.

Week 4: Denver (2-1) at LA (1-2). We have our home opener, and we need to turn our performance around against this tough division rival. We win 35-7, Pinson is 2/2 TD/INT. Not great, but we get the big win. Candelaria has his biggest game as a Star, but still only 68 yards.

Week 5: Oakland (2-2) at LA (2-2). Ahhh, the annual Oakland Raider visit to the BioClone Stadium. They swept us last year and Coach Olin has the team in a frenzied state of mind as they rush out of the lockerroom. Candelaria gets a taste of this rivalry and he likes it. He goes for 112 and a TD. Pinson throws 3 Tds with no picks and we win 35-17.

Week 6: KC (1-4) at LA (3-2). We get 4 rushing Tds, even old Arnold Hammond gets one and we roll 42-7 over the lousy Chiefs. Their only score came with 0:00 on the clock, a hail mary pass.

Week 7: LA (4-2) at Austin (3-3). A rematch of last year’s AFC champioship game. We return to the site of our defeat and look to sink them to a losing record. We drub them 31-7, and take some pride in that win after last year’s playoff loss. Pinson was great, throwing for 331 and 3 Tds with no picks. We had 2 100 yard receivers, Borders and TE Jeff Walker.

Week 8: LA (5-2) at Denver (4-3). Our annual trip to Denver, and the division lead always seems to be on the line. We double them up 42-21 to remain even with the surprising Chargers who are also at 6-2. Pinson is on a hot streak. He throws 5 TD, to 5 different receivers in the win.

Mid-Season Stat Report:

QB Pinson. 146/235 (62.1%) 2,144 yards, 19 Tds and 14 INTs, rating of 93.9
RB Anthony Candelaria. 103/426 yards 3 Tds.
WR Robert Colby. 39/589 yards, 6tds
WR Trent Page. 31/509 yards, 3 Tds
WR Artie Borders. 29/489 yards, 4tds
TE Jeff Walker. 27/372 yards, 4 Tds

That is a diverse passing attack!

DT Edwin Humpries is 2nd in the league with 9.5 sacks.
DE Lewis Ferderer has 6.5
S Kyle Bryant has 4 picks, tied for 4th in the league.

Week 9: LA (6-2) at Oakland (4-3). We want to return the favor of the season sweep on them. The Raider crowd is particulary angry this afternoon, and a few fans are ejected from the stadium for throwing broken beer bottles at the Stars bench. We get our revenge on the field by winning 31-24. Candelaria had a huge 163 yard rushing game to lead the way.

Week 10: NY Jets (6-2) at LA (7-2). Some people are saying this is a AFC Championship game preview. I don’t know, but we do want to make a statement aginst a great NY team. Candelaria catches and runs for a TD. He is starting to blend into the offense very nicely. We win 24-12, and leave the Jets wondering about just how good they are.

Week 11: bye

Week 12: San Diego (6-4) at LA (8-2). The Chargers have slipped a little bit as the season has worn on, but they are still a good team. We try to avoid the season sweep, probably for the first time ever aginst them. They play us tough, but we prevail 34-24.

Week 13: Philly (6-5) at LA (9-2). We host another perrenially strong NFC team this week. They show how desparate they are for a win as they scratch and claw their way to a 17-0 win at our house. That leaves a bitter taste in our mouths. Pinson threw 6INTS with no Tds. I didn’t think he was capable of such a poor performance.

Week 14: Seattle (7-5) at LA (9-3). Seattle’s last chance to fight for the division title. We dash their hopes by winning 38-21. Candelaria has another 100+ yard game.

Week 15: LA (10-3) at KC (5-8). The rumors in KC this week are saying that a man known only as “TheRoyalOne” is going to buy this pathetic team at season’s end and he vows to make it a championship squad. The game is secondary to the excitement over this rumor. Our 48-17 win goes almost unnoticed among the excitement of TRO taking over next year. Candelaria goes for 199 and 4 Tds!

Week 16: Pittsburgh (10-4) at LA (11-3). Jamie Lake, Troy’s most bitter rival comes to LA this week in a marquee QB matchup. These guys have battled over the last few years in the playoffs, splitting the 2 games. Troy shows Jamie who is boss this week, throwing for 4 TD, and running another in, while throwing no INTs. Jamie throws 2 Tds and 2 INTs. We also win 49-21.

Week 17: LA (12-3) at Seattle (7-8). Tennessee has clinched the #1 AFC seed with a 14-2 record, but we have the division title and the #2 seed locked up. A 36-19 win sents a little statement out to the Titans.

End of 2016 Season Stats:

QB Troy Pinson. 309/499 (61.9%) for 4,485 (1st) yards. 36 Tds/24 INTs. Rating of 95.1 is #3 in the NFL.

RB Anthony Candelaria. 1,123 yards on 236 carries with 10 Tds.

Our top 3 WR’s:
Robert Colby 78/1,168, 9 Tds
Artie Borders 58/1,043, 10 Tds
Trent Page 62/1,078, 6 Tds

Yes, that 3, 1000 yard receivers. Unbelievable!

TE Jeff Walker 44/624, 4 Tds

LB Otis Musgrove led the team with 95 tackles.
Lewis Ferderer led the NFL with 12 sacks.
S Kyle Bryant was 2nd in the NFL with 10 INTs.

Other notes:
Arnold Hammond is no longer the NFL’s all time leading rusher, he is third. He is still the all time leading rushing TD scorer, with 132, 4 ahead of the next best guy.

Troy Pinson has broken Duante Culpepper’s record for all time passing Tds. He has 322, Daunte retired with 312.

Retired T, Jon Jensen has started more games than any other NFL player ever.

S Kyle Bryant is 2 INTs short of the all time record, but the leader is still playing as if this year.

2016 Playoffs:

Division Round: NY Jets(12-5) at LA (13-3).
LA wins the toss and will receive. 7 passes later and it is a Pinson to Colby TD. 7-0 Stars already. The Jets show that they are not intimidated, and they march right down the field and get thier own TD. 7-7.
Then on the Stars next possession, we march right back down the field on them. Pinson finds Walker for 14 and a TD. 14-7 Stars. Finally, the Jets offense sputters, and they punt to end the first half. They do pin us back at the 5 yard line.

The Stars make a couple of first downs, punt then we have to give the ball up. The Jets drive into our redzone and threaten to tie the game up. Thier QB, Tate, goes for 7, but McElroy intercepts it in the endzone for the touchback. The Stars get going again, but the drive stalls at midfield and we give it back to New York. The Jets go three and out, but the Stars fumble the punt and the Jets recover at our 41 yard line. They have a golden opportunity as the half is winding down. They go for the field goal after the 2 minute warning, but their kicker misses the 49 yarder, short. Pinson throws an INT on 3rd and long, and this time the Jets take advantage and tack on 3 before the halftime gun. We go to the lockerroom with the Stars leading 14-10. Coach Olin tears into the offense, tellin gthem that they should be picking apart this Jets defense.

The second half opens with the Jets taking the ball. They cross midfield, but have to punt. Again we are stuck inside our 20 yard line. The Jets are clearly winning the battle of field position. The Stars go three and out, and the Jets take over, march down field and hit a 35 yard TD pass to take the lead, 17-14. The LA crowd has gone silent and they cannot believe what is happening. The divisional round of the playoffs for the Stars is merely a formality, and the Jets are not playing their role. Again the Stars cannot get the offense going, and after 1 first down, we punt. The Jets take over as the 3rd quarter ends.

As the 4th begins, the Jets face 3rd and 2. Monaco and Musgrove gang tackle the runner for a 3 yard loss, and the Jets have to punt. Pinson has a look in his eyes as he takes the field. Pinson finds his open receiver, and scrambles for a couple 1st downs. Finally the Stars get a 1st and goal from the 2. On the play action pass, Pinson finds Borders for the go-ahead touchdown. 21-17 Stars. The Jets have the pressure on them now, and thier QB succombs to by throwing an INT. Cavanaugh makes the pick and returns it 52 yards for the back-breaking touchdown. 28-17 Stars. 7 minutes to play. The Jets take over, but their QB throws another INT, this time Ellis Lazer takes it back for another TD. 35-17 Stars. The Jets don't give up though...they return the kickoff 97 yards for the TD 35-25 Stars. They try for the onsides kick, but LA recovers. Three plays later, TD and this game is over. Stars 42-25. The final score was 45-25 Stars.

Conference Championship.
LA (14-3) at Tennessee (15-2).
LA wins the toss and will receive. Of course we go three and out. I wouldn’t have it any other way.OUr defense records a sack and forces them to a three and out. Pinson finds Colby streaking down the side line and drops the ball in his hands for a 49 yard pickup. Then on 3rd down, Pinson finds Page in the back corner of the endzone and the Stars lead 7-0 on Tennessee’s home turf. The Titans are a tough team though and they drive across mid-field. They face a 4th and 5 at the 36 and they fake the kick, and convert the first down. The Stars were caught off-guard. They can’t take advantage of the trick play though, and they settle for 3 as the 1st quarter expires. 7-3 Stars.

