I am extremely pissed with PayPal
So I go to my account today to pull out some cash, and I am told I can not.
I go into my account, and there is money in my balance....however, available balance is sitting at 0. So I am thinking it's a glitch.... Go to my bank this morning, and I have $3036 dollars in charges through my PayPal account with gamespy.... Now this is where I am get pissed, no emails for the charge....nothing. I am now on the phone with them and I they have transferred me to the resolution center because the person on the phone couldn't see the charges..... I am going to freaking flip!

Nope, I have had this subscription to gamespy for years....It has never done anything like this...And PayPal is saying they don't see the charges on my account...this is a freaking joke...I am now being transferred to their banking dept....
I was also told from the Resolutions rep that I will need a statement from my bank proving these charges.....

A glitch? I wonder how many people actually dont pay attention or bother to call and pay the money. I guess thats how they finance their lawsuits.

Google Preparing to Challenge Ebay's PayPal
According to a WSJ report (sub), Google is preparing to introduce an electronic payment system later this year, similar to that of PayPal. The service is code named Google Wallet. http://www.searchenginelowdown.com/2...nge-ebays.html |

My wife went to the bank and was able to get a print out of half the charges because drive thruis the only thing open and they didn't want to tie the line up.
So I have Auth# ranging from 77161 to 77606 all incrementing numerically.... I am now back on the phone with PayPal.... The thing that chaps me is I am a premier business member with them, I have churned quite a bit of money through here due to me running my e-bay business for the year I was unemployed and had to make some money.... Not one glitch, until now..... The wife is irate, chewing ass, and telling me to close the account....which is probably going to happen now.

I just thought of this, but is it possible you got an email from a phishing scam claiming to be from paypal and got scammed that way? It would make sense with what's happened.

Problem with Google, GreenZap, or anyone else, is that PayPal has the market cornered. It is also so well integrated into eBay, that anyone else is going to have a really hard time. The only way any other service will work is if they integrate with eBay's API and that isn't gonna happen. The eBay-PayPal integrations allows for Buy It Now to work so well and makes it easy to pay before the seller ever contacts you.

Nope.....I will admit, I can be a moron at times, but I am not that stupid.... Anyways, just a brief update...we caught this at 9 am Saturday morning, the banks fraud prevention went on to catch this at around 3 pm Saturday afternoon....this was $20,000 later on the account...it seems the dumbass teller at the bank that morning didn't drop a block on the charge after being told it isn't valid. So now my account is close to $20,000 in the hole, which I know I am not liable for, but still...it's pretty funny...this is leading to a couple of things. 1) I am closing my account with the bank I am at 2) I am moving to a new bank and opening two accounts 3) I am attaching my paypal account to the 2nd account I open, and that will be my online account...if I need to purchase anything online, I will move money from one account to another. 4) I am still on my wifes shit list, and it is daddy's day.....bah!

Is it possible that you were one of the CardSystem International victims? Was this directly out of your checking account or was it using your debit/check card?

Right now, all signs point to a glitch on either the processor or the banks end, I will find that out tomorrow. As for what was happening, I have the debit/check card attached to the PayPal account...

I had stuff like this happen before, where my money was coming out of merchants I never shopped at. Banks told me that sometimes processing systems will do strange things and apply the charges to the wrong card. |

This is no help, but possibly of some comfort. You're not alone in your anger at Paypal. I could not have a lower opinion of any company. No company has ever got me more absolutely freaking PISSED as Paypal. I despise the name Paypal and will never do business with them again. I think their customer service is despicable, and their policies would be laughable if they hadn't caused me so much unrestrainable anger. The entire Paypal organization is welcome to eat the peanuts out of my SH_ T !!!

So the final update....
Spoke with the bank this morning, they went in and reversed all the transactions, giving me my money back... We also cancelled my card...and we are having a new one issued..... I have also opened a second account, and I am attaching my paypal account to that account. As it stands, they have been on the phone with GameSpy this morning and it looks like GameSpy was running the charges, but GameSpy denies it even though there were reverses starting to be placed this morning....

I spoke with the Branch Manager of the bank...I have been with them for about 12 years and I really do not want to move all my stuff to a new bank... assurances have been made nothing like this would happen again... PayPal is on my 2nd account now, and I am waiting for the new cards to arrive. But the main reason is, I honestly did not want to move everything...

It's funny. Among those of us in the serious vintage sports cards hobby, we are much more pissed off at eBay than at PayPal. In fact, it has gotten to the point that if the seller's auction does not accept PayPal, he/she will not get good bids. We (as members of the PSA forum) are constantly acting as watchdog against the many eBay scams - informing eBay of such so they can hopefully shut it down, emailing high bidders ot scams, creating shit list of bad dealers, etc. - and conversely, haven't heard of many problems with PayPal, even with the power sellers among us. I'm relatively small potatoes with the sales/purchases through PayPal but have not had any problems - even though I am resenting the double-dipping between the eBay and PayPal fees.
Good luck in the future. I am apt to become more distrustful of any kind of electronic financial transactions and will become more cautious. |
