The Greatest Thread in FOFC History - nomination thread

If there is enough interest I will start a poll to determine the greatest thread in the (documented) history of the fofc. I have four nominees:

Maximum Football???

Awkward

Ping: Blackjack Players (homer pick)

is it ever acceptable to... (dark horse pick)

Feel free to nominate other threads. Please include the link if you do so.

Dola: I mean those don't even start to crack the legendary Dave Dial nor the several classic HornsManic threads (including those lost to posterity).

No problem. Another great thread, which it looks like we may have lost, was CleBrownsfan's "So I think my co-worker is a porn star" (that's not the exact title, but close enough)...

Maximum Football is just in a league of its own. Awkward was the introduction of the flereigram, and that alone gains it entry in to the thread Hall of Fame.

Although I am partial to Awkward, Awkward 2008 and cartman's Krispy Kreme thread, nothing is ever gonna beat Maximum Football. That thread evolved over a few years and that is still probably the only thread where you see a majority of the text sim developers write at least one post. The Photoshop images in that thread alone blows away any other thread. And it still has the record number of views and posts.

The blackjack thread is my favorite. the explanation of the martingale system by jbmagic and the great "if you lose that many hands in a row, blackjack might not be your game" line probably made me laugh more than anything else ever here.

What really stood out about this thread at the time was that it got to the tenth page. Doesn't seem like much now, but back in '01, it was rare for a thread to get to page 2, let alone page 10.

I nominate the Ping: Drunk Guy thread.

This was the definitive WrongWay predicting things thread. I'm just glad he didn't have any money or otherwise he would have probably poured his life savings into Elmo futures and found himself drinking alone on Christmas Eve surrounded by Elmo dolls trying to figure out what went wrong.

BTW, one of the greatest end of threads ever. Just read the last two posts.

There are better overall threads but the Dictator thread reminded me of the "I will not accept a banning" moment and some other classics, like the night Happy24 masterbated all over the board.

Very good index of famous humorous threads. I would say for total humor, nothing can beat Maximum Football. For humor per post, nothing can beat the blackjack thread. Those would be my top two choices, no disrespect to the other excellent nominees.

Did anyone already mention the Hornsmaniac's tips for getting the girls eventually evolving to his cheating in the RWBL and eventual embarassing departure from FOFC only to make up stories about someone calling Dell to get him fired and making him live in a shoebox (or whatever the case was)... or maybe that was multiple threads.. I don't remember.

I assume we aren't talking dynasties because, in my mind, stuff like X-Com or Kodos's "little" threads are the cream of the crop here.

(Instead, I'm sure we'll end up with something insipid)