The Stars start the 2nd like they did the 1st: 3 and out. On the Titans first play, Stermer makes the INT for LA, and we lineup at their 28 yard line. We net -2 yards on three plays and take the easy FG. 10-3 Stars. The Titans can’t seem to get their offense going and they punt after three plays yet again. They add on a FG in an otherwise uneventful 1st half. We head to the locker room up 10-6.

The Titans are on offense to start the 2nd half. They come out with precision on offense and drive way down field, only to have their drive stall with an interception by Boswell. We quickly cross midfiled and get inside their 30 yard line. An unnecessary roughness call on Tennessee helps us out. Pinson then finds Colby for the TD, and we go up 17-6. The crowd is enraged at the refs for calling that penalty and the game is halted to clean up the piles of garbage the Tennessee fans have tossed onto the playing field. The game finally continues and it seems that this incident has fired the Titans up, they move down field with surprising ease, into our redzone, but then McElroy steps up, and makes the big interception for LA to stop their drive. We go three and out and punt and that ends the 3rd quarter. We head to the 4th and final quarter up 11 at their home.

Their offense picks it right back up, but after they get to midfield, they are forced to punt. Right now, more than ever, we need a long time consuming TD drive. It doesn’t happen for us, despite a first down gain of 20 yards. Add to that a good return by Tennessee and they are not out of the game yet. The Titans answer the call and get a TD on their next drive. They miss the 2 point conversion so the score is 17-12 Stars with 6:27 to play. The Stars convert 2 3rd and longs, but then fail on their third try and have to punt. We did runs down the clock to the 2 minute warning though. The Titans begin at their 18 yard line. They throw an incompletion, and then we sack them for a loss of 5 to set up 3rd and 15. They get a key pass play for exactly 15 yards. The chains come out and the refs says “FIRST DOWN!” The crowd is going wild, the noise level is unbelievable. On sencond down, Lofton hits Young for 35 big yards, down to our 35 yard line with :41 left on the clock. They have one timeout.

After a flase start and 3 incompletions the game is on the line with 4th and 15. Amazingly enough, Lofton goes deep and Young pulls in the catch, 37 yards later, down to our 5 yard line. They call their final timeout with 15 second left. Our defense is sweating blood and on the verge of collapse. The fans are hanging over the rails ready to storm the field and carry the goalposts away. Coach Olin is barking out commands to the defense as the Titans take the field. On first down, Lofton’s pass is batted down at the line of scrimmage. 7 seconds left. Credit backup DT Crane for the block. On 2nd down, Lofotn takes the snap drops back three step, lofts the ball in the air.......the ball is tipped by Kyle Bryant, the clock hits zero, and lying on the ground is their WR Miller, the ball is dropping to the ground, Miller streches his hands and makes the catch! The Titans win 18-17. The LA Stars are shocked. They refuse to leave the field, just lying there, making it look like a battlefield, which is was. The fans can’t beleive what they just saw, all 75,000 of them are on the field and they are ripping down the goalposts and carrying them to the parking lot. The Titans are in the Superbowl against the Chicago Bears, and the Stars have lost 2 straight AFC championship games on the road.

The Titans can’t carry their momentum over into the Superbowl and the Bears win 20-14.

Ronald Keegan tops of the season with his first MVP award, in his 14th season. He threw 34 Tds with only 5 INTs on the year.

Stars 1st teamers:
DT Edwin Humpries

2nd team:
WR Robert Colby
T Kyle Murphy

2017 Off-Season:

We have 4 retirements this year:
K Richey Wade (not a surprise)
FB Jeff Sanders ( a pretty big surprise)
DT Brady Kolozdik (expected)
LB Nathan Lavery (somewhat of a surprise)

We will miss these 4 STARTERS. Good luck to them in the future.

Our coach and scout will be brought back for 2017. Our ticket prices will remain the same.

We lost $29,000,000 last year, slightly better than the previous year. Our attendance was at 100%, best in the league.

The Stars have submitted a plan to the city of LA for a new stadium!

But, after a long year of fighting the NFL, the NFL in its infinite wisdom has awarded two expansion franchises this year. The Stars fough bitterly with the commissioner, but the commissioner got his way. One of the cities awarded an expansion team will be Ventura, CA, a mere 57 miles from LA.

The other expansion team will be in Houston.

The Houston team will be called the Texans. The Ventura team will be called the Beachcombers.

The expansion draft is over, and the following Stars players have new homes:
G Trevor Cote, Houston
C Larry Rainville, Ventura

Free Agency:
We sign the following players in Free Agency:
P Duane Meadows
K Bryant Moreno
LB Marlon Ramirez. Marlon was a HUGE score. He is a maxed out linebacker that we paid some serious cash for, but we had the cash, and out LB squad is aging rapidly.

Draft:
1) DT Austin Quinones, the BPA in a VERY weak draft
2) G Geoff Scott, 100 potential in pass blocking, but little else
3) RB Jesse Kerr, a good backup, interesting bars, that may bust or breakoutm but worth a chance
4) WR Tyrel Rayburn, a return specialist
5) LB Chris Witman, a career backup, but pretty decent
6) CB Warren Lerner, another return specialist
7) LB Shaun Periso, he will be buried in the depth charts

We accept a computer offered trade for our starting center Perry Farrow. We receive a 3rd round pick. Out backup Russell Seau is younger and will be just as good after this training camp, plus we save 4+ million in cap space.

Our stadium proposal failed 51-49%. A major disappointment, but we will try agin next year. We have no intentions of leaving LA.

We come out of training camp and review the roster. Everybody looks fine, and we are ready to get back to the Superbowl!

2017 Pre-Season:
Here is our starting lineup for this year:

QB Troy Pinson
RB Anthony Candelaria
FB Gilbert Cook
TE Jeff Walker
WR Artie Borders
WR Robert Colby
C Russell Seau
G Luther Abrams
G Willie Grim
T Kyle Murphy
T Trevor Riddle

DE Nick Lucido
DE Lewis Federer
DT (rookie) Austin Quinones
DT Edwin Humphries
LB Marlon Ramirez
LB Lawrence Stermer
LB Otis Musgrove
CB Bruce Aliabadi
CB Grady Maxwell
S Kyle Bryant
S Raymond Bryant

The Stars go 2-2 in the preseaon, and again, not a single injury to report.

2017 Regular Season:

Week 1: San Diego (0-0) at LA (0-0). We open the seasonwith a commanding 34-0 win. Everybody played good for their first start.

Week 2: LA(1-0) at Oakland (1-0). We travel to Oakland early this year, and the Raider fans have signs reminding us of last years playoff loss. They are trying to get into the minds of the Stars players. Apparently, it worked, because we lost 30-23.

Week 3: KC (1-1) at LA (1-1). The newly owner Chiefs, recently purchased by TheRoyalOne come into town with a brand new attitude. Unfortunatly for them, their annual visit to LA ends the same as always, with a 40-7 beating. Candelaria had 2 rushing Tds. Pinson threw for 2, with no picks.

Week 4: New York Jets (2-0) at LA (2-1). The Jets are looking to get back at LA for bouncing them out of the playoffs, 45-25 last year. Same stadium, worst result. The Stars win 38-0. Pinson with 4 passing Tds and a rushing TD, with no INTs. Classic Troy Pinson.

Week 5: bye

Week 6: Tampa Bay (1-3) at LA (3-1). Once powerful Tampa Bay limps into town at 1-3. They leave 1-4 after a 51-23 drubbing. Candelaria runs for 3 and Pinson throws for 3 Tds, no picks.

Week 7: LA (4-1) at Seattle (3-3). We sneak this one out on the road 17-10. Pinson throws for 2 Tds, and still doesn’t throw a pick. Other than that, it was a average performance for the Stars.

Week 8: LA (5-1) at KC (2-5). I meet TRO for a cocktail before the game, and promise not to be too harsh on his team today. TRO’s team puts up a great fight, and we finally pull it out, 10 minutes into OT, 23-17. Pinson is great, 2 Tds and no INTs.

Week 9: LA (6-1) at Austin (4-3). The team hates traveling all the way out to the East coast, and it showed in their poor performance. We lose 10-6. Pinson threw for 387 yards, but couldn’t get it into the endzone.

MidSeason Stats:

QB Troy Pinson. 170/255 (66.6%) 2,521 yards, 17 Tds/1 INT, QB rating of 119.3. What can you say?
RB Anthony Candelaria. 116/307 yards, but 7 Tds.
WR Artie Borders. 42/656 yards, 6 Tds.
WR Robert Colby. 37/561 yards, 2 Tds.
TE Jeff Walker. 31/550 yards, 2 Tds.
DE Lewis Federer tied for NFL lead with 9.5 sacks
The Bryant brothers and Bruce Aliabadi all have 3 INTs.

Week 10: Oakland (5-3) at LA (6-2). Oakland comes to town, and I make a rare lockerroom appearance before the game. I tell the guys there is no way Oakland will beat us 2 years in a row in our house. Then I leave. My boys respond with a 31-21 win against the hated Raiders. Candelaria rushed for a TD. Pinson threw for over 350 yards and 3 Tds. Artie Borders caught 2 more TD passes.

Week 11: Chicago (7-2) at LA (7-2). The top team from each conference beattle it out in LA this weekend. The Bears are the defending champs, and we want to make a statement if they get to the Superbowl against us this year. In a 38-31 shootout, we prevail. Pinson threw for 332 and 4 Tds. Candelaria and Borders each scored a TD as well.

