Civil Rights Movement
Does anyone have any suggestions on a good book or books that cover the Civil Rights Movement in America? I am first looking for an overall picture and then would like to dig a little deeper.

Trouble in Mind by Leon Litwack and
The Education of Blacks in the South, 1860-1935 are two of my favourites. The latter is different and Litwack actually cites stuff from Anderson's book, but...the latter is great because it really talks about the development of public education, especially in the south. Naturally, it appeals to me more because of my interest in Education Policy, but...the first one is really solid and does a great job of providing an overview of things as they went down. There are others and as I think of them, I will post.
