New hard drive - advice
Hey guys -
Looking at buying an additional hard drive. Currently I have the original 75 gig as well as a 160 gig WD internal drive I added prolly a year or so ago. Both are getting full so I'm looking at getting some additional space. I'm thinking I want a larger external drive to archive a lot of the music/videos and to backup everything because I honestly would be devastated if anything happened to all the stuff I have on my computer. Just wondering if anyone knew of any great deals goin on or had any recommendations. Looking to not spend a ton... preferably under $100 but I really dont know what to even expect price-wise. Thanks for any help! -zums oh yeah - one question re: external drives... is there any sort of lag or anything when playing music and/or videos from an external drive as opposed to an internal drive? Things such as going to the next track and there's a pause while it queues up - that would kind of bug me if that is the case so I guess I would use it more as a backup and storage for older files rather than transferring much of my data there... again I have no experience w/ external drives so help me out! |

If you wait until Black Friday there were some pretty good 250 gig drive deals last year. Buy an enclosure kit and I'm sure you'll be under 100 easily.

Man, you should have asked this earlier. There was a 250gig drive for $50 during the woot-off today.

True. refurb'd is a bit chancy, but for that price... ... I ended up not ordering anything in the woot off.. I was tempted by a few things, but in the end I've found that often woot deals aren't really THAT great and I use it more for "unique" items than cheap ones.

They have a wireless router for 17.99 that I'm tempted to order. Only thing that I've missed thus far that pissed me off was some deluxe remote control for 9.99.

I haven't been watching as closely as I usually do.
