Dream Job....No More (Anyone Hiring)

Wow....well what can I say, after working for the company for a year, I get a phone call late last night.

I was recently promoted to Director of Field Operations for our company, and I have(had) a team of close to 20 guys underneath me.

Our company folded today due to personal issues with the owner of the company and his divorce which in turn, slams financial implications to us. So instead of us out on tour and being stranded, the president of the company figured it would be safer for us to fold the company.

So, I just had to tell a good friend who quit his job to come work for me he doesn't have one, I had to make a call to Cringer and let him know as well.

So today, I am now jobless and looking...anyone know of companies hiring that pay well, I am willing to relocate, hell I was on my way up to Buffalo for this company.

I know all too well how a seemingly great job/career path can suddenly disappear. I wish you well and hope you are able to make a quick and painless transition to another good opportunity.

I need a programmer lackey in Chicago for a couple months?

Seriously though, I've been there. A couple of times. Good luck to you, you'll get something soon.

Yeah. Heck of a morning.

Not even sure which way to go right now. I was hoping I was done with traditional driving for a while, at the least. I can not see what else I can get into at this point though. I want a job like I just lost, a little drivin', a little something else. Going back to Emerson is easy to do, I just don't really want to do it. So I am looking, too. Atleast for now.

Good luck to Dennis. Was good to work with you for a bit.

I can chip in about $50. Heck, maybe $100.

Yeah, would be nice if something happened real quick to keep the company around, but I can't count on that. I am going to look for a decent solo driving job first I guess, and if I don't see anything it's back to Emerson.

Email has been sent for the price, I will see. I just had several family members call and ask me how much they are asking.

Hope it works out for you both - that sucks that it's a personal issue rather than a company problem.

Actually the fact that it is a personal issue, might make it a little easier to work out, unless the guy is closing it out of spite so the ex doesn't get anything.

Keep me posted on what you here/know please. I liked the job a lot and already have so much time and energy put into it. If it is to be resurrected in a respectable amount of time then I want in. It is sinking in that I have to go back to Emerson, and despite the excellent pay and benefits that they give for drivers I just don't want to go back there right now and drive team again.

Well if he wanted to he could sell you the company for $10 and then give his wife $5

While in San Diego on tour, I pulled into a truck stop to get our truck washed. I had this guy pull right in behind me....

We talked a bit, walked around each others trucks talking about our jobs a bit since they were similar. I should have gotten his boss' phone number.

I've very sorry for both of you, Macro and Cringer. It sounds like you will both land on your feet, but it also sounds like you really didn't want to have to go though all of the pain and shit of finding new jobs.

Good jobs are hard to get. It totally sucks when you have one and it just goes away out of the blue.

I know the pain of losing the dream job, since mine ended a few months ago.

But it looks like I'll be starting a contract job at the end of the month. Not the glamorous, jet-setting job that I had before, but the rate was right, the work sounded interesting, and I can keep a roof over my head.

I'm not kidding. Obviously I have no idea how much this company would cost to buy, but if it's feasible for a bunch of people on here to put together a small investment, we should give it a shot.

I think most people would want a lot more information on the company and the situation before they would consider it as a serious investment opportunity.

Word! I'm not even sure what is being done here. It sounds like some bands going on tour and Cringer drivers the equipment around while MacroGuru handles the overall logistics.

I didn't know Optimus Prime worked for Sony.

Well, the numbers I got from Bob are pretty weird, I don't know If it's the way our company is or what not, but I am working on trying to get a business plan modeled right now.

Optimus Prime? I knew I recognized that truck. Damn I should have had a camera with me so I could have my picture taken with him!

The numbers are weird eh? I'm not too sure that is a surprise to me.

That was one of the first things I thought of. The ink was just starting to dry.

Not to mention I have all this Vista knowledge in my head and nothing to do with it now. I am going to explode because I will have to hold it in now.

Maybe I will go stand in the Wal-Mart electronics department some this weekend.

LOL Hell no!

I am running Vista now, and RC2 is a lot better than RC1, but I can't wait to get the gold version here soon.

All I can put on this laptop is home basic, but even the new features in that would be cool to play around with and see what they do.

Sort of sounds like what the company Mosaic does in Dallas (but their clients are nation wide).

Lawyerly advice is to keep people in the loop off of the message board. Talk to people individually.

Sorry about the loss of your gigs, btw.
