Latest ESPN Sex Scandal

Steve Phillips has been suspended for a week for boinking a crazy production assistant, and the chaos that followed.

EXCLUSIVE: ESPN's Steve Phillips in foul affair with production assisant

(Don't miss the link to the letter the girlfriend wrote left in the wife's door).

Life is so much more complicated when you're a cheater. Life is just so much easier without having to worry about my girlfriend finding out anything. It's just not worth it at all, even if you have a straying eye.

The way this lady contacted Phillips' son on Facebook and what she said to him on there is a bit creepy.

Also on Fox Sports. Apparently this isn't the first time he has done this. What a douche.

I can not stand the guy. I hope this keeps him off the TV. I might actually watch Baseball Tonight again or better yet watch an ESPN baseball game with the sound on.

I like the part where he said he has concerns for his family's safety, but didn't consider any of that when deciding to nail the production assistant. His foreskin, er, foresight is amazing.

This.

And TBH I am pretty meh about it. It's not like he isn't doing something a million other guys have done before.

It certainly makes him a douche and the girl is obviously insane, but it seems like a pretty run of the mill office affair to me. Probably happens in 80% of the places we all work.

Good, now with him on temporary leave, the Mets will trade for a future HoF catcher and turn around the franchise!

Wait, this isn't 1998?

I enjoyed the odd reference to them both being Catholic and how their "faith dissaudes divorce", but then continues that Catholicism apparently "respects [divorce] because people should have the opportunity to be with the whomever makes them happy and give them what they need."

Now, I stopped going to church after I was confirmed (about 22 years ago), but I really don't remember anything about the Catholic Church respecting divorce "because people should have the opportunity to be with the whomever makes them happy and give them what they need." Perhaps the Catholic Chruch has changed since my time.

She also loves the pronoun "whom".

Yet she conveniently leaves out the part where they both violate one of the Ten Commandments.

I am wondering if this girl is related to Todd Hundley. He is a former Mets player, and Phillips is a former Mets GM. It's just funny that they have the same last name along with the Mets connection.

She looks OK in the referee shirt pic, the bunny ear pic, and a little less than OK in the baseball bat pic. The others ones are bad. Overall, not a good choice. But maybe she did a lot in the sack.

So is AJ just getting revenge on what he considers to be ESPN covering this up? If so, that could be a lot of collateral damage.

He was probably forced into covering a lot of Nationals games this year and felt he needed a slump buster.

I'm pretty sure Deadspin is pissed that they couldn't run anything they had on Phillips. AJ says he got a tip about it on September 9th, but ESPN wouldn't say anything. Now the NY Post kind of scooped them, so he wants to make sure that doesn't happen again, so he's just gonna fire from both barrels.

That's just a guess.

I do have to wonder if posting rumor and innuendo is the right way to make this point; how else would he expect ESPN to respond to the Phillips thing? Confirm it? Give him an exclusive? If he'd trusted what he had, he should have run it.

Yeah, it definitely leaves him open to criticism. It sure is paying off in the pageviews, though.
