Spelling Bee is on
The most riveting sport in TV, the Spelling Bee, is on right now.
Nothing is better than watching these weird, obsessive compulsive kids make this life or death... greatest sport ever. And the irony of any spelling errors in this post is not lost on me. |

Not just that...it's the 1997 Spelling Bee. I can only think of one reason they are showing this - that home-schooled freak who smelled her hands like Mary Catherine Gallagher and screamed the letters when she won. But I didn't think that was 6 years ago. Or maybe time is really just flying by.

It's a sport, just like competitive farting.
Or so I've been told.

Why not? They show cheerleading competitions on ESPN. No matter what those sluts tell you, it's not a sport.

Maybe not.. but at least you need a bit of athletic ability to cheerlead..
"Oh my, looks like little jimmy pulled a hammy on the way to the microphone.. we shoot live to the consolation room.. where jimmy's parents look despondant.. Suzy?" "Yes Steve, i'm gonna get a word with jimmy's parents.. Mr and ms Johnson.. is it true Jimmy purposely pulled up lame to avoid spelling Chrysanthemum? Is there also validity to the rumors that Jimmy doesn't go full out on every word?" |

I'd still rather watch the spelling bee than watch any program having to do with fishing.
No, seriously. What programming executive puts a six-year old spelling bee on during Saturday Afternoon? Did they feel that they've played "NFL Films Presents: Super Bowl XIV" too many times? And how do you think the sport of drag racing feels, being put on ESPN2 in favor of the aforementioned spelling bee?

A 6 year old spelling bee? You would think that would be on ESPN Classic. I understand the E for entertainment part in the name but they need to find something a little more entertaining, I mean where's the midgets?
