Indexed Universal Life Insurance for retirement planning opinions

I just purchased an Indexed Universal LI backed by Allianz Global thru a close friend that is in the wealth management line of work. So, after dragging my feet with retirement planning I took the plunge on a 25 year plan more designed to be a somewhat tax sheltered vehicle to save for retirement and get some decent growth on it. I have a 401k thru work that I pay to the match of the company but those are always a crap shoot is not the only thing I would hang my hat on. I know it doesn't matter now as I purchased and have researched this all for a number of years before doing it but know there a lot of smart folks here and am curious if others have used them, or our in the industry and have unbiased thoughts on them.