Week 12: LA (8-2) at San Diego (3-7). These road games scare Coach Olin. The ones against a far inferior opponent. He does his best motivation job before these games, to keep the team focused. We squeak it out 20-17, and that is all Coach Olin asked for. It took a last minute TD by our backup QB (the one from Stanford) to get the job done. Pinson is fine, but had to be taken out after a ferocious hit by their defense.

Week 13: Seattle (4-7) at LA (9-2). An easy home game, and we win 37-7. Candelaria and Borders both score again. Pinson is his usual self after last weeks bone crushing hit. He throws for over 300 yards, 2 Tds and no INTs.

Week 14: LA (10-2) at Denver (7-5). This should be a tough road test ofr us. Denver is covered in snow this weekend, and we are a passing team, not a good mix, so we will have to show all facets of our offense to prevail. We make it look pretty easy by rolling over the Broncos 34-8. Pinson not only throws for 2 Tds, he also runs for a pair. He is our wntire team, that is obvious.

Week 15: LA (11-2) at Tennessee (12-1). Well, this game is one of the biggest regular season games in the history of the NFL. Its a rematch of last years AFC title game, which was an absolute heartbreaker for the Stars. The winner will probably get homefield throughout the playoffs and the loser will probably have to travel to the others stadium in the playoffs. Frankly, there could be nothing worst for the Stars than having to go to Tennessee again later this year, so we need to take care of business now.

We just can’t seem to get it done at Adelphia Stadium. We lose 32-24. Pinson was brilliant, but the Titans totally shut down our running game.

Week 16: LA (11-3) at Green Bay (7-7). How do we respond, on the road, after a tough loss, against a team fighting for the playoffs? Lets just say, we didn’t respond. We lose in a no defense game, 45-39, in OT. Again, Pinson is brilliant. He throws for 456 yards, 3 Tds and no INTs. Our running game is a mess right now. I don’t know if it is our O-line or our backs. Candelaria has great ratings, but he is just not getting it done.

Week 17: Denver (8-7) at LA (11-4). We are guaranteed the #2 seed again this year, but Denver could make the playoffs with a win, and we would love to knock them off, not to mention gain some momentum for the playoffs. Pinson can break several single season records in the final week. He is 48 yards short of the single season passing yards record. He is 4 TD passes short of tying the TD passes recod. His current QB rating is 113.9, and the record is 104.9. He will break 2 records, and has a chance at a third.

We win easily, 42-10, and Denver goes home for the winter. Pinson throws for 257 yards, and 5 TD! He has broken all three major QB single season records!!!!!!! In his 15th NFL season. Way to go Troy!

Final Season Stats:

QB Troy Pinson. 338/530 (63.7%) for 4,886 yards. 39 touchdowns, with only 2 INTs!!!!!!! QB rating of 116.5. Yardage, Tds and rating are single season records!
He is also the all time leader in TD passes with 361.
He is 1,200 yards shot of Payton Manning’s all-time passing yards record.

RB Anthony Candelaria. 233/672 yards, 10 Tds.

WR Robert Colby. 91/1,376 7tds
WR Artie Borders. 86/1,302 13 Tds (best in NFL)
TE Jeff Walker 58/896, 3 Tds
WR Trent Page 46/759 6tds

LB Marlon Ramirez led the team with 72 tackles
DE Lewis Ferderer was 5th in the NFL with 14 sacks.
The Bryant brothers, and Bruce Aliabadi each had 5 INTs.

2017 Playoffs:

Division Weekend:

Pittsburgh (12-5) at LA (12-4). Jamie Lake leads his Steelers into town to continue a bitter playoff rivalry. Lake was the second best rated passer behiind Troy Pinson, and these two warriors have battled it out numerous times, always with the stake high, and this time is no exception. These two QB’s show no love for each other, and are constantly trying to outdo the other.

LA wins the toss and receives. As expected, we go three and out after winning a toss in the playoffs. Pitt mixes up the pass and run to cross midfield, but then they punt it over to us Again, we go three and out. They only gain 1 first down before punting. The two teams seem to be feeling each other out right now. A holding and an unsportsmanlike conduct call back us way up, and after the punt, the Steelers take over in our territory. They come out aggressive, too aggressive as they fumble and backup DT Large falls on the lose ball to recover for the Stars. Pinson throws 3 incompletions and we punt again to end the 1st quarter.

The second quarter opens and Pitt’s offense struggles, but a face mask penalty against us gives them new life on 3rd down. They drive for a FG and take the 3-0 lead. Yet again we go three and out. The offense seems to have lost its playbook or something. We need to hold it close and have Coach Olin tear things up at halftime. Right before halftime, Pinson finally connects on a couple 20 yards passes and we tie the game at 3.

The second half opens and we kickoff to the Steelers. They are nice enough to go three and out, and now we will see if Coach Olin got this offense to get their shit together. Well, we get into FG range, but our kicker misses the 43 yarder and the score remains 3-3. A holding call backs up Pitt and they go three and out. Finally something happenes....the Pittsburgh CB slips and Colby breaks wide open downfield. Pinson sees him and lets it fly. A 79 yard TD pass! Stars lead 10-3! Pittsburgh goes 3 and out on their next possession, and we could add to our lead now. A 33 yard run by Candelaria sets up a 34 yard FG, but our kicker misses it wide left. He is earning a spot in the FA pool with his performance. Pissburgh gains a few 1st downs, but then they punt back to us. We punt back to them to end the 3rd quarter.

The 4th stars with our defense doing its job, forcing a punt. Candelaria breaks off a couple big runs, and this time the FG is true and we extend our lead to 13-3. The games continues with both teams continually punting. We add a late TD to go up 20-3, but Lake is never able to lead his team tot he endzone and the game ends with that same score.

Conference Chapionship.

LA (13-4) at Tennesseee (16-1). We reutn to the site of last years loss. The stakes are the same, probably even higher for the Stars. The Titans want to get back to the Superbowl, where the winner will face defending champ Chicago.

LA wins the toss and will receive. Instead of going three and out, we drive down field and put up the game’s first points, a 43 yard FG. Stars 3-0. The Titans get to the 50 yard line, but the defense holds and they punt. We come out aggressive, and with the help of a 45 yard pass to Robert Colby, we score the game’s first TD, and go up 10-0. As the first quarter expires, the Titans have drove into our redzone.

At the start of the 2nd, the Titans face 3rd and 11 from the 14 yard line. They gain 7 yards, and have to settle for 3, 10-3 Stars. The Stars get the ball back and face a 3rd and 9, Pinson forces the ball between two defenders, the receivers gets his hands on it, and tips it, right to the CB. Interception for Tennessee. They can;t move the ball though, and have to punt it back to us. We definitly dodged a bullet. We take the ball and move with ease, until we get into the redzone, where we have to settle for 3. Stars lead 13-3. The half ends with the same score.

Tennessee has the ball to open the 3rd quarter. We both go 3 and out to start it off, then the Titans move the ball and kick a FG to cut the lead, 13-6 LA. The rest of the quarter consists of short drives that end in punts for both teams.

Tennessee opens the 4th facing a 1st and 20 from the 50 yard line. They convert it with a 26 yard run, and then finish the job off by scoring the tying TD. The score is 13-13, with 13:19 left to play. Pinson leads the offense on the field, and immediatly connects with Colby for 20 yards. On the next play, Candelaria breaks off a 61 yard TD run to take back the lead, 20-13. 11:45 to play, but we know that no lead is safe against Tennessee. The Titans begin a 6+ minute drive, converting on a 4th and 5 yard play. They finally get the TD on a 7 yard run by Wells, and the game is tied again, 20-20 with 5:10 to play.

A great return by LA give us the ball at our 42 yard line. 3 incompletions later, and we are punting again, with 4:15 to play. On the Titans first play, they pick up 22, but then lose 2 on their next three plays and punt. We get the ball at the 16 with 2:26 to play, and only needing a FG. Candelaria’s 17 yard first down run brings up the 2 minute warning. We cannot advance any farther, and regulation ends with the score tied at 20.

OVERTIME:

LA gets the ball to start the overtime. An 11 yard run by backup RB Kerr, plus a 18 yard pass by Pinson, to Colby set us up at their 39 yard line. Coach Olin has lost confidence in our kicker, so he wants to get closer, much closer before he sends him out. We only gain 1 yard on the next three play, so Coach Olin has no choice but to send out Moreno to attempt the 55 yard game ending FG. The snap is clean, the kick is up, it is on line, but looks short......it hits the cross bar, and fall though!!!!!!! Its good, its GOOD!!!! The Stars win and they are going to the Superbowl!!!

2017 Superbowl:

LA (14-4) at Chicago (15-3). The Superbowl comes to you from Houston Texas this year, site of the new expansion franchise and the multi-billion dollar stadium. Coach Olin reflects on the years as he makes his way onto the field. So many titles in the past, could this be the last shot that this dynasty has at a title? Pinson is getting old, Coach is getting old, and together they will ride of into the sunset, if not this year, very soon. Chicago is a 4.5 point favorite, but LA is determined to bring back 1 more title.

