CS, you must be a die hard Irish fan to be looking forward to this game. Maybe the rivalry thing will kick in and make a decent show, but I think Miami (OH) is as good, if not better than ND and were stomped 43-10 by UM. I respect your love of team and wish them well, but I think this game will get ugly early.

Notre Dame is one of a handful of teams that can make me root for Michigan. Ohio State is also high on the list.

If recent history (10 years) have taught us anything its that ND can pull it out vs Michigan. I think in the 1997 season Michigan came into South Bend favored by 28 pts and the Irish wupped em 35-21. and The 25-23 win vs. Michigan 2 years ago also.

If anyone wants to say hi, I'll be tailgating with the CBE grad students in the soccer fields south of Edison Road (Blue Field South, I think it's called). We'll be flying a black flag that says "Muck Fichigan".

(Edit: You better ask for Craig, too, if you ask for Mr. Wednesday nobody except me is going to know who you're talking about. )

In 1997, Michigan was favored by 14 at home and won, 21-14.
In 1998, Michigan was favored on the road by 5 and lost, 36-20.
In 1999, Michigan was favored by 7 1/2 at home and won, 26-22.
In 2002, Michigan was favored by 5 on the road and lost, 25-23.
In 2003, Michigan was favored by 10 at home and won, 38-0.

Last year was the first time Michigan covered the spread against Notre Dame in a long time. They are also 0-6 against the spread (including five losses) in the last six road openers, and 1-7 against the spread in games where they shut out the opponent the previous season.

If I'm betting, Michigan doesn't look like a great bet to cover. But having seen both teams play last week, I don't think they're very close in talent.

Notre Dame is always dangerous. I'm expecting a close, low-scoring game. But I think Michigan wins.

Go Blue.

I can't find an answer so I'll just ask it hoping someone who lives in MI could answer.

Who is starting at QB? Is it Henne or Guitierrez? I'm excited to see Guiterrez because he is a Bay Area kid who helped De La Salle HS to their impressive win streak.

I'm pretty sure it's Henne. Guiterrez' arm is still injured.

Yes, Henne is starting. It's going to be tough for a true freshman going in there. I'm a bit worried, but hopefully we can still take care of business.

Notre Dame is playing with great emotion, and dominating the game. Carr has lost confidence in Henne. Amazing that Michigan still leads this one. Those two picks are huge.

This drive is really turning the momentum in our favor, though. Not a great ball by Henne on that long pass, but good enough for a guy like Edwards to catch it, I guess. And it's helping the run game in ND territory. We needed that TD, though.

I'm ticked that Carr chose to run into the line on 3rd and long. If he doesn't trust Henne, get Clayton Richard in there.

(note, it's a Michigan tradition to abuse the quarterback, no matter what he does)

I like Darius Walker, but I'm not sure about this "start pointing at the end zone 2/3 yards before" trend.

I agree Schmidty. There are 3 teams I despise, Pitt, ND, and Michigan. I find it really hard to root for ND but I just cant stand Lloyd Carr.
