(Beating everyone else to it) Pats Harrison ordered HGH in 2004.

Days before the Patriots beat the Tennessee Titans at a freezing Gillette Stadium in the 2004 playoffs, safety Rodney Harrison placed his first order for HGH, according to a story in Sunday's Albany Times Union. The story, which cites unnamed law enforcement sources, said Harrison received a package of preloaded syringes at his home about two weeks before the Patriots beat the Panthers in Super Bowl XXXVIII. Harrison would go on to make several discreet calls placing more orders over the next three years, the paper reported.

If true, and he lied to Goodell, (remember, he said he only took it to "Recover from injury") I have no problem with extending his suspension to the season. Enough is Too Much.

If true I really don't think he'll play again. Goodell seems like the type that is only going to get more and more pissed off that people aren't taking him seriously yet. Harrison should have come clean immediately.

Isn't this exactly what the suspension's based on?

Yep. He doesn't like people that lie to him at all. Ask Mr. Vick when Goodell tacks on a year's suspension in addition to his time in jail.

Nevermind, I skimmed the post and missed the part where he lied to Goodell.

If true, the Pats need to just cut ties with him now.

It'd be a shame for Harrison to go bye-bye forever.

molson - this is the issue. Goodell has said for several of the things this season (Vick and Coach B come to mind) that if he finds out he was lied to, the punishment will go up.

So, i certainly think it's possible that if this is what he told Goodell and Goodell based the punishment on "just recovering from injuries" that it could become more harsh.

This is a semi-threadjack and I apologize, but it seems like a fairly appropriate spot.

Do you guys think all of the things that have come down this year will affect Paul Tagiabue's legacy? The more we see from Goodell, the more it seems like Tagliabue (who I had always perceived as a living legend) was asleep at the wheel.

Good point, and I echo it as well.

Hell, I'd say Goodell makes every other commisioner look bad.

I'd probably agree if you substituted Bilechuck's name in there.

With apologies to Chris Rock, at this point I would rather get caught stealing from the government than lying to Roger Goodell.

I wonder if ol' Roger is like that everywhere. "You said this extended warranty would cover accidental breakage... YOU LIAR! I suspend you for ONE YEAR!"

For those questioning Tagliabue, the answer is Yes, he was really asleep at the wheel. When it came to promotions, expansion and developing the market for the NFL, tags was al over it, but internal things like fines suspensions and discipline issues? he was a wet ragdoll.

THe true living legend was Pete Rozelle, who did everything tagliabue AND Goodell do well, and he did it better than either one.