The usual festivities surround the Superbowl, but for once, this LA team does not partake in any of them. They are here on a business trip, and intend to leave the 7 time World Champions. FishFan is here, and he has brought along 25 the 25 year old daughter of Hal Sutton. Rumor has it that they are a hot item these days. Man, does that guy get the best chicks or what?

On to the game:

LA wins the toss and will receive. Troy Pinson comes out doing what he does best, throw the ball. We only run twice on that whole series, but stumble on 3rd and 10, gaining only 8 yards. We have to settle for the FG, but take the early 3-0 lead. Chicago comes back with a nice drive of their own. They really dcontrol the line of scrimmage, they mix up the pass and run to keep the defense off guard. They eat up a ton of time and score the go ahead TD. 7-3 Bears, only 1:18 left in the first, and we both only had 1 possession. The quarter ends as we drive out to our own 41 yard line.

As the 2nd quarter begins, the Stars are focus on regaining the lead. We move into Bears territory and convert a big 3rd and 1...the drive continues. A holding call sets us way back and we face 4th and 8 from the 30. The unreliable Moreno comes in for the FG and misses the 47 yarder. Still 7-3 Bears. The Bears are blowing us right off of the line of scrimmage and they get a 1st and goal. Our defense is tired as hell, but they are able to suck it up and stuff them 3 times. Their kicker comes out and tacks on 3 points. 10-3 Bears. A great kick return gets us close to midfield, but we can;t gain a single yard on 3 downs, and punt. The Bears fumble the punt and after the refs get to the bottom of the pile, the Bears keep possession. Very lucky recovery on their part. Our defense digs in and starts regaining control of the line. They go 3 and out, and punt to us. The half ends with no more scoring. 10-3 Bears.

The second half opens and the Bears start with the ball. They are trying to win their 2nd straight Superbowl, and would like to put the pressure on us by scoring early. Our defense will have none of that, and forces them to punt after a net of 8 yards. We can’t convert on a 3rd and 2 after a nice 22 yard completion, so we punt, and pin them inside their 20 yard line. Again we hold them to 8 yards before they punt. Their punter is booming the ball today, and we start at our 33. On first down, Pinson finds Borders for a big 35 yard gain, and we are in business. We don’t gain anymore yards, and again we send Moreno to try the FG. He misses the 49 yarder wide left. Moreno has missed 4 FG’s in the post season, including 2 in the Superbowl. He is out of a job, guaranteed. A big 24 yard pass play puts the Bears in our territory, but a fumble, recovered by LA, could swing the momentum our way. Unfortunatly, we give it right back to them with an interception. Our defense has been great since giving up the 10 points, and we force them to punt yet again. A long 3rd quarter comes to an end with us punting again.

The 4th quarter begins with Chicago up 10-3, and they have the ball. A 28 yard pass play, sparks their offense and they get it in the endzone. 14-3 Bears and things look grim for the Stars. A quick strike 45 yard play to Colby, followed up by a 20 yard TD pass from Pinson to Colby gives the Stars news life! It is 17-10 Bears, but the Stars are showing signs of life. Our defesne gets their second wind and stops them cold and forces the punt. The Stars take over and Troy Pinson has an icy look of confidence in his eyes. Another 45 yard pass play by Pinson, this time to Page gets us in the redzone! We can;t get intot eh endzone, so we send Moreno out for the 33 yard FG, surely he will make this one. The snap is clean, the kick is up....its off the right crossbar and NO GOOD! WTF!!!!

Chicago takes over and if we ever needed a defensive stop, it is right now! We hold them to 3 and out, after a bid 3rd down sack, and we get the ball back with 3:21 to play. Coach Olin calls a TO and gathers the troops. He tells them that this is what they have worked for all year...a chance to be the best in the world. He tells them not to let last week’s win in Tennessee go for nothing. He grabs Pinson’s head, stares him in the eyes, and says, “Win this motherfuck!”

Pinson works his magic and crosses midfield at the 2 minute warning. He then leads the Stars into the redzone. The Stars face a 3rd and 2 at the 17 yard line with 1:26 left on the clock. Pinson drops back and throws to WR Borders, but the pass is slightly underthrown and Borders cannot come up with it. It is 4th and 2 now. Pinson drops back, everybody is covered..he pump fakes and tucks the ball in and takes off for a 5 yard gain. FIRST DOWN! 61 seconds left in the game. An incompletion and an offsides call give us 2nd and 5. Pinson scrambles out of the pocket and picks up 3 yards. We again face 3rd and 2, from the 4 yard line, 42 seconds to play. Pinson takes the snap and drops back....everybody is covered...he looks to his 4th option, little used WR Brady Jaster...he can’t believe how wide open he is...he fires the ball and Jaster makes the catch. Touchdown Stars! 17-17. We are going to overtime.

OT

Chicago gets first possession. The defense lets the Bears throw at will and they cross midfield and get into FG range. The defense responds and gets a sack and forces a 4th down play. The Bears bring out their FG unit, and line up for the 53 yarder. The kick is up....its straight, it has the distance....it is good!!! Bears win! The Stars have been defeated.

The game came down to FG kicking, and our kicker missed three of them. That is the story of the game. Moreno has been ostracized from the team, and will never put on a Stars uniform again.

End of Season Awards:

Without a doubt, Troy Pinson won the MVP award. He was also 1st team QB and offensive player of the year.

WR Robert Colby, in a losing effort, was named the Superbowl MVP.

Stars 1st teamers:
QB Troy Pinson
TE Jeff Walker
WR Artie Borders

2nd team:
WR Robert Colby

2018 Off-Season:

The Stars have 2 players that retire at the end of the season. They are both lifetime starters and will be very difficult to replace:

DE Nick Lucido
S Kyle Bryant. Kyle was the first ever draft pick of the LA Stars, and personified this team.

Our coach and scout will remain with the team this year.
The Stars franchise lost $77 million dollars this year. We must get the new stadium through a vote this year.
Attendance slipped to 99.7%, 3rd best in the league.

Free Agency:

We go after a Safety to replace Kyle Bryant, and a new kicker, and we also try to resign a few of our guys.
The kicker signs right away, so it is goodbye Mr. Moreno, hello Mr. McIntyre.

Well, we do not get the Safety, but we do get a great LB, which strengthens a growing weakness on our team. Welcome, Phillip Crump. That concludes our free agency period.

Draft:
1) DE Louis Walker. Not the BPA by any means, but we need to replace Nick Lucido somehow
2) S Tito Cassidy. Again, not the BPS, but we need to fill in for retirements.
3) FB Joey Richard. We are now going to pick the BPA in the areas where we have holes to fill.
4) RB Joey Traylor
5) TE Graham Duncan
6) QB Aaron MacGregor
7) QB Johnny Gardner

Our stadium proposal passed in a landslide vote -60-40%

We come out of training camp and review the roster. Everybody came out of camp OK, except for our first round draftee, the DE. His ratings went down significantly. We need him to reach his potentials just to be usable. I am hoping he will improve after a second camp.

2018 Pre-Season:

Here is the lineup we will be going with, an * represents new to the starting lineup this year.

QB Troy Pinson
RB Jesse Kerr * (Candelaria is still good, but this guys rating have gone up very nicely, he was a 3rd round pick last year, and now looks great)
FB Gilbert Cook
TE Jeff Walker
WR Artie Borders
WR Robert Colby
C Russell Seau
G Willie Grim “Reaper”
G Luther Abrams
T Bernard Muchado
T Kyle Murphy

DE Lewis Ferderer
DE Buddy Crane (replaces the retired Nick Lucido)
DT Edwin Humphries
DT Malcolm Large (replaces last year’s rookies, A. Quinones. Large took an extra year to develope, but he is “Large” now)
LB Marlon Ramirez
LB Otis Musgrove
LB Phillip Crump (replaces Arnold Lane, who is now first off the bench)
CB Grady Maxwell
CB Bruce Aliabadi
S Ray Bryant
S Bruce McElroy (Kyle Bryant he is not, that is for sure!)

NOTE: Looking over my GM performance, we have been in the AFC Conference Championship every year since 2006. We only lost it in the following years: 2011, 2015, 2016.

We go 2-2 in the preseason. We have a couple very mminor injuries, but everybody is listed as probable.

2018 Regular Season:

Week 1: LA (0-0) at Oakland (0-0). The Season gets off to a big start as we travel to Oakland and face our most hated rivals. Oakland scores first, but we put up 30 unanswered points and take the 30-7 win. Pinson threw for over 400 yards with 2tds, and a INT. Rookie Jimmie Traylor led the team in rushing yards and scores a TD in his very first NFL game. Dt Large gets a sack in his very first NFL start.

Week 2: San Diego (1-0) at LA (1-0). Our second divisional game to open the season. It is important to get off to a good start. A 43-7 win qualifies as a good start. Another 400+ yard game for Pinson, with 3 Tds and no picks.

Week 3: LA (2-0) at KC (1-1). I meet with my good friend TRO, and he tells me his team will be a force to be reckon with, within 3 years. I wish him the best of luck, but insist our boys will show him no mercy on the field. And we don’t. The Stars win 44-24. 331 yards and 5 Tds for the man, Troy Pinson.

