good point. good point. i suppose it's just that i've never been an Eddie Lewis fan, although he is probably playing the best soccer I've ever seen him playing right now. In my mind though, the lasting impression of him is an "offense first" defender who doesn't play spectacular defense.

Van Persie's role was a bit limited, part due to Robben's succes, giving the rest of the team enough reason to play it left time after time. Van Persie played his role well though. Looking back, my statement above may have been a bit harsh on him. Robben played phenomenal and put Van Persie into the shadows (inside joke for those who saw the game ).

I'm glad that I had the same idea as Bruce. I figured he would go with a 4-5-1 and hope for a couple quick counter attacks from our quicker players.

Cahill was hurt, had Australia been leading all game long, I bet he wouldn't even have played.

That was a pretty soft yellow card call. I've seen worse get no call at all in these games.

Prophetic.

Edit - although I'm not sure Convey shouldn't have been covering.

Short corners NEVER work. I don't know why people keep running them.

I'm not quite as confident, because Cech is probably the best goalie in the world right now. You can see that because they are not shooting at the goal on any of the set plays they've run down there so far.
