Football Manager beta demo out today
Hi,
Just so you lot are aware the beta demo of Football Manager is available for download later today from sigames.com. This has been released to get us feedback on the general gameplay and also so we can find out any system compatibility problems in advance of the game going 'Gold'. All feedback will be appreciated as we still have time to make changes and ensure its the game everyone wants. Hope this helps, Marc PS. The Mac beta demo is already up (by way of apology for it not being on the magazine cover disk - this was a mistake in manufacturing and beyond SI's control), the PC beta demo will be available for download later today. |

When's later?
Don't you know you can't to this? If you're going to tell us about it we want it now! And there's no where open right now where I can go out and buy a Mac. Last edited by mckerney : 09-23-2004 at 03:36 AM. |

I think we'll know when the PC version is out when the net crawls to a halt as thousands of people dive in...

Sounds enticing, but I usually never play the demos, it ruins the surprise, and feels like Christmas when I finally get that package in the mail

Thanks, Marc!
I'm going to have to build a real computer soon so the SWMBO can play The Sims 2 (I intend to play it as well) so I'll actually be able to play FM! Woohoo! What timing! |

Excellent news. The wife goes away on a business trip next week and it looks like I have something to keep me busy.

Some things never change ... on the Brightside I'm fairly confident that GameShadow should be able to cope with the strain (after all its what the company is dedicated to doing). PS. We've got up to FOUR dedicated servers at Sega when we do large download releases like this ... but unfortunately for a download in demand as much as this it really needs specialist service (which is why we've got GameShadow as a backup mirror). Gameshadow was fast as lightning. Just played first pre-season game and thwacked huddersfield with Birmingham 7-0...by half-time! It looks good though so far. Much better then the beta demo of 03/04. I really like the new look and the interface.
Happy boy

Marc, I know about the "it will be ready when it will be ready" line, but is it readlly a possible date for release? If so, wow. I was more on the mindset of early December than early November... FM

I get an error message when I try to double click on the downloaded file from CoreFM.net. It says "Football Manager 2005 Beta Demo" is not a valid Win32 application.

Oh, and just so you don't think you are the only ones excited about it, the article had been viewed more than 4000 times! (In just a couple hours) I'm trying to not get too excited about a beta demo but it's getting more and more difficult

Yeah. The CoreFM file is too small. It's only downloading 3.2mb out of the 30mb file, and then stopping. November 5th!!!! SWEEEEEEEEEET!!!!
Edit: Any news on whether FM2005 will have a US release or be downloadable Marc, or should we in the US plan on purchasing it and having it shipped over as we have done in the past? Last edited by DaddyTorgo : 09-23-2004 at 09:11 AM. |

That doesn't mention a US release, which sucks. I'm not buying it till it comes out in the US.

It is pretty fun. Even with playing with lowly St. Albans City.

FYI, there is a 'Print to Web Page' and 'Print to Text File' option for roster screens. I imagine for others too, although I haven't tried those.
The Print to Web Page is very basic, not pretty, but usable. It translates very ugly into posting here, though; due to vbulletin's tendency to insert carriage returns into the post for carriage returns between TR,TD, etc. tags. Plus, it's long - shows much more than is on the screen at the moment. The Print to File option is unworkable on my machine at the moment - it prints to an .rtf file, with carriage returns seemingly after ever what would be text box. For example: Code:
But good things so far. Kevin |

Wow - the interface for the game is stunning. That is what sticks out for me right now. I am about to dig deeper. Let's see, November 5th, that is 43 days
The good news is I will have money and hopefully it will be able to be downloaded.
