Park City, Utah

My family has an opportunity to go on vacation there next summer. Never been or heard anything about it. Im wondering if anyone here can give me a travel guide type description and any other insight into the area.

Being raised in Utah, Park City was one of my favorite destinations in the spring and summer. It is of course first and foremost a Ski resort (though I preferred other places) but also has some nice Hotels/Condos, year round activities like hiking, Alpine slide (if still open), Hot air Ballooning, Golf and various tours. Has some great micro beweries and an old town feel main street with shopping, vendors and some good eateries, though some places are a bit pricey.

I guess you could compare it on a smaller scale to Vail, Colorado or Sedona, Arizona. It is not overly "exciting" in terms of lots of activities, but more of a retreat, where you can go and relax, enjoy beautiful scenery and some quaint little stores and restaurants.

I thought the slopes at the resort were over-groomed. Much preferred Alta and Snowbird.

Dola, I loved skiing at Deer Valley, but then I like groomers; Park City resort itself is significantly cheaper. Alta in particular is much more "ski-bum" territory.

Yeah the locals seldom Ski there.

I always got the combo Brighton-Solitude pass that features a nice 5 mile traverse between the two. Alta is pretty good, but I always stayed away from Snowbird as well as it is tourist heavy as well.

If you have some cash Deer Valley is definitely nice (I could never afford it on a regular basis when I lived there)

Great place to vacation during the Winter. I think I would get a little bored during the summer though.

It's great in the summer, the old mine is open for tours...

But then again, you are also only 45 minutes away from the high Uintah's which is some of the best mountainous regions in Utah.

You are also 45 minutes or less from Downtown SLC and other destinations.

Lake Jordanelle, Heber City and Deer Creek which are some of the top Reservoirs in the state.

Great lake, stream and Fly Fishing as well.
