FOFC Favorite Rock Act - Round 1 Group K

Only a mild "upset" in group J and I don't see any favorites losing here, but I am wrong every damn time I try and predict that. Tough draw for James Taylor, who may have a chance. Not looking good at all for two of the 80's notable "hair" metal bands in this group.

Y'all can't be serious about James Taylor. He's great, and yeah, he's in the rock hall of fame.. But he's not a rock musician and a lot of other artists in there (the hall) aren't either.

I don't like where some of these are heading, but at least Poison isn't beating Black Sabbath.

Sucks less than FRONTIERS-era Journey, I'll grant you.

I do like Journey a lot more in the Gregg Rolie era vs. when Jonathon Cain joined the band. No disrespect to Cain, but Rolie was a great compliment to Perry and wrote 'Feeling that way' which might be my favorite Journey song.

Radiohead had to give writing credits for "Creep" and split royalites with the writers of this song:

Yeah, I thought The Hollies and ANYONE vs. James Taylor were no-brainers, but I guess I was wrong.

This is a really great song! I voted for Crue because they just hit a wider appeal with me song for song, but this was a matchup I had to think about.

Have some very good memories of a Cranberries concert and my date. Nostalgia vote.

First one I didn't vote for...care for neither Black Sabbath nor Poison.

Sad to see the Hollies go out so soon.

"Feelin' That Way/Anytime" is fucking awesome. I feel like Journey suffers somewhat from the KISS/Danzig effect, where they've become a cultural signpost for everything except their music, and then people from following generations just assume their music must suck as well, without even bothering to listen.

Journey's before my time, but I've learned to enjoy them with this my favorite song by them.

I grew up on that Separate Ways video. In many ways, it was the inspiration for becoming the highly respected invisible wall keyboardist that I am today.

Just giving a shout-out to the greatness/ of Dee Snider/Twister Sister who should be getting more than 6 votes against a Southern redneck band.

Pretty much invalidates anything else you have to say in this thread.

"Alice in Chains"

Seems without a warning, they've made it clear you'll be gone.
Alice, it shows these bastards aren't into you.
I logged in this morning and I messed with this song,
I just can't believe I have to post it, too.
I've seen jokers and I've seen pranks.
I've seen funny guys and cocky facebook friends.
I've seen people go for a folk song singing wimp,
but I always thought that I'd see you again.

Whats going on here, Jesus, Somebody help me make a stand.
I just can't believe your run will end this way.
My carpal tunnel is crippling my hand and I can't take it man, it bothers me.
Oh, I've seen jokers and I've seen pranks.
I've seen funny guys and cocky facebook friends.
I've seen people go for a folk song singing wimp,
but I always thought that I'd see you again.

Been wracking my mind to explain this guys, I lack words and I'm stunned.
Lord knows when the old men vote it'll turn your head around.
Well, there's hours of time on the ethernet line to talk about things to come.
But it seems that denying themes is how this will go down.

Oh, I've seen jokers and I've seen pranks.
I've seen funny guys and cocky facebook friends.
I've seen people go for a folk song singing wimp,
but I always thought that I'd see you Alice, in round two again, now.

Thought I'd see you in round two again.
There's just a few things I gotta say this time around, now.
Thought I'd see you, thought I'd see you, Alice in Chains, now.

And I like twisted sister.
But the fact that you refer to LS as a "Southern redneck band" means
1) you know nothing of their catalog beyond the three chords of SHA sampled in modern pop music.
2) you have no clue to their popularity, wide spread appeal and impact in their day.

I have no grief with them at all in their prime. Solid live back in the day too.

Dee is a bit off the rails in his old age though & could kinda do well to just shut the hell up more often at this point.
