No Tcy2 For 2k3
First off, I love TCY... I purchased it when it first came out, I sat thru all of the patches until we got a very playable version... I have spent countless hours playing this game, in fact I am playing it right now... It's a great game but for Jim to tell us he might make another TCY game sometime in the future (2year+) is crazy... We need another serious upgrade (not a minor) or a whole new TCY next year, I love the FOF football series and it would be a waste for Jim to enter another sport. So please, stick with what got you this far.... FOOTBALL!!!!

I agree. The current TCY just needs some "tweeks" in my opinion. More options available that currently are not such as Non-Conference Scheduling, ability to Play Call, etc..
Bottom Line though, this is THE GAME, bar none!!

tcy2/college football
yep, it seems to me every other major sport is reasonably represented by a text sim that utilizes both gm (ie, financial and front office) and coach mode (ie, playcalling), except for college football...
two things i'd love to see from someone: 1) college football game with playcalling abilities 2) baseball sim that combines the financial model of mogul with the in-game capabilities of ootp (although from what I understand the last patches for ootp improved some financial stuff.) |

I also believe Jim shouldn't leave the FOF series.
it's HIS field of action/knowledge and has proved to be the best at it.

I also agree with several others in that I think his expertise can best be utilized by sticking with the football genre. I think in many cases, he would be trying to develop a new customer base because I like many others, am not interested in other sports text-sims. I am 100% sure I wouldn't spend money on a game he produced outside of the product line he already offers. He has the head-start in this sport and if he spent a signifigant amount of time developing another sport sim I think 2 things would happen:
Just my thoughts!

I would anticipate you will see a roster/schedule update this fall, for free. Then I would expect to see TCY2 in time for the 2004 college football season.

I love TCY as well, and would absolutely *LOVE* to see playcalling added to TCY. To me, thats what makes FOF4 and lower much more exciting, because you can call the plays.
One thing I dislike about TCY is that when you import draft classes in FOF, most of the players are way too light or too short to realistically play their positions and when you want to convert them to a position they would be better off playing they take a major high in ratings. |

I am amused about the request for a new version with just some small new features. I am not saying this is the view of those in this thread, but when another companies release new versions every year and charge full price, we hear huge complaints. Now when another company decides to wait and not do annual updates, we others complain.
What is a developer do with conflicting customer feedback? Todd

Hm... now here's an interesting point - will there be a TCY2 by necessity if the ACC Expansion happens?

there are a lot of teams changing conferences soon. Temple out of the big east, U-Conn in. Also, either South or Central Florida is headed to the MAC either this year or next. |

I'd like to see a new version where it treated the players more like atheletes than one specific position, more of a hattrick style. As it is now the whole position changing in completely ridiculous.

Have any of you TCY-lovers played NCAA Football 2003 on one of the consoles? I have it for the XBox and it is one of the greatest games I have ever played. I played it before I bought TCY and to be quite honest I was disappointed in TCY. I typically play the XBox game in coach-only mode, so I recruit and then play call. It is super-duper fun.
Those of you that have played both games how do you think they compare? |

I liked NCAA on the Xbox so much I bought an Xbox. I generally do not like joystick jockey games, but the NCAA 2003 allows you to play as coach only (for the most part) I also have to say that allthought recruiting is not as "realistic" in NCAA it is more "fun" I played alot of TCY but I prefer off-season recruiting even if that is not how it is done in real life. having said all that I will be sure to buy NCAA 2004 as soon as it is released, but will also buy TCY2 or FOF5 as soon as they are released. I am always willing to take a $50 gamble on a sports sim game. |

Heck yeah, NCAA 2003 rocks. I haven't played it in a while (probably seven or eight months), but it's probably time for me to restart my UTEP dynasty. We've won a couple of national titles, so it's not totally realistic, but it sure is a ton of fun...