Week 4: LA (3-0) at Buffalo (1-1). Buffalo is well rested after their bye week, and ready to knock us of the list of undefeated teams. We prevail however, 27-17, and the Stars train keeps on rolling. Ray Bryant had 2 big INTs, and Troy threw for 3 more Tds.

Week 5: bye

Week 6: LA (4-0) at San Fran (0-4). Coach Olin repeats his warning when we go on the road against a bad team. KEEP YOUR FOCUS, OR YOU WILL LOSE. Those words were unheaded, until the final minutes when we sneaked out a 25-22 win. Put up 3 more Tds for Troy.

Week 7: Seattle (4-2) at LA (5-0). Seattle would have many division crowns if it was not for LA. They want to beat us so badly, that they hold 2 a days during the week to prepare. The practice may have tired them out. We win 37-11. 2 rushing Tds for Candelaria lead the way.

Week 8: KC (2-5) at LA (6-0). royal’s team is struggling, so I invite him up to my owners box to watch how a real football team plays. We win 38-6 and hopefully, TRO can learn a little something from that display. I know his team will be competative soon. Artie Broders had 3 TD catches. Pinson threw for 4.

Week 9: Austin (4-3) at LA (7-0). We try to complete a perfect first half of the season. We need OT to do it, but we get the 16-10 win and stand at 8-0 at the halfway point.

Mid-Season Stats:

QB Troy Pinson. 175/277 (63.1%) 2,693 yards 23 Tds and 8 INTs, QB rating of 110.8 (best in NFL)
RB Jesse Kerr. 105/449 4tds
WR Trent Page. 43/763 5 Tds
WR Artie Borders. 42/604 8tds
WR Robert Colby 28/504 6 TDS
DE Lewis Ferderer 8 sacks
S Ray Bryant 4 INTs

Week 10: LA (8-0) at San Diego (3-5). An uninspired performance, but still a 24-13 win. An INT returned for a TD sparked us to the win.

Week 11: LA (9-0) at Albany (5-4). A good road test for us. Every team is bringing its best game to the field when they play us now. We pass this test 42-26. A 109 kickoff return and 3 rushing Tds led us to victory.

Week 12: Oakland (4-6) at LA (10-0). Throw the records out for this bitter rivalry. Oakland would love to be the one to knock us off. They do it to us 17-14. A very disappointing loss. Nothing else to say.

NOTE: Pittsburgh and their QB Jamie Lake are at 9-1-1, the Stars at 10-1.
Troy Pinson and Jamie Lake are #1 and #2 in the QB ratings....they are both over 15 points ahead of the next best QB

Week 13: LA (10-1) at Seattle (4-7). Seattle has been in a free fall since we last played them. They have lost every single game, going from 4-2, to 4-7. There streak continues with a 48-3 beating. 4th Wide Receiver Brady Jaster caught 3 of Troy’s 4 TD passes. The bad news is we put our first player on the IR since 2016. At our weakest position, DE, our best player, Lewis Ferderer goes down for the season.

Week 14: Denver (9-3) at LA (11-1). Our biggest game of the year so far. Denver has a small chance at winning the division, but they HAVE to win here today, or else we lock it up. A 34-14 Stars win gives us the division title. Trent Page catches 2 TD passes in the first quarter, and the Stars never looked back.

Week 15: Tennessee (6-6-1) at LA (12-1). The once mighty Titans are struggling to even make the playoffs this year, but after the last two years, this has become a bitter rivalry...throw the records out for this one. The Titans avenge last year’s OT loss at their stadium in the AFC championship game and hand us our second loss 27-24. Their RB, Wells ran for 132 yards on our banged up Defensive line, and that was the difference.

Week 16: New Orleans (7-7) at LA (12-2). A win here would lock up the #1 seed for us. A 49-20 thrashing of the Saints does it. We are the #1 team in the AFC this year and the road to the Superbowl goes through LA. We had 4 different backs run for Tds this week.

Week 17: LA (13-2) at Denver (9-6). Troy Pinson can break a couple of his single season records which he set last year in week 17. He has already broken the single season TD pass record. He currently has 42. He should break the yardage record as well, in fact, if he has a 400 yard game he will surpass 5000 yards on the season. A 6-3 win knocks Denver out of the playoffs, and that is reward enough. Pinson falls short of the yardage record, only throwing for 200.

Final Season Stats:

QB Troy Pinson. 316/507 (62.3%) 4,730 yards. 42 Tds, 13 INTs. Rating of 109.7 (best in NFL, by 15 points)

RB Jesse Kerr. 210/818, 7 Tds.

WR Trent Page 72/1,181 8 Tds
WR Artie Borders 76/1,136 14 Tds
WR Robert Colby 73/1,064 11 Tds
TE Jeff Walker 53/743 4Tds

LB Marlon Ramirez led the team with 85 tackles.
DE Lewis Federere had 10.5 sacks
DE Buddy Crane (first year starter) had 9 sacks.
S Ray Bryant led the team with 5 INTs.

2018 Playoffs. All signs lead to The Stars and Bear in a rematch in the Superbowl. The Bears are the 2 time defending Champs.

2018 Divisional Playoffs.

Buffalo (10-7) at LA (14-2). Buffalo wins the toss and will receive. An early sack by Quinones forces a Buffalo 3 and out. RB Jesse Kerr picks up a quick 40 yards and we put up the first 3 points of the game. 3-0 Stars. Buffalo converts 2 thrid down plays for big yardage and work their way into FG range, but then Ken Meadows picks off a pass to end their drive. A third down sack by Buffalo forces us to punt, but we pin them at the 7 yard line. The defense is talking safety right now. No safety, but a 3 and out gives us the ball at midfield. The drive is short and sweet....3 pass to Robert Colby results in a TD. 10-0 Stars.

The second quarter begins and Buffalo takes the kickoff. We trade possession for most of this quarter, until Buffalo gets into FG range and puts up their first points with 5 minutes to play in the half. 10-3 Stars. They add another FG to close the half and Buffalo is hanging in their at 10-6.

The second half begins and the Stars start with the ball. Pinson finally gets the passing game going and we drive down the field for a Pinson to Page 8 yard TD. 17-6 Stars. The rest of the quarter is a defensive struggle. The quarter ends with the Stars moving in for more points.

To open the 4th quarter, Pinson hits Colby for 2 passes and gets the TD, which should seal the Bills fate. 24-6 Stars. In fact, that is the last score of the game. We didn’t play to well, but still, we return to the AFC title game for the 13th straight year.

Artie Borders sprained his neck and will miss the rest of the season...OUCH!

2018 AFC Championship: Baltimore (13-4) at LA (15-2).

Baltimore wins the toss and will receive. On the first play from scrimmage Ken Meadows intercepts the pass, and LA takes over at the 25 yard line. After 3 running plays (WTF?) we settle for 3 and let a golden opportunity slip away. 3-0 Stars. A 47 yard pass play puts the Ravens in FG range and they tie the game up 3-3. Pinson spreads the ball to 4 different wide receivers in a textbook drive, which is capped off by 10 yard TD pass to TE Jeff Walker. Stars 10-3. A rash of penalties kills the Ravens drive after they cross midfield, and they are forces to punt. A couple quick passes by Pinson get us out to the 43 yard line and the first quarter expires.

Our drive continues into the 2nd quarter, but on 3rd and two, we can’t gain a single yard, and we punt. A bunch of penalties, and even more punts is the story for the rest of the 2nd quarter. We head to the locker room, and the Stars are up 10-3.

It has been put up on the scoreboard that the Chicago/Philly game has ended in double OT. The Eagles pulled off the stunning upset, in Chicago, 30-24. The Eagles will be in the Superbowl.

The 3rd Q starts and the Stars take the kickoff. On first down, Pinson sees a wide open Robert Colby streaking down the sideline...he fires the ball, but out of nowhere CB Junker picks off the pass and takes it the distance. TD Baltimore and suddenly the gameis tied at 10. We trade punts, and then LA decides to work on its ground game...and it works good as Kerr gets runs for 45 yards and 10 yards, the latter for a TD. 17-10 Stars. Baltimore’s first play is an INT by Musgrove, and LA is again set up with a golden opportunity at the 24 yard line with a chance to turn the light off on Baltimore’s season. A 20 yard run by Kerr, and then a reverse, handed off to WR Page goes in for the TD. 24-10 Stars, and the stadium is rocking and rolling. A 2nd down interception by Bruce McElroy, the man who took over for superstar Kyle Bryant, gives the Stars another first down at the Raven’s 23 yard line! The Stars again cannot get into the endzone after being handed that kind of field position. We take the FG though and it is now 27-10.

