Big Love season two
I'll be watching tonight. Are there any other Big Love fans here?

I was under the impression that this was the start of the first season. How long has it been on?

Definitely Season Two... I'm not sure when the first season actually ran...the wife and I actually caught it on On Demand a few months ago and were hooked just about instantly...

I'll have to find a way to see season 1. Ever since watching "Frailty", Bill Paxon has been one of my favorite actors. He's like a good version of Kevin Costner. |

Big fan but I have to finish Season 1 before I start watching season 2. I am on episode 9 now.

And one episode was plenty to remind me why I don't really like this show. I love the cast. I love the high production values. But there is not a single likeable character. This show is ultimately all about the soap, and because I dislike every single character, the soapy plots are unable to keep my interest.
It doesn't surprise me a bit that this show has a loyal following. Ultimately, I guess I have to shrug my shoulders and figure that Big Love is just not my cup of tea. Last edited by Bad-example : 06-12-2007 at 01:06 PM. |

I have similar feelings about the show. I keep watching it but the reason it has never really become a "must see" show for me is the lack of likeable characters. Big Love episodes usually sits on my DVR for a week or two until I find myself bored and nothing else saved to watch... |

I missed the begining of the new season last night, but I find the character's likeable enough. Bill is a guy that wants to do right by his family, all be it a different type of family. Two out of the three wives are likeable in their own way.
I guess for me, the bottom line is aside from Nikki, there is no one in the live-in family that I ever want to cheer against, and since there are kids involved that love the family, I have plenty of reasons to cheer for them all. |

Season 2 really has a lot going on. Alby creeps the hell out of me, as does Rhonda. I think Bill might be getting himself in over his head with this Gambling Business.

Lady H_B and I just started watching this show a few weeks ago. We happened to catch a random airing of the first or second episode of Season 2 and enjoyed. We went back and watched a handful of episodes available on On Demand. We're definitely fans.
The cast is top quality. The show is very well done. I like pretty much everyone in Bill's family. I could see where some folks may not like Nikki, but I love her. She's by far the most entertaining of the three wives, even though by far the most annoying. We're definitely glad to have finally come aboard.

I'm really liking this season so far. Really well written and acted.
I can't believe he's thinking about another woman. My God, how much hassle does one man need?

Man, Bill is so in over his head. As an aside, there was more hotness in that episode than I've ever seen.

Margie bootie FTW! Damn, the past few episodes have been killer after a fairly slow start to the season. Albie possibly taking over the UEB just blows my mind...

The writing this season has been absolutely top notch. I couldn't stop laughing whenever Bruce Dern's character (Bill's dad) came into the room. He's just such an ASS, but so well done. Some of the lines he has... just killer.
And don't think I didn't like Margene's nude scene either. Unexpected but extremely welcome bonus.

After the second episode, things are starting to look good for the family. That means utter disaster is approaching.

I'll be shocked if Albie lives through this season. He's playing with some major fire.
Can't wait to see what Bill's mom does to his dad in the shed. That's not likely to end well for one of them. |

Apparently that's not all he's playing with. You'd think George Michael would have taught folks about the ol' public bathroom hookup.

Isn't that the second time Albie nearly bit it during a random hook-up? Or am I just thinking about the dude he picked up that Albie freaked out on when he came on to him?

The funny thing about Albie is that even though he's crazy, it's not a scary-crazy like you usually see on TV, it's more of a lame-crazy.

How many more episodes until Heather and Sarah finally hook up?

You are just thinking about the time Albie freaked out in the hotel room. Bill's brother's wife Wanda gave him antifreeze that almost killed him. |

Wanda and Bill's mom are the best characters on this show (and there are a lot). I love scenes they have together. Last season when the mom convinced Wanda to sneak the gun into the courthouse was great.

I've had a hard time getting into this season. The lose of Roman as the antagonist hasn't been replaced well IMO.

I miss Roman too but having less troubles watching this season than I had with season 3 so far.
All in all Big Love is a difficult show to watch for me cause I find all the characters (except Margene and Sarah) creepy, and Bill has reached a new level this season. |

Let it be said that season four killed Big Love.
The last three episodes were particularly ridiculous.

I was gonna post something like this after seeing the finale as well but forgot. Just a really stupid season. I don't mind so much the Bill=asshole developments so much because that's been a continuous slide from the beginning. But the stupidity just really takes me out of the show. And that isn't even counting the whole Mexico sideplot fiasco.
