CLCS Game 1:

Kieran Browne for Edmonton vs Julian Diaz for Baltimore

Oliver Whittingham starts the game off with a bang with a Solo Homer in the top of the 1st to put Baltimore up 1-0. In the bottom of the inning however, Edmonton comes charging back with a leadoff Single from Pina, a stolen base and a single by Trujillo.. Pina rounds third, coming home.. The throw from Left field... is IN TIME!! He is OUT! After 1 inning, the score is still 1-0 Baltimore.

In the top of the third, Baltimore adds to their lead on another Whittingham RBI, this time a double to centerfield, followed by a Harrington RBI double to put 2 more on the board. 3-0 Baltimore!

Edmonton finally scratches the scoreboard in the bottom of the 3rd on a Gill RBI single that cuts the lead to 3-1, then in the 5th they score again on a Arturo Hernandez RBI single that makes it a 1 run game, 3-2.

Leonard Parkinson helps add cushion to the Charm lead in the top of the 6th with a Solo Home Run and that is all of the scoring for the game until the 9th inning....

Baltimore gets a single in the top of the 9th, but that is erased by a double play and they go down in turn. Baltimore leads 4-2 entering the bottom of the 9th. The Charm bring in Gareth Dempster to try to close out the game for them...

Tony Ibarra leads off the bottom of the 9th with a pinch-hit single, but two quick outs of Pina and Koki Sasaki brings it down to 2 outs and the tying run coming to bat in the form of Carlos Trujillo.

The pitch to Trujillo, and he hits that hard.. but it is a line drive, that won't get out of the park, but it hits the wall on the fly! Pina scores all the way from first and Trujillo is in to second with a two out double! 4-3 Baltimore leads now with 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th!

George Swyers comes to bat next.. he fouls off a few pitches before a Dempster pitch gets away from him and clips him! He will take a base!

Arturo Hernandez up next, swings at the first pitch he sees... and he hits it high... but not out of the infield... Easily caught by the second baseman and that ends the game... Baltimore holds on to win game one 4-3!

Baltimore 4, Edmonton 3

RLCS Game 1:

Juan Sierra for New York vs Leon Olivares for Ann Arbor

Neither team can score to start the game, until the 4th inning when Ann Arbor finally breaks through against Sierra. a Nathan Weeks RBI double scores two and gives the Winged Ligerines a 2-0 lead.

New York gets one back in the botom of the 6th when Jose Gonzales scores on a ground out by Gabriel Duran, but the Heroes break through finally in the bottom of the 8th when Aaron McIntosh lines a single over the Shortstop's head to bring home two more and give New York a 3-2 lead!

Ann Arbor comes up to bat in the top of the 9th, trailing by one. New York brings in Manny Villa to try to save the game for them.

The first batter, Ferid Belaouf is a pinch hitter, and he swings at the first pitch he sees, lining it to the gap in Right-center for a double! Weeks flys out to Right field, but then Brendan Jones lines a single to short-right field. Belaouf makes it to third, but is held up there...

Pepillo Lujan, hardly sees anything to hit when he comes up next, and he takes a walk to load the bases with only 1 out in the top of the 9th!

Ann Arbor brings up another pinch hitter in Fernando Nieves, who is unable to put the ball in play as he strikes out swinging for the second out of the inning...

Vallis comes up to bat, as Ann arbor's last hope.. He takes a called strike, but then receives four straight balls for a walk! That walks in the tying run, as the score is now 3-3!!

New York has seen enough of Villa, and brings in Felix Robles to get out of this mess. Robles is able to induce Cortez to fly out to Right field and end the top of the inning.. but not before Ann Arbor ties it up!

Ann Arbor brings in Ryan Walton to pitch the bottom of the 9th and he gets Rosario, Osborn and Carroll 1-2-3 to force extra innings.

Neither team is able to do much in the 10th inning and Ann Arbor only gets a solo walk in the top of the 11th. In the bottom of the 11th, Ann Arbor brings in another reliever Clinton Cochrane.. Cochrane gives up a meatball to Vince Hanna and that ball is gone! A Walk off Home run in the bottom of the 11th to win for New York!

