OMG BABY!!!

On Friday morning, August 22nd, at 7:49 AM, my wife & I were blessed to bring young Samuel Micah into the world. Mother and boy are both healthy and doing well. Daddy is seriously sleep deprived and now knows the fear of dirty diapers.

Only 55 pickies, flere-imsaho? Make use of your PC while it still has storage left (or add a few terabytes of hard disk memory) particularly when young Samuel learns to use a camera and the PC.

Congrats!

Agreed, if you get the Genie II. I was ready to give up on them after a sucky I, but the II was smell proof until its filled, then you just take it all out anyway.

Oh and CONGRATS! That second pic on the list up there is one every mother gets, and its always adorable! Take a tiny bit of advice and change every dirty diaper for about 2 weeks, and your wife will love you forever and sing your praises to everyone forever.

The trick seems to be to prevent the mistake I made on our first Genie - if you ever let it mildew then the smell lasts forever. When you clean it, make sure it's dry before closing it back up & reloading it. I pretty much rendered the first one we had unusable with that mistake, the second one lasted for the rest of our need without any more problems.

Super ditto on this. I'm guessing that most people complaining about the Diaper Genie had the original version. Genie II is a gift from God himself.

I probably just had Genie 1 then. I wasn't sure whether or not genie 2 was backwards compatable or not. Genie 1 sucked worse than Shaq Fu.

Thanks for all the congrats, folks!

I've now had approximately 19 hours of sleep in the past 5 days. Not horrible, but I basically didn't sleep at all last night (the first night home).

Little Samuel and Mom are doing well, and we'll probably have some more pictures at the link above soon.

As for diapers - right now we're using disposables and just throwing them in the trash as they don't smell (that comes later). Once things settle down, we'll be switching over to *gasp* cloth diapers. A move I resisted, sure, but my wife was adamant. So that'll be a whole new level of exciting.

Oh, and I've changed all but one diaper so far. And little Samuel's favorite sleeping position is on Daddy's chest while Daddy slumps in the couch watching Sportscenter. Each. And. Every. Sportscenter.

The cloth diaper route takes some serious dedication...my friends wife was all pro environment and such...but in less than 4 weeks she was like....screw this, disposables it is.

Congrats to both of you.

Bold move with the cloth diapers. My commitment to environmentalism disappeared when physical and olfactory contact with feces became involved.
