I get giddy when this comes out every year:

NFL TV Distribution Maps

Brett Favre = ratings, or at least that's the expectation.

Ugh, so my three games this weekend are:

NYJ @ HOU
DAL @ TB
WSH @ NYG

What a rediculously miserable way to start the season. Not a single team I have any interest in watching at all other than hopes for Tampa to implode I guess

Ah, the annual "I get them all with Sunday Ticket on DirecTV" thread.

edit: And now all on your phone if you have the right phone (and Sunday Ticket).

Not too shabby. This will be one of eight times I get to watch the Lions on TV this year. They will, of course, lose and lose badly. Anyone who drafted Drew Brees in their fantasy draft is very likely to win Week 1.

Looks like I'll be going to Buffalo Wild Wings to watch Colts (I root for Peyton as a Vols fan) vs. Jags (I root for the rookie CB from W&M that was just named a starter).

KC @ BAL
DAL @ TB
Either WAS @ NYG or STL @ SEA

I'm annoyed at the KC/Bal game on at the same time as Mia/Atl, since I remember getting a lot of Falcons games last year and it'd have given me a chance to watch the 'Phins.

So yeah, no games I particularly care about. The one game that might pique my interest from a fantasy interest (Skins-Giants) is the one we might not get

Missing the Miami - Atlanta game by one county, I'll have to choose between a bar or a PC stream. I wish the Jaguars would move or fold.

I see my Super Bowl runner up Cards still getting no respect with just coverage in Nevada, California, and Arizona for the 49ers game. Too bad if the last couple seasons have been any indication, it will be a wild high scoring game.

Go Cards!

Boy I'm glad I'm going to be out of town this weekend, because we are only getting 2 games during the 12-6 CST run on Sunday because of the stupid no-compete rules for the Cowboys and Texans.

What's with the weird blocks in CBS' coverage out west? Are there a lot of Jets/Texans fans in Southern California? Dolphins/Falcons coverage in Montana/Idaho? *boggle*

Having 4 primetime games definitely dillutes the Sunday afternoon schedule. I guess its forgiveable week 1, since everyone's 0-0 and all the games theoretically mean something, but I hope this isn't a growing trend.

I like to see which games get the lowest distribution. I do like how Cleveland still gets Baltimore instead of Cincinnati though.

I always go to the bar for the games unless the Giants are on in my area.

They wont be this week since the Seahawks are on at the same time. The early game is Cinci-Denver and Minnesota- Cleveland.

Ugh.

Though I have no idea why Miami-Atlanta is only in Bakersfield. Or why KC-Baltimore is only in San Diego...

edit: only thing I can see (using wikipedia-fu) on the Miami-Atlanta game is that Joey Porter played high school football in Bakersfield (Foothill High School). Perhaps that's it?

Getting Minnesota vs. Cleveland in Colorado, but unfortunately the Broncos are playing at the same time. I'll have to go to the bar so I can watch both.

They've been doing this the last few week 1's. A Thursday night opener, a Sunday night game, then 2 Monday night games. And they keep putting the late Monday night game on in Oakland. Ugh, guaranteed crappy football.

Here's week 2:

NFL TV Distribution Maps

It looks like I am getting:

Cinci @ Green Bay (ugh)
Pit @ Chicago (decent)

It also lists the Detroit area getting New Orleans @ Philly instead of the Lions' game. I am not sure if that's anticipating a blackout, but I thought if you had a blackout you didn't get another game, just infomercials.

Hey HB (or anyone else), I can't see the site now -- can you tell me what it says for Chicago? I'm hoping to get the Lions game there. Although if they're not showing it in Detroit, it doesn't seem likely they will show it in Chicago...

Wait a second. You get to watch the Lions get destroyed and embarassed by the Vikings and listen to whatever C-list announcers they have covering the game fawn over Brett Favre for 3 hours and I am the one who is sucking it? Oh, au contraire, mon frère.

I think Fox only has the early game this week and both the Lions/Vikings and Saints/Eagles games are at 1:00 pm EST. I could be reading it wrong, however.

But oh for that 2% chance of watching the Lions end their losing streak by beating Favre! Plus I rarely get to watch Lions games here -- even when the Bears don't have that timeslot, it usually goes to the Packers or Vikings, then some other important game, before they get to the Lions.

I'm a little surprised. I got asked by 2-3 people last week who won the Vikings game, so there's interest here, even if it's perverse interest.

That is surprsing. It must be some sort of anti-Favre rule or something.

Just doesn't make any sense to me from a business perspective. If you're the network that does not have the Packers game on a given Sunday, what's the one chance in hell you have of bringing in some ratings? Show Brett Favre.

Weren't the Jets on CBS in the Green Bay market just about every week last year? I know we saw way too much of the Jets here in Chicago.

I think TB-BUF is the late game. You should be blacked out at one because of NE-NYJ.

I feel like the hate for Favre among Packers fans on this board has increased dramatically this offseason compared to last. Maybe ratings were low for the Min-Cle game in the area last week?

If I am reading the maps right, Detroit will not get a 1pm game thanks to the Lions blackout. Looks like I will be hitting a local bar.