New York 4, Ann Arbor 3 (11 innings)

CLCS Game 2:

Catron for Edmonton vs Goff for Baltimore

The pitchers take charge of this game, as only a Pina RBI in the bottom of the 3rd reaches the scoreboard for either team until the 8th inning.

In the top of the 8th, Baltimore ties it up as Luis Marquez scores thanks to an error by the pitcher but a Webb RBI Triple in the bottom of the 8th puts Edmonton back up again.

Josh Wright comes in to pitch the 9th and he gets Rei, Hembrow and Suarez 1-2-3 to close out the game for Edmonton!

Catron ends up going 6 innings, allowing 0 runs and only 3 hits in the win.

Edmonton 2, Baltimore 1

The CLCS is tied a 1 game a piece.

RLCS Game 2:

Johnny Riley for New York vs Lawrence Thompson for Ann Arbor

Ann Arbor takes the early lead with a Francisco Salinas RBI single in the top of the 3rd. They jump way in the lead in the 5th on a single, two doubles and a Guoncalo Castel 2-run Home Run to put Ann Arbor up 5-0!

Nick Vega responds in the bottom of the inning with a 2-run home run of his own but that remains the score entering the bottom of the 9th, Ann Arbor up 5-2.

Ryan Walton enters to pitch the 9th for the Winged Ligerines but he immediately gives up a single to Carroll to start the inning. Gonzales flies out next, but then McIntosh singles to right field. That allows Carroll to reach third base, barely beating the throw. McIntosh advances to second on the throw, and just like that the tying run comes to the plate in the form of Gabriel Duran.

Duran fouls off several pitches before putting one in through the hole at Shortstop for a single.. that scores two runs and cuts the lead to 5-4 now with only 1 out!

That is all for Walton as Tedla Habimana comes in to pitch for Ann Arbor, and a pinch runner immediately comes in to run for Duran at first, Ricardo Sandoval.

Nick Vega, up next hits a ball to Center, but playable for the second out of the inning... Justin Geldard however does not disappoint as he bloops a single into right field, which lets Sandoval scoot all the way around to third.. The tying run is now only 90 feet away!

Vince Hanna, up next likes the first pitch he sees.. hit deep to center.. going.. going... oh not quite deep enough. That is caught by the centerfielder for out #3!

Thompson pitches 8 innings, allowing 2 Runs on 5 hits while striking out 7 for Ann Arbor

Ann Arbor 5, New York 4

The RLCS is tied at 1 each

CLCS Game 3:

Jong-kook Chong pitches for Baltimore vs Rojas for Edmonton

Edmonton jumps on Chong early as Arturo Hernandez knocks in two runs on a double in the top of the 1st to give them a 2-0 lead. They score another in the second as Broomhead scores on a ground-out by Jorge Garcia to make it 3-0.

Baltimore finally get one back in the third on a Whittingham sac-fly to Rightfield that makes it 3-1, and then the Charm tie it up in the 5th as they load the bases with no outs, but only manage to escape the inning with 2 runs to make it 3-3.

Baltimore keeps up the hitting in the 6th when a Marquez RBI double followed by a Laranjeira RBI single puts the Charm up 5-3. Edmonton responds in the top of the 7th on a Gill RBI Single that cuts the lead to 5-4 and that remains the score until the 9th inning..

In the top of the 9th, Baltimore brings in Dempster to try to save the 1-run lead. He gets the pinch hitter Henry Budgell to fly out for the first out of the inning. Pina follows immediately with a strikeout for a quick second out...

Garcia and Trujillo start up a two out rally however with back to back singles, to put the tying run at second with 2 outs for a pinch hitter, George Swyers.

Swyers takes the first pitch, called strike.. the second pitch he fouls off behind him... The 0-2 count.. he takes and it is callled..... a ball! 1-2 Count now.. the pitch, swung on and... he misses completely. Strike out for out #3 of the inning, and that will be the ball game!

