Would people argue if Ben had signed for 98 mil? Eli is a better QB then Ben is if you ask me, though they're comparable. I gave Ben the edge in the other thread based on his two rings, but talent alone I'd still take Eli. Problem is the NFL doesn't have but 5 true stud QB's right now.

How many do you think there should be? If you're talking about a 'true stud' QB, shouldn't there not be many?

to me eli always seems to have a scared look in his eyes and look "skittish" or like he has nervous-feet or something. I know it's not a scientific or measurable thing to say, just that's my impression.

I'd take Ben in a heartbeat over Eli. Watch how many plays stay alive based on Ben's strength and ability to avoid the sack.

Probably not scientific. I used to think the same thing about Payton when I would see him shuffle his feet in the playoffs until I watched a couple of early season blowout games against nobodies and realized that he had the same mannerisms then. I think that is just how the two play quarterback. If I recall Eli looked that way in Super Bowl 42.

Well, when you have a QB that wins a SuperBowl (and is pretty integral to that victory), you have yourself, somewhat, in a corner. It's not like you can let him become a free agent. Your fanbase would kill you.

I pretty much posted this in the NFL thread but since Clap is a lazy SOB I'll post it here also.

First, Eli is a top 10 QB. He has a SB win, never misses a game, rarely makes a bad throw anymore and has led his team to the playoffs every year as a starter.

Second. Yes, they are overpaying a bit, but look at every consistent NFL playoff team and they all have stability at the QB position. I'll pay extra to know I am set at that position for the next 6 years as opposed to having a revolving door of the Jeff Garcia's of the world coming through.

Ask the Vikings or Buccs if they would give Eli that contract. They would in a second.

Since the only money in the NFL that is guaranteed is the Signing Bonus, I say he is underpaid.

Eli Manning signing bonus for a 6 year deal was $38 million
Mathew Stafford signing bonus for a 6 year deal was $41 million

Do you really think Eli is OVER paid?

you know I'm just messing with you. Even I'm not a crazy enough homer to claim Eli is better the Brady.

Barring anything goofy Brady goes down as maybe the best of all time.

I know you're just messing with me. I just don't want to get all at you.

Awww...best of all time? Really?

I'll tell you this - he's something special. It's amazing to watch how much poise and coolness he has developed, especially after his pretty pedestrian time at UM.

I'd much rather have 8 years of Ben for 102, than 6 years of Eli(blech) for 97. If Eli gets this big of a deal, Rivers better dwarf it. Rivers is a much better passer and player than Eli.

But of course they both are bitches.

Every great QB is.

It's kind of the idea of football, to use your players to win games.

If your system isn't helping your QB out and making him better, you have some big problems.

Ben has a better completion percentage, more TDs, less INTs, more passing yards, more rushing yards, less fumbles lost, and a much better overall qb rating. And they have started the EXACT same number of games. II know you love Eli but come on now.

We can list all of the players that are better than Eli Manning, but it's not like the Giants can sign any of them. If Eli took off, it would be a reboot at the QB position. If they like Eli and want to keep the QB position secure for a long time, then what they did makes complete sense.
