Exclamation FOFC All-Time NFL Challenge Round 1 - Team I vs. Team II

Which team would win head-to-head, with all of the players in their prime?

Team I:

Coach Bill Walsh (66)
QB Steve Young (80)
RB Barry Sanders (1)
FB Tom Rathman (1)
WR Fred Biletnikoff (102)
WR Paul Warfield (25)
TE Ozzie Newsome (10)
C Mark Stepnoski (1)
G Forest Gregg (76)
G Joe DeLamielleure (43)
T Dan Dierdorf (100)
T Ron Yary (31)
K Pete Stoyanovich (1)
P Sean Landeta (5)
Rtn Mel Gray (10)
ST Michael Bates (3)
DL Charles Haley (5)
DL Randy White (76)
DL Howie Long (102)
DL Jerome Brown (1)
LB Jack Lambert (65)
LB Ray Nitschke (51)
LB Ted Hendricks (26)
CB Deion Sanders (30)
CB Herb Adderley (68)
S Merton Hanks (1)
S Larry Wilson (20)

Offense:
Steve Young is the engineer for mastermind Walsh’s offense. Barry Sanders will bust big plays while Biletnikoff, Warfield, and Newsome provide the ball-control passing targets. The line is solid and athletic across the board. The special teams can be electric.

Defense:
The defense combines size and speed with attitude. The line is led by ferocious Randy White and Howie Long, with Charles Haley dominating the pass rush. The linebackers are true punishers. Sanders shuts down one corner slot and can be instant points on INT returns. Adderley, Hanks, and Wilson lock down the secondary.

====================

Team II:

Coach: George Halas (5)
QB: Dan Marino (15)
RB: Walter Payton (72)
FB: Larry Csonka (15)
WR: Cris Carter (101)
WR: Steve Largent (15)
TE: Kellen Winslow (71)
C: Mike Webster (15)
G: Gene Upshaw (15)
G: Mike Munchak (15)
T: Anthony Munoz (71)
T: Jackie Slater (15)
K: Lou Groza (15)
P: Ray Guy (15)
Ret: Tim Brown (45)
ST: Bill Bates (30)
DL: Joe Greene (72)
DL: Merlin Olsen (15)
DL Chris Doleman (61)
DL: Carl Eller (15)
LB: Derrick Thomas (60)
LB: Mike Singletary (71)
LB: Kevin Greene (15)
CB: Mel Blount (71)
CB: Darrell Green (15)
S Tim McDonald (60)
S: Paul Krause (15)

Offense:
Marino is the most prolific passer in NFL history, and Payton was the same at running back. I have two of the best there. Largent finished his career as the best receiver ever. He has been passed by some players, including fellow Team Two receiver Carter, but he remains a historic great. Winslow is the mold from which passing tight ends are made. Munoz was the most dominant lineman ever, and tackle partner Slater is the position's elder statesman. Webster was the crafty leader of Pitt's champion lines, and Upshaw and Munchak are two of the guard position's greats.

Defense:
Mean Joe Greene. 'Nuff said. He is joined by Fearsome Foursome tackle Olsen. Two Vikings, big sack star Doleman and Purple People Eater Eller, man the ends. The defense is led from the middle, where fierce, bug-eyed Mike Singletary makes the calls and crushes backs. He is flanked by the active, emotional duo Greene and Thomas, two great tacklers and pass rushers deluxe. McDonald was downright cruel as a hitter and cover man, and he is paired with heady old-timer Krause. Green, the longtime fastest man in the NFL, shuts down one corner, and corner Blount is the position’s model.

Team II defeats Team I, 31-8, and moves to the semis.
