Fun in Phoenix
I am traveling to Phoenix for training in a couple of weeks and was wondering what to do, where to go etc.
Any ideas? |

I wish I was going to Phoenix in a couple of weeks. That sounds great. Have fun and soak up some sun for me, Split.

Sorry to disappoint you, but I am pretty sure that fun was outlawed in Phoenix, just about the same time that the Cardinals moved there. Good luck!

Mill avenue is a fun place at night if you are young...all the ASU chicks are at the clubs at mill avenue or around tempe...kinda tired right now and will try to give more places tomorrow...stick to tempe and scottsdale if you can....there the "nicer" areas...

If you're there over a weekend, go see the Grand Canyon. I went to a customer site in Phoenix for 2 weeks a few years ago, and drove up and spent the weekend at the Grand Canyon, was awesome.
If not, then yeah the ASU/tempe area is probably where everything's happening at. Or if you like baseball at all go see a D'Backs game |

A few ideas downtown: The D'Backs are good. Also, there are a lot of bars, restaurants in the downtown Phoenix scene that make it pretty fun, particularly on game nights. Mill Avenue, Tempe. Lots of good college bars, restaurants, and did I mention that ASU coeds are some of the most beautiful around, and this time of year aren't wearing much? (It has always been my contention that heaven has nothing on Cady Mall at about midday near the fountains in May). If you are into the museum thing at all, Phoenix boasts a couple of interesting ones: The Heard Museum contains a large collection of Native American art. Pueblo Grande Museum (a collection of ruins and artifacts from the Hohokam culture that occupied the Phoenix area about a thousand years ago). A few other ideas for day trips, besides the Grand Canyon: Sedona/Oak Creek Canyon: Gorgeous red rocks, aspen and pine, and just a couple of hours away from Phoenix Jerome. A ghost town from Arizona's silver mining days. Mogollon Rim. Pine trees a couple of hours drive from Phoenix. Closer to Tucson: Mount Lemmon (near Tucson) Old Tucson Movie Studios There's probably more, but I'm too addled this morning to write much more. Hope this helps.

Gotta throw in a Scottsdale mention. Lots of fun bars and you should grab a burrito at Dos Gringos.
Bank One is the best "modern" ball park I've seen. Definitely worth the trip. |