Baltimore 5, Edmonton 4

Baltimore leads the series 2 games to 1.

RLCS Game 3:

Bartolo Rodriguez for Ann Arbor vs Edwin Phillips for New York

Neither pitcher makes a big mistake in the game until the top of the 6th when one sits a bit too far in the middle of the plate for Bartolo Rodriguez and Justin Geldard crushes it 442 feet for a 2-run homer and a 2-0 New York lead!

Phillips is outstanding for New York, he goes 7.1 innings, striking out 8 and not allowing a run.. only 2 hits against him..

Phillips is lifted in the bottom of the 8th, but Felix Robles pitches through the inning without giving up any hits which takes us to the 9th.

New York gets a single in the top of the 9th, but no one scores, which means it still is a 2-0 lead entering the bottom of the inning. The last chance for Ann Arbor and they will have to face Alejandro Guzman who will try to save the game for New York.

The first hitter he faces, Guoncalo Castel hitis one to left field.. going back.. back.. and it is gone.. a Solo-home run from Castel makes it a 2-1 game!

That brings Villa in to pitch for New York, and he proceeds to walk Belaouf on four straight pitches.. the winning run comes up to bat.. Nathan Weeks.

Weeks hits one deep, to Right-center field.. it will be off the wall.. and brings in the tying run! Weeks has a RBI Double and the score is tied 2-2!

New York brings in yet another pitcher, the third of the inning, without a single out being made yet. This time Pedro Guerrero.

Guerrero pitches to Brendan Jones, but gives up a single to him as well, Weeks makes it to third, but the hit was not deep enough to score.. Runners are 1st and 3rd with no outs. Pepillo Lujan coming up to bat..

Lujan hits one deep to Center field.. it is playable, caught for out number one, but way too deep and no chance to get Weeks. The centerfielder does not even attempt a throw.. The run scores and that does it, Ann Arbor comes from behind in the bottom of the 9th inning to win!

Ann Arbor 3, New York 2

Ann Arbor leads the series 2 games to 1.

CLCS Game 4:

Browne for Edmonton (0-1 5.40 ERA thus far this postseason)
vs
Uridge for Baltimore (no apperances this postseason)

Edmonton has a huge top of the second inning on a triple and four singles to go up 4-0! They score another in the top of the third on a Lourenco Webb RBI Double which gives them a commanding 5-0 lead.

Baltimore does not give up however and in the bottom of the 4th, they chip back some of the lead. A Parkinson RBI double scores two and a Bart Williams Sac fly cuts the lead to 5-3.

Two more runs in the bottom of the 6th, on a Williams RBI double ties it up at 5-5 for Baltimore! THey then take the lead in the next inning when Luis Marquez hits a 2-run homer to make it 7-5.

Edmonton scrapes one back in the 8th on a Trujillo RBI single but Baltimore scores again in the 8th and puts the game out of reach.

Edmonton out-hits Baltimore 16 to 11, but come out short in the run column.

Baltimore 9, Edmonton 6

Baltimore leads the series 3 games to 1.

RLCS Game 4:

Sierra for New York (0-0 4.50 ERA this postseason)
vs
Esquivel for Ann Arbor (no apperances)

Duran scores in the top of the first for New York on a wild pitch, but the game is tied back up in the second when Lujan knocks home Castel on a RBI single.

New York takes the lead again in the 4th on a Geldard RBI single, but then Ann Arbor leapfrogs them on a Jorge Hernandez solo home run and a Salinas RBI single that gives the Winged Ligerines a 3-2 lead.

New York ties it back up in the 6th on a Nick Vega solo shot and then both bullpens lock it down, keeping the score 3-3 entering the 9th.

Top of the 9th, Sandoval hits a pinch-hit Triple with one out, but Jose Martinez grounds out and Carroll flies out to end the half of the inning without a score.

Guzman comes in to pitch for New York in the bottom of the 9th, he gets Hernandez, Vallis and Cortez 1-2-3 and that forces extra innings!