The 4th quarter begins and the Ravens seem to have little hope...their players sense it, and their performance shows how they feel. We trade punts, and Baltimore finally shows signs of life in the second half. A 57 yard TD reception gives them some hope. 27-17 Stars. The Baltimore defense is fired up and they come out and muscle the Stars Offense around. They intercept a Pinson pass, and take over possession. Their offense only had that one big play in them though and they go 3 and out. The Stars take over, eat up the clock and put up three more points, which should solidify the win with only 6 minutes to play. 30-17 Stars. But Baltimore strikes back with a TD drive, that only took 2 minutes off the clock. 30-24 Stars, and now the Ravens are within 1 TD of taking the lead. 4 minutes to play. On the kickoff, the ball is fumbled, and there is a big pile around the 20 yard line. After everone is separated, the Stars fan sign in relief as Candelaria comes out of the pile with the ball. Baltimore can’t stop the Stars from gain 1st downs and they burn up all of thier TO’s, and we put up 3 points to make it a 2 possession game with a little over 1 minute left. An interdception by Ray Bryant ends the game and the Stars are in the Superbowl!

2018 Superbowl. Philly (13-6) at LA (16-2). Philly got here solely by its ferocious running game. Their bruising RB, Stanley Watkins gained 1500 yards and scored 19 Tds this season. An amazine running back. The superbowl is in Vegas this year and the line is LA by 3.5. FishFan is here this year, again with Hal Sutton’s daughter. This is the first time he has shown up with the same girl for 2 straight Superbowls since those days of Julia Roberts. I invite my friend, and new rival, TRO to enjoy the game from the comforts of my luxury sweet. I give him a pad and paper to take notes with.

On to the big game!

Philly wins the toss and will receive. Watkins opens the game with a 20 yard run, not a good sign for LA. We then hold them and they face 4th and 1 from the 46. Not respecting our D-line they go for it, but we stop them cold. No gain and the ball is turned over on downs. We show no respect for their secondary and throw the ball all over the field. We get a 1st and goal from the 2, and taking a page from the Eagles playbook, we send Kerr straight up the middle. Result, TD. 7-0 Stars. Again they open with a 19 yard run by Watkins, but they can’t sustain the drive, and they punt. We punt, they punt and the quarter is over.

The second quarter begins and we have a 1st down at their 46 yard line. We get called for 2 penalties and have to punt. That is when Watkins stars tearing up the field, and our defense. He leads the Eagles down to the 10 yard line. Our D is keyed on him, but instead they hand off to seldom used FB, Schneider, and he scores. The extra point is blocked though, and that could come back to haunt them. LA 7-6. A 39 yard pass and a 20 yard run by the Stars sparks another scoring drive, that ends with a 3 yard pass to Brady Jaster. 14-6 Stars. The Eagles abandon their running game and go to the air, where they run a nice 2 minute drill to get into FG range and tighten the game up 14-9 as we head into the halftime.

LA starts with the ball to open the 2nd half. The entire 3rd quarter consists of punting. No drive even threatened to get into scoring position. Very boring 3rd quarter, and I will spare you the gruesome details.

The championship quarter begins with the Stars maintaining a slim 14-9 lead. They have the ball at midfield and are in the midst of their best drive of the half. We get insde the 10, but a holding call sets up 3rd and goal from the 19. No worries says Troy Pinson as he throws a bullet to Colby who hauls it in for the TD. 21-9 Stars, and they could sense victory now. Baltimore is panicing and they abandon the run again, only to go three and out. The Stars take over and add on a FG to make it 24-9 with 7:26 to play. On the next two Baltimore possessions, they continue to try and throw the ball, but get nothing except 2 three and out possessions. On the second one, the punt is blocked, and the Stars promptly take it in for the TD. 31-9 Stars and they are celebrating on the sidelines with 4:09 to play. The Stars tack on 3 more for good measure and carry home the Lombardi trophy! The Stars are back on top of the football world with a 34-9 victory over the Eagles.

Awards:

QB Troy Pinson wins the rare quadruple award: NFL MVP, OPOY, 1st team QB, and Superbowl MVP.

Stars 1st teamers:
QB Troy Pinson
WR Artie Borders
C Russell Seau
G Luther Abrams

2nd team:

2019 OffSeason: The end of an Era.

The inevitable has finally happened. After 16 glorious years in the NFL, Quarterback Troy Pinson has decided to retire. He holds every major QB record that there is. He wears 7 Superbowl rings. He holds 3 Superbowl MVP awards. He has 7 NFL MVP awards. He was elected to the NFL 1st team 6 times. He was elected tot he NFL 2nd team 3 times.

His career stat line looks like this, with Career Records noted with an *.

4369/7119 (61.3%) 56,871(*) 403tds(*) 201 INTs Career rating of 93.2

He holds the following NFL records:

Career Passing yards: 56,871
Career Passing Tds: 403
Season Passing Yards: 4,886
Season Passing Tds: 42
Season QB Rating: 116.5

It will be impossible to replace Troy Pinson. LA will have some dark years ahead of it. We are now officially in a rebuilding phase.

Both our coach and scout will remain with the team. Coach Olin has told me that he wants to retire in a year or two. He has agreed to stay aboard until a suitable replacement is found. We signed him to a 2 year contract, and will be looking again next off-season.

The team lost 39 million dollars last year, an improvement, but when the new stadium is built, we should start turning profits again. Attendance is back up to 100%, best in the league.
Oakland has increased ticket prices, so we do the same, always a dollar less then them.

Free Agency:
We resign our FB, Gilbert Cook. WR Trent Page is angry with his playing time, and will not resign. It was very poor planning on my part to not put the tag on him. He is one helluva WR, and will be impossible to replace. The problem was that he had 2 equally talented stars in front of him, but they are older and I would have gladly traded one of them for Trent. Oh well, that is life as an NFL GM.

Draft:
1) QB Ken Gant. He will step in and start his rookie year. Oh My.
2) CB Chad Coles. A steal in the second round
3) T Kelly Granberry. A decent tackle who will eventually see good PT
4) S Roman Chance. I was going to take in in round 3, so it is a no brainer now.
5) G Joel Gaines. A project for the future.
6) WR Sherman Pieri. Strictly a return specialist
7) RB Will Duckett. Hoping that he will breakout in camp.

We accept a post draft trade with Kansas City. I am always happy to deal with TRO. We send starting tackle Bernard Muchado to the Chiefs for their 1st round pick (and a DE that we will immediatly cut).

After camp we accept the following trade, offered by San Francisco. We send CB Ken Meadows (who was our 3rd CB, but now that we drafted a good one he and his salary are expendable), for T Earnest Settles (we need a new Tackles after our trade with KC).

We also accept this trade from Carolina, in a further effort to begin a youth movement. We send All-Star guard Luther Abrams to Carolina for their 2nd round pick, plus a good DE Mickey Woodson.

We check our roster after camp, and there is only 1 disappointment. 3rd round pick Granberry is a bust, and he is immediatly released to make room for better rookies. We eat the cap space, but what the hell.

2019 Roster:

QB Ken Gant
RB Anthony Candelaria
FB Gilbert Cook
TE Jeff Walker
WR Robert Colby
WR Artie Borders
C Russell Seau
G Willie Grim “Reaper”
G Geoff Scott
T Kyle Murphy
T Ernest Settles

DE Mickey Woodson
DE Lewis Ferderer
DT Edwin Humphries
DT Malcolm Large
LB Otis Musgrove
LB Ramon Martinez
LM Philip Crump
CB Grady Maxwell
CB Bruce Aliabadi
S Ray Bryant
S Bruce McElroy

The Stars went 2-2 in the preseason. For the first time in many years, the outlook on this season is not too good. We are starting a rookie QB, who frankly, is not the future of this team, I don’t think. We also got rid of a few veterans during the off-season, and their replacements are no nearly as good. I would say we would be lucky to make the playoffs. Malcolm Large our starting DT suffered an injury in the preseason and will be out for 2-3 months. Thankfully, that is our deepest position, and Anthony Quinones will step in with no decrease in skills.

2019 Regular Season:

Week 1: Denver (0-0) at LA (0-0). Ken Gant has a great NFL debut. He only threw for 167 yards, but also for 3 Tds and no INTs. Our running game picked up the slack as we had two running Tds and took the 38-23 win.

Week 2: LA (1-0) at Seattle (0-1). Reality sets in as we lose 28-6. The entire offense played poorly and the defense really did not do their part of the job. Gant threw 2 INTs, no Tds.

Week 3: KC (1-1) at LA (1-1). An up and coming KC team looks to win in LA for the first time in what seems like a century. Our team will try to keep TRO from getting that important win. My guys make me proud by winning 27-9. 2 rushing Tds and a passing TD showed that we could play in a more diversivied offense, at least in home games. We have to get some on the road.

Week 4: Miami (1-1) at LA (2-1). Miami is coming off a bye week and is well rested to test our young QB. After trailing 23-3, young Ken Gant leads us back to a 27-23 victory. He is showing amazing maturity for a rookie, but the season is young still. Injuries hurt us bad this week. Our top 2 WR’s Robert Colby and Artie Borders went down. Artie will play in VERY limited duty, while Robert is on the IR.

Week 5: bye

Week 6: Dallas (3-1) at LA (3-1). This game will tell us if we are for real. Dallas comes back from a 20-10 deficit to tie and send the game into OT, but 3rd string RB, Traylor gets the game winning 1 yard TD in OT! LA wins 23-20.

Week 7: LA (4-1) at Oakland (3-3). Oakland has waited all year for this game. They are licking their chops at a chance to go after our young QB. They record 5 sacks and 4 INTs and just humiliate us, 43-0. We are run out of town.

