So this past weekend we toured the Dallas Cowboys Stadium and it truly is one of the most impressive sights I've seen. We took a lot of pix, but the TV truly stands out. Here are three pix, a side shot from an endzone, a shot from the regular seats, and a shot from a luxury box suite (through glass) with people on the field level for a size comparison.

From the wiki :

"The City of Arlington provided $325 million in funding, and Jones covered any cost overruns."

Seems like a pretty good deal, considering how most stadium deals go. This sucker is smack dab in the heart of everything Arlington. You have Six Flags, The Rangers Ballpark and this right in a row. September Sundays with the Rangers and Cowboys in town are gonna be crazy, because Six Flags is still open on the weekends then. They all share entry roads and to some extent parking.

Most times cities with two stadiums in close proximity they try to avoid having the baseball team and football team at home the same weekend.

IMO the exterior of Lucas Oil is what makes it great.

Almost never. It had never happened until the '85 World Series, and it's only happened once or twice since then. When it does happen, one team plays early in the afternoon and the other plays at night, giving the chance to clear out the parking lot before the next game. I seem to recall a game a few years ago where they allowed people to stay in the parking lot for the second game but they made them pay to stay.

There have been UCLA, Dodger, and USC games all going on in the same Saturday before.

Yeah but the Coliseum, the Rose Bowl, and Chavez Ravine (or whatever they are calling it now) aren't all right next to each other. Los Angeles is much more spread out than most of the other cities in question.

Any word on whether we'll see Yankee-like prices for this stadium? My guess is not quite at that level, but I'm sure it will still be a pretty penny compared to most NFL stadiums.

I don't recall all the details, but I believe the most expensive luxury suites are probably the most expensive in all sports. However there is a certain percentage of cheaper seats available and a standing room only area available for a pretty low price ($20?) at one or both end zones of the stadium. I have no clue what the average price would be or compare with other stadiums though.

I think it's the PSLs that are crazy high there. The Giants and Jets really messed up with the price points on those.

Season tickets weren't that bad. But we had them before, so maybe we are used to it.

Supposedly Kauffman Stadium for our maligned Kansas City Royals supposedly has the largest HD LED scoreboard in the world, a ranking it will lose when the Cowboys stadium opens.

I like that they kept the same look and feel of the open roof over the field.

It will probably be impossible for us to do, but we have been thinking of trying to go to the Arkansas-Texas A&M game that will be there this fall. Looks cool.

If you don't mind, what do you pay and where do you sit in the new stadium (upper, lower, sideline, endzone, etc.).

I fear the Chiefs ticket prices may escalate in 2010 when the renovation is complete. It's looking every bit as good as Kauffman Stadium. The view from the top of the new structure is going to be incredible.

Sorry, it was a last minute decision that we go to Dallas for the weekend instead of PA to take care of my Dad's stuff.

Ironically, we ate at Romano's Macaroni Grill on Saturday. Sorry, we really like the way they put the garlic cloves in the pasta and there isn't a Macaroni Grill near us. We've had to wait for over an hour for the Olive Garden in Lawton, OK so we mostly go to the Olive Garden in Witchita Falls.

Next time we go down to Dallas (which might be for the Raiders/Cowboys game on my birthday) I'll definitely send you a PM.

Its 66 for a 12 pack, which is average or even below average when you compare it to most NFL beer vendors.

A 90 dollar suite pizza with no toppings is pretty crazy though. The better TV technology and picture quality gets, the less it is worth it to pay the going rate to go to a NFL game.

1900 a seat for a 30 year license. Around the 20 yard line. We have 4.

I heard on the radio last night that it's *only* a $60 pizza, which is the same price as it was at Texas Stadium. Also, you can indeed get toppings on it...

Never hard to sell if you wanted to do that. Doubt we ever will. Plus, we sell 3 high market games and get about half back on the cost.