In the top of the 10th, Jose Gonzales walks, and is moved over to third on a Duran Single. Vega flys out to Center, but it is deep enough to score the run. The top of the 10th ends with New York up 4-3.

Guzman still pitching for New York in the bottom of the inning. He gets Salinas to ground out on the first pitch for the first out. Castel flies out for out number 2.. that brings up a pinch hitter, Michael Hart with 2 outs and down by 1 run...

Hart hits one deep to Center, but playable, and that will be the ball game!

New York 4, Ann Arbor 3 (10 innings)

The series is tied at 2.

Catron for Edmonton (0-0 0.00 ERA)

Diaz for Baltimore (0-0 4.15 ERA)

A Pina Solo home run in the first gives Edmonton the early lead and a Broomhead RBI single in the top of the 4th puts them up 2-0.

That is when the Baltimore destruction squad shows up.. In the bottom of the 4th the Charm score 6 runs on 4 singles, a double, 2 walks and a Takechi Miura 2-run home run.

They score 4 more in the bottom of the 7th inning and never look back in this one.

Harrington goes 2 for 4 with a double and 3 RBI for Baltimore in the win.

Baltimore 11, Edmonton 3

Diego Rosario triples in the top of the third, and comes home one batter later for the early 1-0 New York lead.

Ann Arbor jumps into the lead however in the 4th thanks to a Brendan Jones RBI Single and a Timothy Vallis 2-run RBI Double that makes the score 3-1 Ann Arbor.

That remains the score until the top of the 8th when Nick Vega hits an RBI single and Geldard an RBI double to tie the game up 3-3!

In the bottom of the inning however, Brendan Jones puts Ann Arbor back into the lead on a solo home run, which ends up being the game winner.

Jones ends up going 2 for 4 with a HR and 2 RBI in the win for Ann Arbor

New York is just unable to do anything after the first inning offensively. Thompson ends up pitching 8 innings, striking out 9 and giving up only 5 hits to win the game for Ann Arbor.

The 2024 FOOL Classic is set.

Ann Arbor Winged Ligerines (87-75)
vs
Baltimore Charm (88-74)

The Charm have the home field advantage in the Classic due to a better regular season record.

This is the third time these two franchises have met, each won one FOOL Classic in the past, making this the rubber match. Ann Arbor beat Baltimore for the FOOL Championship and their first title in 2017, while the Charm beat Ann Arbor in 2014 for their first title.

Despite this game looking to be a pitching duel, Ann Arbor puts that thought to rest in the top of the third inning when Guoncalo Castel hits a 3-run HR in the middle of a 4-run inning.

The Winged Ligerines scorre 4 more runs in the 8th inning and this game was never close for the unfortunate Charm fans as they lose big at home to start off the Classic.

Rodriguez pitches 7 innings, giving up only 1 run on 6 hits while stirking out 11!

Ann Arbor 9, Baltimore 1

This game ends up the complete opposite of game one, despite the non-marquee pitching matchup, neither team can score until the bottom of the 6th when Esquivel loads the bases on a hit by pitch, a single and a walk before He hits a second batter of the inning, Leonard Parkinson to bring in the first run of the game 1-0!

Ann Arbor responds immediately however in the top of the 7th on a Nathan Weeks 2-run shot that gives them a 2-1 lead.

Baltimore proceeds to tie it in the bottom of the inning once again when Esquivel loads the bases on a double and two straight walks when facing Oliver Whittingham, he throws four straight pitches outside of the zone to walk in the tying run!

The score remains 2-2 through the 9th inning, and into extra innings.Ann Arbor gets a runner on in the top of the 10th when Hart is hit by a pitch, but is unable to score. The Charm go down 1-2-3 in the bottom of the 10th, without getting a runner on base.

In the top of the 11th, Castel leads off with a walk, Belaouf follows with a walk as well before Walton flies out for the first out of the inning. Brendan Jones is then hit by a pitch to load the bases.. There is obviously no love lost between these two teams! Lujan, up next grounds out to the Shortstop 6-3, but a run scores as he was unable to get the double play and Ann Arbor goes up 3-2! Hart grounds out next to end the top of the 11th, but not before Ann Arbor takes the lead!

