Online golf text sim: www.easypar.org

I found a link for this game on the Hattrick conferences (aka forums) and signed up last week. I wanted to post about it here but forgot about it until I saw the Albatross thread. In fact I'd about forgot about it and just logged back in.

Anyway this one, www.easypar.org, really is an all text based golf sim in which you train once every 24 hour (log in for 30 seconds or so) and you can enter tournaments who run once every week, from Thursday to Sunday, as we're used to see in the regular pro tours. From what I read, tournaments are four round long with cuts after two rounds but I have not played my first tournament yet. I'm entered into the Volvo Masters, a European Tour tournament to be played at Valderama starting this Thursday. I guess I'll see how it goes on then.

Right now, I know I need to set some tactics for that tournament. Still a bit to figure out bit it can't be that tough, heh. I know you can set a general tactic for the whole tournament, so I might do that...
I think it's too late to enter in this week's tournament, sorry for that, but there are tournaments every week.

I'm known as FrogMan over there, player id is P00979 if that's worth anything...

Post in here if you are playing.

Well, I registered. Not sure if I'll keep up with it, but we'll see.

well, I guess I won't make the cut in that first tournament. I shot a +7 78 in my first round ever.

Kind of interesting, they give you a shot by shot of every hole as it happened. Here's how I my first hole went:
Quote:
Round:1 Hole: 1 Par: 4
FrogMan chose to hit a DRIVER down the MIDDLE of the fairway and play for the MIDDLE OF THE GREEN with the approach shot.
Shot 1: Tee Shot - Miss Fairway Left To Pin: 111 Yards - In the Bunker
Shot 2: Approach - Missed Green Back To Pin: 20 Yards - In the Bunker
Shot 3: Bunker Shot - On the green To Pin: 15Feet - On the Green
Shot 4: Putt - Missed Putt To Pin: 5Feet - On the Green
Shot 5: Putt - Holed Putt To Pin: In the Hole

That is about how it would happen in real life

I'm 118th out of 150 golfers in the tournament...

I am now entered in the Houston event, like daedalus and bbor and apparently st.cronin although I don't know which username he goes by. I think I recognize lcjjdnh as being from here as well as Coder too.

st.cronin, not much more of a clue than you other than you can train only once per 24 hours and apparently no more than three times in 6 days since I have this warning on my development page: "Warning - You have already had 3 practice sessions in the last 6 days and having another practice session will effect your temperament and might cause injury!"

oh, I see you now, you're listed as the 100th entry. I see Lathrop at 101.

Funny, daedalus should recognize brxnivy from Hattrick, he's also entered in that tourney. He's a category 10 ecemption although I have no clue what that means. All of us newbs are entered as category 99.

According to the help file (I knew that bbor would join and I'm his official instruction booklet reader), you CAN train more than 3 times per 6 days but each successive time you train beyond that (3 times per 6 days) gives you an increasing chance of injury. When you are injured (random number of days, apparently), you cannot train and your performance suffers a hit.

I think my plan at the moment is to see how I compete at this tournament then give Q-school tournament (whatever that is) a shot afterward.

Heh. I remember the name, never talked to him very much. It basically means that he has been in past tournament(s) and done well in them.

I just practiced for the second time and got the impression that my skills had actually gone down from the previous outing?

My first practice was on the range, mid irons. I think I remember getting the skill in question to 8. Looking now, I had all my skills at 7 again?

hrm, I think range practice brings the skill up one point and you lose points randomly once a week... anyway, here are my skills after a week of training:
Quote:
Practice SkillAbilityPractice Method
Drivingformidable
8
Long Ironsformidable
8
Club Pro
Mid Ironsformidable
8
Short Ironssolid
6
Short Gameformidable
8
Puttingformidable
8
Fitnesssolid
6

I've been practicing in whatever skill is among the low ones, always with the club pro.

Your Caddie: Ryan LYONS

You and your caddie have been together for 1 weeks.

Caddie Skillwretched
Caddie Relationshipexcellent
Caddie Cost$50/round
Termination Cost$4,950

So essentially, I hired my best friend as my caddie?