Week 8: LA (4-2) at KC (3-4). TRO’s team is psyched up and ready to beat the defending champs. We have to much pride to just roll over like dogs, and we have something to prove after last week. Alas, our road woes continue and we lose 24-9.

Week 9: LA (4-3) at Austin (5-2). We need to get a road win, and soon. We get the game into OT, but end up losing 30-24. We fall to 4-4 on the season.

Mid Season Stats:

QB Ken Gant. 135/235 (57.4%) 1,670 yards. 7tds/13INTs QB rating of 66.3

RB Anthony Candelaria. 82/407 3TDS
RB Jesse Kerr 67/312 2tds

LB Otis Musgrove 57 tackles
S Ray Bryant 3 INTs

Week 10: Seattle (2-6) at LA (4-4). A perfect opportunity to get back to a winning record. A 30-17 win keeps us perfect at home, and winless on the road. We are going to have to learn to play away from LA, and fast if we want a shot at defending our title in the playoffs.

Week 11: Philly (4-5) at LA (5-4). A rematch of last year’s Superbowl, but neither of these teams look like Superbowl contenders. We squeek out a 27-24 victory, as Ken Gant has his best day as an NFL QB. He throws for 250+ yards, 3 Tds and no INTs.

Week 12: LA (6-4) at Denver (3-7). The man in the orange wig has re-appeared in Denver. The crowd is waving orange towels, but this man is waving a weights and balances puzzle.....strange indeed. The entire city of Denver celebrates their 14-6 victory as they keep us winless away from home.

Weel 13: Oakland (6-5) at LA (6-5). The loser of this game will have a lot of trouble making the playoffs. We look to avenge our 43-0 drubbing in Oakland. We are able to avoid the season sweep by winning this one 21-17, and keeping our playoff hopes alive. We were down 17-0 before Ken Gant led us back to victory. This win alone will make the LA fans like him a little better than before.

Week 14: LA (7-5) at San Diego (5-7). Three of our last four games are on the road. We hold a 1 game lead in our very weak division. We need to start winning on the road if we are going to get this done. Candelaria gains 109 yards, we take the early lead and hold on for the 21-14 win.

Week 15: LA (8-5) at Baltimore (6-7). Another very tough road test. This time we get crushed 45-17. We just have to put it behind us and rebound for next week’s game. We still hold a 1 game lead.

Week 16: LA (8-6) at Arizona (10-4). If we could somehow win this game, our confidence will be sky high. We play them tough on the road, but lose by a TD, 27-20. If there ever was an encouraging loss, this was it. LA and Kansas City are tied for the division lead going into the final week.

Week 17: San Diego (6-9) at LA (9-6). KC lost to Oakland earlier in the day, so they are both at 8-8 to finish the season. If we win, the division is ours...if we lose, there is a 3 way tie for the division.....
We dominate and win 41-6, and defend our division title. A great accomplishment with a rookie QB.

Final Season Stats:

QB Ken Gant. 264/451 (58.5%) 3,212 yards. 19TDs/19INTs QB rating of 77.0
RB Anthony Candelaria. 170/789 4tds
RB Jesse Kerr. 146/651 4tds
WR Robert Colby. 57/845 8tds
WR Brady Jaster. 47/661 3tds

LB Marlon Ramirez led the team with 114 tackles. tied for 5th in the NFL.
DE Lewis Ferderer led the team with 8 sacks
S Ray Bryant led the team with 6 INTS
CB Bruce Aliabadi with 5 INTs
CB Grady Maxwell with 5 INTs

2019 Playoffs:

Wilcard Weekend.

Tennessee (9-7) at LA (9-7). Same teams, different stadium. These two teams had 2 consecutive AFC Championship games that came down to the very last play. This one promises to be just as exciting, although the stakes are not quite as high.

The Titans win the toss and will receive. They pick up a few first downs, and then they face a 3rd and 5. They fake the handoff and throw deep, for a 56 yard TD pass. The Titans take the early lead, 7-0. LA gets a little drive going, but it fizzles out at midfield, and we punt. The Titans convert 4 thrid down tries, the last going into the endzone for a TD as the first quarter expires. 14-0 Titans.

The 2nd quarter begins and we receive the kickoff. We are able to convert on 3 different third down opportunities, and we get our first points of the game on a Gant to Artie Borders TD pass. Titans 14-7. We hold the Titans to a three and out, the first of the game, and take over at the 40 yard line. On our possession, we again convert on 2 thrid down tries, with the help of a Tennessee offsides penalty. Gant finishes off the drive with a TD pass to Colby to tie the game, 14-14. A big 35 yard gain gets the Titans insode our 10 yard line, but our defense hold and forces the FG try, which they make to take a 17-14 lead inot the halftime.

The Stars take the kickoff to start the 2nd half. Gant shows poise in the pocket and leads us into Titan territory. We get t the 33 yard line and send out the FG unit. The kicker converts the 50 yarder and the game is tied at 17. A couple first downs followed by a 51 yard TD pass gives the Titans the lead back. 24-17. We trade punts for the rest of the quarter.

As the final quarter begins, we start out with the ball, deep in our own territory. We start by running the ball a few times, then open up the passing game and work our way down to the 10 yard line. An offsides call sets us up with 1st and goal from the 15 yard line. It takes just 1 play, a Gant to Jaster pass to tie this game up, 24-24. Our defense just can;t stop the Titans though, and they easily move down field and get the go ahead TD on a 9 yard run. 31-24 Titans. We can;t answer their TD drive, and the Titans tack on a FG to secure the win, 34-24.

The Jets beat the Arizona Cardinals for their first ever Superbowl win. RB Brent Makofske wins the quadruple award. NFL MVP, Superbowl MVP, OPOY, and 1st team running back.

Stars on the 1st team:
C Russell Seau

LA Times News Article: February 2020.

The construction of the new football stadium in LA is going according to plan. There was a long list of major sponsers, but the LA Stars have finally come to terms with the #1 movie studio in LA, and they will hold exclusive advertising rights, and naming rights of the stadium.

It is very well known in LA, that former Acadamy ward winning Actress, Julia Roberts is a big Stars fan. Her movie Studio, Roberts Studios has had the top 5 grossing movies each summer for the past 5 years. She has taken out most of the competition in LA and if you are going to have a movie made these day, Ms. Roberts controls your destiny. Roberts Studions has annouced plans to name the LA Stars new stadium simply, "Roberts Stadium"

The field will have a special name of its own "Olin Field." named after Coach Lawrence Olin who guided these Stars to 7 Superbowl victories in the '00's and the '10's.

Behind the south endzone will be an area that will be called Monument Park, similar to what the old Yankee Stadium had to honor its legendary baseball Stars. (Note: the Yankees now play at the New Polo Grounds).

Plans and early designs have been made for the first 2 statues and monuments that will go up in Monument Park. QB Troy Pinson and RB Arnold "Arnie" Hammond will be the first two honorees.

A special Luxury box has a plaque on the gold plated door. The Plaque simply reads "FishFan." Mr. Fish will be the only person allowed to use that luxury box, and it will be provided free of charge, forever, being that Mr. Fish is the "First Fan" of Stars football.

Some special features of the new Roberts Stadium have been annouced. A season ticket holders room will feature large screen TV's with simulcasts of major horse racing tracks, and there will be on OTB for our ticket holders to wager on the exciting horseracing.

Also, there will be a luxury restaurant on site. The name of the restaurant is Wilzone's Calzones, and only the finest cheeses and meats will be used in Mr. Wilzone's secret recipe Calzones. The Stars have said that there is already a 2 year waiting list to eat at this restaurant, which overlooks the north endzone.

The "Kyle Bryant Room" will be on the second level of Roberts Stadium and is a trophy room which is open to the public on gamedays. The many Stars fans can take a walk through the Kyle Bryant room and admire display cases filled with trophys, plaques, and interactive displays which chronicle the history and the accomplishments of the Stars and the Stars great players. This room was named after the Stars first ever draft pick, and All-Star Safety, Kyle Bryant. Kyle and his brother Raymond, who still plays for the Stars, will be at the ribbon cutting ceremony when the stadium opens.

More news to come on the amazing roberts Stadium.

In other football news. TheRoyalOne, owner of the resurgent Kansas City Chiefs, has let his fame go to his head. He has legally changed his name to TRO. Don't let this egotistical move fool you though. the Chiefs are becoming a real force in the AFC West and may begin challenging the Stars for the division crown as soon as the 2020 season. This year is the 3rd year in TRO's 3 year plan to the playoffs, as he calls it.

More news from the world of football. The Cleveland Browns football franchise is going bankrupt, and a potential buyer has been found. The buyer's name is unknown, and her agent refers to her only as 3L. Her agent, longtime Cleveland sports fan, Ctown, says that a deal is pending, and if all goes as planned, the Browns will be owned by 3L before play begins this August. When asked about his relationship with "3L", Ctown said "there really is not much to say.....in fact, it is really a very boring relationship..." This writer can only ask, "What is he hiding?"