Habimana comes in to pitch for Ann Arbor in the bottom of the 11th. He gets Dempster to fly out to start the inning and Marquez strikes out. Two outs for Pedre Laranjeira who lines a single into right field, perhaps a two out rally??

Pedro Suarez follows, with a single of his own that gets Laranjeira all the way around to third, the tying run on third with two outs!

Marty Harrington up next.. but the pitcher attempts a pickoff at first base... oh man the ball gets away from him... thrown away, that will let Laranjeira score, and the game is tied up 3-3!

Harrington fouls off several pitches before finally striking out swinging to end the inning.

Ann Arbor gets a single in the top of the 12th but Baltimore gets out of it with a double play to end the top of the 12th. The bottom of the 12th goes almost the same way, bringing us to the 13th inning..

Reynoso comes in to pitch for Baltimore in the 13th, he gets Castel to ground out, but Belaouf hits a one-out single. Habimana hits for himself as Ann Arbor is out of pinch hitters on the bench and flys out deep to centerfield for the second out of the inning.

Brendan Jones keeps the inning alive with a single however but Lujan is not able to bring anyone home when he grounds out to the pitcher for the final out of the top of the 13th.

Marquez walks to lead off the bottom of the 13th, and makes it to second on a Suarez single, but no one scores and we are heading to the top of the 14th.

Reynoso still pitching for baltimore, he hits Hart to lead off the top of the 14th. Vallis hits a single to send Hart around to third... The next batter, Cortez is also hit by a pitch to load the bases!

Salinas up, he hits one on a line but right at the centerfielder... the tag... and throw.... Close play at the plate, but the runner is safe! Ann Arbor takes the lead 4-3!

Castel Flies out and Belaouf strikes out to end the top of the 14th, but not before Ann Arbor takes the lead!

Whittingham is the first batter for Baltimore in the bottom of the 14th, but he grounds out 5-3 for the first out. Delgado, up next flys out for the second out and Parkinson flys out to center to end the inning and the game..

Ann Arbor wins a very long game! One of the most rediculous lines I have ever seen:

Hit Batters:
Ann Arbor (3): Esquivel (2), Cochrane (1)
Baltimore (6): Chong (1), Kim (2), Dempster (1), Reynoso (2)

Ann Arbor 4, Baltimore 3 (14 innings)

Ann Arbor leads the classic 2 games to 0

Baltimore starts off the game with a Minns two run home run for the lead in the top of the first. Ann Arbor comes roaring back however in the second on a Weeks 2-RBI triple. Weeks scores on the next batter to make the score 3-2 Ann Arbor!

The Winged Ligerines jump further ahead thanks to a Jorge Hernandez 2-run Home run that is part of a 3 run 4th inning which makes the lead now 6-3 for Ann Arbor. They add another run in the 5th on a Weeks RBI single and yet another in the 7th on a Weeks Sac Fly that makes it 8-3 now.

In the top of the 8th, Baltimore must have sensed desperation as they strike back on three doubles, a single, 1 walk and a hit batter in what ends up a 5 run inning that ties the game up at 8 a piece!

Baltimore is unable to score in the top of the 9th, and they choose to bring Dempster in to pitch the bottom of the inning. Dempster gets the pinch hitter Belaouf to fly out for out 1 and the dangerous Nathan Weeks to ground out for out #2. Jones starts a two out rally however with a single, followed by Lujan who also hits a single. With two on and two out, Jorge Hernandez grounds out to harmlessly end the inning and force the game into extra innings.

Baltimore goes down 1-2-3 in the top of the 10th, and Ann Arbor is unable to score in the bottom of the 10th despite getting two walks.

In the top of the 11th, Seung-nam Yi singles, but the Charm are still unable to cross the plate, while Ann Arbor once again goes down 1-2-3 in the bottom of the 11th.

