Friday Fun: Best Movie Fight Scene

On the radio yesterday the local guy talk/sports dudes were discussing the best fight scenes in movies. They weren't talking about the James Bond fights were they fight for 5 minutes, no one gets bloody, and Bond walks away without a hair out of place after dispatching 10 'guards.' Instead, they were talking about realistic, yeah that could've happened, people bleeding, out of breath ass kickings.

I thought with the movie knowledge and testosterone around here, it might make a worthy topic for some Friday afternoon fun.

And the Oscar goes to...

I'd say at least an honorable mention would have to be from "Fight Club". You are talking hand to hand combat, one on one, right?

I imagine it will probably end up that way, but I wouldn't exclude group fights. I imagine that most fights involving multiple people will end up looking choreographed like a bad Dukes of Hazzard barroom brawl.

I imagine a movie like Roadhouse would contain examples of one on one fights and group fights, but I don't know that I would consider any of them really 'good.'

the landing scene in Commando. So arnie figures out how to use claymores to cause buildings to explode, then uses his unending ammo m-60 to mow down hundreds of mercs, then retreats into a gardening shed where he kills 4 guys with an axe, a machete, a saw blade, and a knife.

Several good scenes in Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Arnold v. Predator, and, even though I didn't like the movie, Darth Maul v. Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan I thought was very entertaining.

I think bringing this fight up in a thead about "best" fight scenes should be a bannable offense. That scene was PAINFUL to watch. I didn't think that fight was ever going to end. It was like some studio exec said "Hey, this movie is about 10 minutes too short, what can we do to fill that time?"

LMAO

The way you worded this was hilarious!

I'd take the final fight in Drunken Master. But pretty much all of the fights Jackie Chan did in that movie blow away any others I have seen.

My favorite fight scenes

(1) Kill Bill vol 1 - restaurant scene
(2) Perfect Weapon - Kenpo guy vs 3 TKD in dojang
(3) Best of the Best 1 - last fight of the tournament

From what I know of MA, #2 and #3 were real moves (ex. no special effects).

Assuming I'm not being completely naive and missing out on an older movie, I'll echo your thoughts towards the first Transporter. The bus barn fight was one of the most enjoyable fight scene's I had watched in a long time. Mostly because it was well done, but also because it was somewhat outside the box from most fight scene's that get put into movies. Not often you see something that stands out as being that different from the usual while being pulled off that well.

The house fight wasn't bad either, but the bike/oil/bus one just really stands out whenever I think about movie fight scenes.
