Iphone 3g Water damage

Ok, so I dropped my Iphone 3g (just got it 4 weeks ago) this morning in water like an idiot.... of course I turned it on immediately after to see if it worked.. (what most online guides that I've read said NOT to do.. =/) it did stay turn on... however speakers were busted.... could not hear any songs and I could not hear whenever I made a test call. However the data was still working, facebooking and all. Moving forward, about 30 mins later, my screen started going crazy and it shuts off on me while surfing the web.

Now I'm wondering what are my options or what you guys suggest that I should do?

Here are the steps I've taken so far to try and repair it.
- Let it dry for 8 hrs
- Charging it to see if it turns back on
- I opened the phone, to see if there was any residue or corrosion from the water damage.. nada

A few peeps have already suggested that there are websites online that will repair my water damaged iphone for a fee. However, I am very wary to send my phone plus money to these sites I've never heard of before. NorthBay iPhone Repair Specialist .... We Can Repair Your Broken Phone ! ! ! is one...

Feedback will be greatly appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to read.

I've heard putting it in a container of dry white rice for a couple of days may fix it.

Try rapid repair. They do diagnostic for a .01 plus shipping fees to get back to you. They'll call you or email you with a quote and let you know how much it would be to get fixed.

Sounds like you may be out of luck. While I doubt it would be the same with the iPhone, I did have a phone damaged by water start working after letting it sit for about 3 or 4 days. Suddenly it just started working like nothing happened. You can give that a try...

Realistically, you are going to have to send it away to be repaired. I took my iPhone into an apple store to have it looked at once only to have a lazy POS "genius" refuse to actually look at it, telling me he knew the problem without looking and that I wasnt covered under the warranty. Now I latter figured out how to simply fix the phone myself, but he did tell me that my best bet was to send the phone to iResQ.com and have them fix it. So that site does come recommended. A google search on the previously mentioned rapid repair site also looks good.