Ji-mon Kwon threatens to put the game away for Baltimore in the top of the 12th when he crushes a Craig Cameron pitch 427 feet for a 3-run Home Run to make the score 11-8 Baltimore!

Ann Arbor gets a single from hernandez in the bottom of the inning, but they can't get him past first, and Baltimore comes from behind to win the game in extra innings.

Nathan Weeks ends up hitting 4 RBI, and is just a HR shy for the cycle in the loss as the two teams have played 26 innings in the last two games!

Baltimore 11, Ann Arbor 8 (12 innings)

Ann Arbor leads the series 2 games to 1.

The first run of the game comes on a Gervasio Rei RBI single with the bases loaded in the top of the 5th, however the third out of the inning occurs when the runner tried to score from second. Baltimore has the lead however 1-0!

Ann Arbor responds immediately in the bottom of the inning on a Jorge Hernandez 2-run home run that puts Ann Arbor in charge 2-1.

That remains the score as Baltimore is unable to do anything else against Thompson. The Ann Arbor starter goes 6.2 innings, allowing only 1 run to score among 6 hits.

Diaz pitches 8 innings for Baltimore and only allows 2 runs as he spreads 8 hits out, but he is unable to get the win thanks to the Baltimore offense abandoning him.

Ann Arbor 2, Baltimore 1

Ann Arbor leads the series 3 games to 1.

Baltimore needs a win to stay in the series, and they come through in this one. Takechi Miura has a huge game for the Charm, going 2 for 3 with 2 HR, 3 RBI in the win. Minns went 4 for 5 with a Homer himself and 2 RBI while Douggie Goff pitches 7.2 innings, striking out 6 while giving up only 1 run and 3 hits.

Baltimore 7, Ann Arbor 1

Ann Arbor leads the series 3 games to 2.

Francisco Salinas hits a 3-run HR in the first inning as Ann Arbor takes a 5-0 lead after the top of the first. Chong only pitches one inning for Baltimore and it is all down hill from there.

Weeks goes 2 for 4 with a HR and 3 Runs Scored as Ann Arbor scores 15 runs on 13 hits and are just one game away from winning the Classic!

Ann Arbor 15, Baltimore 4

Ann Arbor leads the series 4 games to 2.

Baltimore, facing elimination, jump out to the early lead thanks to a Rowe RBI double as the Charm lead 2-0 after 1 inning.

Ann Arbor gets one back in the third as Vallis scores on a throwing error by the catcher on an attempt to throw out a runner stealing but Baltimore pile more runs on in the 5th when Miura hits a solo Homer and Parkinson scores later in the inning to make the score 4-1 Baltimore.

A Castel Sac fly in the 8th close the gap some, but Ann Arbor is unable to put the series away just yet as Baltimore goes on to win!

Uridge pitches 7 innings, only allowing 5 hits in the win.

Baltimore 4, Ann Arbor 2

Ann Arbor leads the series 4 games to 3

A Nathan Weeks 2-run Homer scores the first two runs for Ann Arbor, but Baltimore then scores the next 13 runs of the game and runs away with another one, to tie up the series and force a game 9!

Laranjeira goes 3 for 4 with 2 Home Runs and 8 RBI including a Grand slam homer in the 8th inning!

Diaz goes 8.1 innings, and only gives up 4 hits in the important win for the Charm!

Baltimore 13, Ann Arbor 2

The FOOL Classic is tied at 4 games each!

Despite there having been 4 blow outs this series so far, the overall score for the series is led by the Charm by just 1 Run 44-43!

FOOL Classic game 9!

Bartolo Rodriguez for Ann arbor (1-1 3.86 ERA this postseason)
vs
Douggie Goff for Baltimore (1-1 2.87 ERA this postseason)

Rodriguez went 20-11 with a 3.25 ERA this season and 302 Strikeouts while Goff went 26-8 with a 3.17 ERA and 202 Ks during the regular season.

Both teams have their best pitcher going in the most important game of the year, so with that said, lets look for another 14-13 game!