Reports out of Denver say that the man in the Orange wig has the city of Denver in a puzzle frenzy. Each Thursday afternoon, a full page ad in the Denver Post has been purchased by an unnamed advertiser. The ads are always complex weights and measurement puzzles, and the first Denver resident who correctly answers the puzzle each week receives a Colorado Springs T-shirt. There is a signature in the bottom corner of these adds that reads QS......more evidence to the true identity of the man in the orange wig.

Finally, on the hockey front, the Carolina Hurricanes, absent from the playoffs since 2001, have sold there franchise to a Manchester woman named Melissa. Melissa plans on bringing back the Hurricanes back to Hartford, and renaming them, once again, to the Whalers. The city of Hartford, void of a major sports team since the Whalers left in the late 1990's are celebrating this week at this news.

2020 Off-Season:

We have 2 players retiring this year:
DE Lewis Ferderer
LB Lawrence Stermer

The following players have been elected to the LA Stars Hall of Fame:
RB Arnold Hammond
T Jon Jansen
K Wade Richey
FB Jeff Sanders
S Kyle Bryant

T Jon Jansen was also just elected to the NFL Hall of Fame, with an 81% vote.

Coach Olin has decided to retire from the LA Stars organization. The Stars are happy to introduce their newest coach: 45 year old Doug Bergen.

Coach Olin leaves the coaching position with 233 wins against only 95 losses. That is a .710 winning percentage. He also has been to the playoffs 15 times, winning 7 Superbowls.

The Stars lost 54 million dollars this year.
Attendance was still at 100%, best in the NFL.
Ticket prices will remain the same this year.

Free Agency:
We sign Safety Burt Sheldon, and that should help out our secondary. They really got torched in that playoff game last year for 2 50+ yard Tds. Not much else happening in FA this year, so we resign a couple of our ouwn guys and head to the draft where we are picking 14th.

Draft:
1) T Lance Cascadden. The best T available in a position we sorely need to improve upon.
1) QB Bernie Sutton. Will probably be our starter of the future, and will challenge Gant for the job this year.
2) De Jason Harden. A very good looking DE to fill in for the retired Ferderer.
2) Karl Wilkins. A great LB who will see much PT.
3) RB Steven Quintanilla. Lots of red bars, little green, but will give good minutes.
4) C Jamal Chatman. Excellent lineman, especially for this deep in the draft.
5) TE KC Ward. OK backup TE. Maybe a breakout?
6) WR Leroy Lane. Just to fill a hole.
7) CB Steve Cass

T Lance Cascadden is a slight bust as we come out of camp. He should still be usable though. Everybody else looks to be just fine.

2020 Pre-Season:

Here is our lineup to start preseason. If there is a QB change, it will be noted.

QB Bernie Sutton
RB Anthony Candelaria
FB Gilbert Cook
TE KC Ward
WR Artie Broders
WR Robert Colby
C Russell Seau
G Willie Grim “Reaper”
G Geoff Scott
T Ernest Settles
T Chuck Mills

DE Louis Walker
DE Buddy Crane
DT Edwin Humphries
DT Malcolm Large
LB Marlon Martinez
LB Philip Crump
LB Arnold Lane
CB Grady Maxwell
CB Bruce Aliabadi
S Ray Bryant
S Bert Shelton

We go 3-1 in the preseason. Both QB’s played pretty good and I am really uncertain what to do. I decide on the rookie, simply because he has a much more promising future, and I might as well get him PT as soon as possible.

2020 Regular Season:

Week 1: LA (0-0) at Denver (0-0). We open up at Mile High Stadium. An unfriendly place for a rookie QB. The Broncos score the winning TD with 38 seconds left in the game. 13-12.

Week 2: San Diego (1-0) at LA (0-1). We return to the friendly confines of BioClone Stadium, where we were 8-0 last year. We win at home again 19-3. Sutton throws his very first TD pass in the NFL.

Week 3: LA (1-1) at Seattle (1-1). We try to get our first road win in rainy Seattle this weekend. We take the early 10-0 lead, and then hold on to win 13-9. Sutton was terrible, but Candelaria took the load on his shoulders and scored our only TD.

Week 4: LA (2-1) at NY Jets (2-0). We travel to the Big Apple to play the defending champs. A 31-24 win over the champs will do a lot of a young team with a rookie QB. 2 rushing Tds and 2 passing Tds turned out to be the perfect combo for the big road win.

Week 5: bye

Week 6: LA (3-1) at Houston (1-3). Our first ever game against the new Houston Texans franchise. And it was an unpleasant visit to Texas, as we lose 27-24. Statisically, we played great, they just got that extra FG at the end of the game to take us down. Malcolm Large was injured and will miss some significant time.

Week 7: KC (4-2) at LA (3-2). The Chiefs have shown steady improvement under TRO. They get to test themselves in LA this weekend. We send them back home thinking that they need more improvement. We win 27-7.

Week 8: Seattle (2-5) at LA (4-2). RB Candelaria opens the game with a 78 yard TD run and we never look back, taking this one 23-6. Candelaria finished with 120 yards and that TD.

Week 9: Buffalo (3-4) at LA (5-2). We get embarrassed at home 41-23. The Buffalo QB threw for over 500 yards against our secondary. They had been playing good, but our defensive weakness really showed this week.

MidSeason Stats:

QB Bernie Sutton. 127/214 (59.3%) 1,412 yards. 10tds. 5INTs. 84.8 QB rating.

RB Anthony Candelaria. 78/555 (7.1 average!) 3 TDS

Bert Shelton is tied for 2nd in the NFL with 5 INTs.

Statistically, we are not very impressive, but with a rookie QB, and 5 wins at the midway point, we basically control our own destiny as far as the playoffs go. We are 1/2 game ahead of TRO’s Chiefs in the division. Tennessee and Austin lead thier respective AFC divisions with perfect 8-0 records.

Week 10: LA (5-3) at San Diego (2-6). These are the road games that we HAVE to win if we are going to make the playoffs. We return the opening kickoff 106 yards for a TD and go on to win 24-3. We also scored on a returned INT.

Week 11: LA (6-3) at Green Bay (7-2). The Pack is one of the best teams in the NFC, and in the league. Green Bay is one of the toughest places to play in the NFL, so this will be a true test of this young Stars team determination. We score the first TD, but our defense is terrible once again as we give up 30 straight points, and finally lose 38-28.

Week 12: Denver (4-6) at LA (6-4). We return home, tied for the division lead with the hated Raiders. A sub-500 team awaits us, but they always play us tough. Our defense steps up after getting abused last week and the Stars win 23-6 and keep pace with the Raiders, who also won.

Week 13: LA (7-4) at Kansas City (5-6). TRO’s team is going to make a final push to get into the playoffs, and I just know that guy wants to knock us off our pedastal. The game ends tied at 13 so we go into overtime. The Stars get the first possession and drive into position for a 51 yard field goal. During the timeout, TRO comes down to the sidelines and whispers something into our kicker’s ear. He takes the field looking nervous, but the kick is up and good. Andy MacIntyre runs of the field after hitting the kick....just pointing and staring at TRO. TRO looks am me and I can read his lips: “Next year. You are going DOWN!” We are just happy to get out of there with the win.

Week 14: Oakland (8-4) at LA (8-4). These games always are intense, but for the first time in years the division title is at stake. The Stars crowd is in a frenzy a full 2 hours before kickoff. This is Coach Bergen’s first home game against the Raiders, and he is as pumped as the team. The two teams fight tooth and nail for 60 minutes. Many players from both teams are helped off the field due to injuries. The hitting is hard and bone crushing. Oakland has final possession and kicks the game winning field goal with 3 seconds left to win 21-18. Rioting breaks out all over LA after the game. There are 100’s of arrests, billions of dollars of dammage and sadly two fans are in the hospital after a knife fight between rival fans. It is a sad, sad week in LA.

Week 15: Jacksonville (6-7) at LA (8-5). We are clinging on to the final playoff spot, and the team’s morale is at an all time low. It was a tough week dealing with the tragedies in LA, and now it is up to Coach Bergen to get this team to regroup and focus on football. The Stars are just a shadow of their former selves. They lose 31-9...gaining only 170 yards on the day. Our only points came by way of the defense.

Week 16: Chicago (9-5) at LA (8-6). We are out of the playoffs right now. We lose on a tie-breaker with the Bills...but the season is not over and there is still time for the Stars to get it done. The mighty Bears come into town. They won the Superbowl in 2016 and 2017, and the core of that team is still playing. An insprired defense shuts the Bears out....they only scored off an INT returned for a TD. The final score was 14-7 and the Stars have life again.

Week 17: LA (9-6) at Oakland (10-5). Both teams are 7-2 in the conference, so this game should decide the division champ. Oakland’s crowd is revved up. Coach Bergen has the team ready, and as a special incentive, he introduces the team to his newest member of the coaching staff, Fritz. Mr. Fritz gives an inspriring speech to the boys...he gets them in a frenzy, he gets them angry, he gets them tearing down the locker room walls. Fritz ends his speech and the Stars rush out of the lockerrom and onto the field with more energy than I have seen this team in the last 15 years! The Raider, however, take the steam out of our sails and beat us soundly, 28-10. As our game is ending, the scorebaord flashes the Jacksonville, game. They won, we lost, we are going to be watching the playoffs on TV. The crowd roars even louder as the Jags score is flashed up above.
